Really good bbq. The atmosphere was quite, service was quick. I recommend the coleslaw and kielbasa with sauerkraut.

Good food, good atmosphere, good service. The cornbread starter is great! I always enjoy the chicken corn chowder. The Jambalaya is tasty, and spicey. I’ve had a the pulled chicken and pulled pork loose meats, both great. The burgers are good too. The mashed potatoes are my favorite side. I highly recommend this restaurant.

I came here for lunch with some colleagues, the food was very good. I had the pulled chicken over cornbread — I would have never thought of that combination but ohhhh my — it was awesome! I order the grilled vegetables as my side, another excellent choice. We topped lunch off with their apple pie sundae dessert — wow!!! The staff was very nice! Everything we had was excellent, I look forward to future visits.

Service was very slow. Thick smoke through the restaurant that will definitely make your clothes and hair smell. Pulled pork sandwich is a pile of mush with second bite into it being a piece of cartilage. BBQ pasta was okay but not a great combination. Poorly prepared oversized portions.

Been there for lunch a number of times since the food is usually very good to excellent. Often get rack of ribs which is great about 80% of the time, but a couple of times it was burned and a small portion to begin with. Even the burnt ribs were pretty good — which says a lot about the food quality, but overall — the cost is quite a bit higher for what you get than most other places. The combo meals which are a bit pricy don’t even come with cornbread which is a couple dollars extra. Only reason for 3 stars over 4 – 5 is the price. I think the food is one of the better quality and tasting BBQ around, but it would need to be perfect 100% of the time and huge quantities to justify the prices. A little better service on dine in wouldn’t hurt either.

I really enjoyed Something Grilled! The standout in my meal was… The whole meal. I had the Ultimate burger, a thick, juicy rare burger with delicious fresh beef, topped with barbecue pulled pork and delightfully delicate caramelised onions. I was given ketchup for the fries I had on the side(you can also substitute the fries for any other side at no cost), but I didn’t end up using it at all, thanks to the delicious sauces on the table – a sweet, rich traditional barbecue sauce and a special blueberry habanero sauce that I wish I could have taken away with me, it was so good. I came near closing time on a Saturday, so the restaurant was pretty empty, but that didn’t take away from the experience at all. Overall, I highly recommend Something Grilled – it definitely deserves every one of the five stars I give it.

Been in several times since they opened. They have gotten progressively better and seem to have worked out all First year kinks. Have tried brisket, pork, ribs, chicken, chili, sides and several specials over many visits. My complaints were never so much about food, but centered around service, tables covered with dishes after patrons had left and dirty floors. Must say they have rectified all those complaints. The chicken wings are the best around and I would say it is a tie for best Bbq in CHESTER County with Corporal Dees a mile up the street. Some things better at one some things better at the other. If you are looking for Bbq both are the best around. Have tried all the Bbq in a 30 mile radius and had bbq all over America … Not what you get at some of the best places down south, Kansas city, or Texas but good que at fair prices by hardworking mom and pop operations and that is hard to come by in this area. Enjoy!

The place is kind of small but nice. The cornbread was good. It was served with an apple cinnamon butter. We also ordered the meal for 4 – 6 people. This included 2 racks of ribs, chicken, brisket, mashed potatoes, mac and cheese, beans, grilled vegetables, and 8 pieces of bread. The sides and meat choices vary depending on taste. The place wasn’t that busy and it took a while for us to get our food. We had 3 baskets of the cornbread before our food came. Then our meal came and I have to say, I was a little disappointed. The food was ok, but I guess I was expecting the food to be better. The sides were lacking. The mashed potatoes and baked beans were alright. However, the vegetables needed more seasoning and the mac & cheese was very bland. Sometimes when you go to a place the sides aren’t that great but the meat is really good, right? … wrong. The brisket was pretty good, the chicken was a dry, and the ribs were burnt. As long as you smother everything in BBQ sauce, you should be fine.

If I had to use one word to some up my experience, it would be «meh.» I really wanted to like this place because I LOVEBBQ. We ordered the potato chumpies as an appetizer. They tasted okay but several were still cold in the middle. Our entrees took a really long time to come out(at least 30 mins after we got the appetizer). I got the ribs, Mac and cheese, and onion straws. The ribs were really dry and not very tender. They had a lot of char and tasted burnt on the end. The Mac and cheese was pretty flavorless. The onion straws were good. Overall it wasn’t absolutely horrible, but I wouldn’t go back.

