I wasn’t super impressed. Not really any«chicken specialities» for a chicken festival. Lots of chickens in the nearby area, but that was about it… no chicken dishes, no eggs for sale. Fun festival, but not too much in the way of chicken. Hard to park nearby as well, probably will skip next year.

Who knew chickens had their own festival right in old town Fair Oaks? There were many great booths with vendors of all types and it really had the feel of a super-sized street fair. I decided to come for the breakfast at the clubhouse which was a great deal and start to the day prior to walking around the streets. The kids taking orders and serving were so sweet and doing such a great job! There was music and entertainment on the main stage and a large kids area filled with free games and giveaways that was fantastic for little ones! Surprising as it may seem, I never heard or saw a chicken dance once, which isn’t a bad thing! But I was really surprised to see how many feral chickens were actually roaming around the streets and parks! Too bad I didn’t find any fertile eggs to bring home, but maybe next time!

A fun local festival. Lots of vendors, food trucks, local businesses, live music & of course the Fair Oaks Chickens – they were out & about while we were there. What more could one ask for? Glad we attended yesterday.

I like chickens. I like festivals. I like chicken festivals. I really liked the Fair Oaks Chicken Festival. I don’t make it to a lot of festivals and those I’ve been to this year, for the most part, have been somewhat disappointing. Not this one. Not everything here is chicken. But there are rubber chicken key chains, chicken«cluck» noise cups, chicken nachos, chicken kabobs, a couple people in chicken costume, metal chickens, ceramic chickens, Day of the Dead chicken figurines, and, of course real chickens wandering around — this is the Village. Many vendors of many wares(as you’d expect from vendors at a festival), a dedicated food area with food trucks and vendors, a pancake breakfast(sans chicken), beer tasting area, live music at the Chickenstock stage, and all the local businesses in the village welcoming the visitors. Fairly quiet at the 10:00am start but quickly crowded in by 11:00am. Anytime there’s a gig in the Village Park, plan on parking a few blocks away and hoofing your way in. So much to see, so little time. Definitely one of the larger annual festivals here in the Village and definitely worth a visit this year or next. Ran in to a couple Unilocal friends. That was really cool.