Didn’t know what to expect at this small BBQ place in a non-descript shopping center in Exton. First off the restaurant is not very large, and it’s sits down service. We were greeted and shown to a table right away. First issue, they don’t have double doors and in the winter when we dined every time the door opens the entire restaurant is blasted with cold air. Time to invest in a vestibule space to avoid this. We waited over 15 minutes for someone to come over and take our order. We waited over 30 minutes for or order to come while other tables who were seated before us got there food. We order a half rack of ribs and the pulled meat sampler. I had a cup of corn chowder to start that tasted more like chicken noodle soup, not creamy enough. The ribs were dry and just not very good. They were obviously cooked early in the day and reheated. The pulled chicken and pork were moist but lacking a ton of smokey flavor. BBQ sauce on the table helped but was still just ok. Slow service and food that was just decent means I probably won’t be back. Try Hoods BBQ off 82, also a small place but I’ve always had nice personal service there with owners visiting with us. Never got a visit from a manager at this place.

I had a chance to try something new at lunch. This has been on my radar for some time. It was now time to zero in. As I’ve said before in similar reviews, I am not a barbecue expert by any means. I am, however, a barbecue snob. I am particular about what I get. My feeling is that if I’m going to pay close to $ 20 for a plate of food, I am expecting high quality. Going to a good barbecue joint for me is akin to going to a higher end steak house. I just expect more out of the experience. When I try a new barbecue place for the first time, I look to sample as many of the meats as I can. In this case, that meant trying some wings as the appetizer and doing the 3 meat combo of pulled pork, brisket, and kielbasa. So I’ll just address them one by one. Chicken wings — The lady who served me, whom I later found out was the co-owner, recommended the sweet and spicy sauce. I officially love her for this recommendation. First of all, for $ 6.95 you get 4 huge full grilled wings, as big as or maybe bigger than many chain restaurants’ servings. I could have been happy ordering two more plates of this. Brisket — They didn’t know it, but I was going to completely judge them on the brisket quality. Several local competitors have served me dry brisket in the past. They needed to get this right to win me over. They totally did. This serving was as mosit as could be, flavorful without needing the sauce, and went perfect with tastes of some of the house sauces that I could dab on at my leisure. I love the blueberry habanero sauce with this. Also, in talking with the co-owner who served me, I learned how much quality control they put into making this. Consider me impressed in a big way. Kielbasa — As long as it is prepared right, this flavor speaks for itself. Needless to say they prepared it right. Pulled pork — I won’t call this a miss. I will just say that I understand that they don’t flavor this as much since this meat lends itself to the sauce more. I will say that of the three meats on the plate, the other two impressed me more. The serving had a slight mushy quality to it. It was fine, especially with the vinegar based sauce, but I would choose the brisket over it any day of the week. There were nothing wrong with the side items. Potato salad and corn did the trick. I will say I was mildly surprised that cornbread didn’t automatically come with this platter, but it’s not a deal killer. Some places do, some make you order separately. Now that I think of it, I didn’t even ask if they offer it, and I don’t see it on the menu. I see«pieces of bread» served with family meals, that is all. I think I would enjoy it if they served it regularly. It also didn’t hurt that their app lets you get discounts, which I was able to use on the first visit. Nothing like getting a $ 25 bill knocked down to $ 20. When it comes to barbecue competition in this area, they more than hold their own. I will return happily.

The sign of good customer service is to take ownership of any issues and resolving them to the customer’s satisfaction. I’ll get to that later. The barbecue here is amazing and unique. Chicken and ribs are smoked to perfection and fall off the bone. I am a regular customer here and I ran up against my first issue. I ordered on line for the first time. When I got home I found only a half order. The owner admired an error was made and prepared a new order. On top of that he personally drove it to my house 30 minutes away. Can’t beat good food and good service. That’s how you earn a customer for life.

Doesn’t look like much from the outside, but inside is nice. Personally the bright CFL bulbs over the table are a bit too bright, but booth was comfy. Waitress was also very nice and kept the drink refills coming. As for an appetizer, went with their potato chumpies. Good flavor and different, basically a mashed tater fritter. I got the 3 meat BBQ platter of pulled pork, brisket and kielbasa. Kielbasa was great as was the pulled pork(comes out not really sauced, but they have 2BBQ sauces on the table). Brisket wasn’t too dry, but not my favorite. Sides were Mac and cheese(good) and beans(just ok). Their main BBQ is not bad, but they had a Homemade Blueberry habanero BBQ sauce which had a great heat and flavor. Wife got the open faced BBQ sandwich on corn bread with their summer slaw(vinegar and no mayo, with celery seeds) — also tasty.

I eat here regularly and have had most of what is on the menu. The ribs are so meaty that I usually can only eat ½ of the ½ rack. The slaw is just amazing– a yummy vinegar base. The best is the Texan burger with the cheese«skirt». I can’t eat burgers anywhere else now. The owners are very willing to individualize food achieving to your preferences. All for the French Fries with the rub on them. Awesome.

Something Grilled wasn’t our first choice for BBQ when my boyfriend and I ventured out after craving it, but it will be from here on out! We picked another placed based on reviews but once we arrived and saw an empty restaurant and signs saying out of certain items we quickly looked for an alternate. Something Grilled was close enough and was reviewed decently enough for us to give it a try. Something Grilled is located in a small shopping center that you might miss if you blink but don’t let that stop you from stopping in because it was well worth it. We were greeted and seated quickly and had the pleasure of some great conversation with the owners wife(I’m sorry I didn’t catch her name). We got an in depth history of their restaurant(her husband is the owner and chef) as well some great recommendations. After drooling over the menu and smells wafting from the kitchen we both decided on a 3 meat combo(we chose brisket, pulled pork and pulled chicken). I can’t even begin to explain the absolute deliciousness of our meals. Hands down the best BBQ you’ll get in the North!!! Not to mention how great the sides are! Something Grilled thank you for such a fantastic meal and great hospitality! You’ve gained some lifelong customers!

Ok, so I went out my Godson for one of his last meals as a civilian, he is going off to serve his country. I told him to pick the place, and he wanted BBQ. He and his friends had been to Something Grilled in the past and really enjoyed pulled pork every time. He also really liked the ribs. He wanted me to try good BBQ because my wife does not do BBQ. He told me I was missing the boat, and it was on his bucket list to convert me. So he schooled me on the finer points and told me how he and his mom had actually built a homemade smoker and how he was becoming a bit of a BBQ snob. I have to admit that I was pretty much zoning out, because I had no concept of the process involved in creating such a delicacy. I only know that it tastes good. I could just not believe that this kid used to sit on my lap as boy, and now he was teaching me about something I apparently really enjoy and had no idea I did. So the people at Something Grilled could not have been kinder, one of them over heard our conversation about how he was going off to serve his country and they personally thanked him. When we left, I think it was the owner, he held the door for my God Son and shook his hand and wished him luck. Someone else offered to pay for his meal before we left, but since this was my treat, and my honor, I politely declined the offer. The service was quick and the pulled pork sandwich was awesome. My Godson was smiling the whole time, feeling like a million bucks. So great job on everything and thank you. This was one of the best and most wholesome experiences I have had in a very long time while dining out. Thank you for being a part of it.

(4) ~ Very good overall food & service. Note: The sign out front just says«BBQ»…And there are(12) Family Booths &(6) Tables for eating-in…so plenty of room for families;) To eat-in, just sit down and the waiter/waitress will come over, otherwise, for take-out, go to the counter. MYBBQMENU: ** Baby Back Ribs =(4.25) Very good bark and smoke ring!;) Now if they can do either St. Louis –or– Spare Ribs… I’ll be in heaven, b/c they’re BIGGER;)lol ** BBQ Sauce =(4) very good SIDES: ** Smoked candied sweet potato =(4) very good… although the smoke note is very subtle… * Mac-n-Cheese =(3.5) good, but I like mine with some crust for texture;) * Onion Straws =(3.5) good, but I like Onion Rings better, b/c they’re easier to eat;)lol DESSERTS: ** Caramel Apple Parfait =(4) very creative… essentially an Apple Pie a-la-mode in a Mason jar;) DRINKS: * Unsweetened Ice Tea =(3.5) good

I’ve been wanting to check SG for a while now and when I spotted a Doubletake Offer of $ 10 for $ 20 I jumped on it. The good: The wings were tremendous. The wood really imparts a unique taste. Good size and the sauce was tasty; a nice blend of sweet and spicy. And I’m glad the sauce was only mopped on and not dumped. Less is more. The Chumpies were great as was its dipping sauce. Also really enjoyed the spinach and the potato salad. Speaking of the potato salad, kudos to the owner who used common sense and bagged it separately from the hot food. These are the kind of details that separate a good restaurant from a great one. The bad: The ribs were the puniest, least meaty I’ve ever had. I mean, even for baby backs, these were a joke. No rib was longer than 3″. Anyone paying full price for these is a fool. Yes, I take my ribs THAT seriously. Just because Exton is arguably the most vanilla, homogenous part of Chester County doesn’t mean you have to dumb things down by offering baby backs instead of St. Louis cuts or spares. There’s already a Chili’s on Route 100. It’s really a shame because the wood grilling is something unique. To the owners, respectfully, if you want to be taken seriously as a BBQ destination — hell, as a restaurant, in general — lose the baby backs and get on board with larger ribs so customers can get the value they deserve.
