Peking Chef Restaurant

They use skinny spaghetti noodles for their lo mein– need I say more? Chicken and cashews was obnoxiously salty. The only thing that saved this place from one star was the crispy eggplant… the sauce that came with it had way too much vinegar but it was tolerable. There are so many other choices in this area so don’t go here.

I’ve ordered from this place 3 times now, only because there’s no other chinese delivery by my house. I tried ordering different dishes each time thinking maybe it would be different. Nope, each order was as bad the previous one. I won’t even go into detail about why it’s bad, just be warned.

I’ve been ordering the same dish for 15 years, chicken & broccoli, it’s tasty enough, it can be hit or miss however, either the broccoli is soggy, or raw, it’s rare it’s cooked correctly these days. New chef or management is my guess. Triple Delight is good, not a fan of the egg rolls, the springs rolls are ok. They include lots of condiments with delivery, very nice on the phone and when they arrive at my door. Is it the best Chinese food around, doubt it, but it’s close to home and a reasonably priced. As another poster mentioned, at times there seems to be a slimy texture to their sauces, like a thick gravy is what comes to mind, all the same, I’d prefer not to have that unexpected surprise in my dish. I’ve had better and by far worse. If you’re looking for an overall good meal without having to cook, go for it. Hubby and I can order 2 entrees, spring rolls and chicken fried rice for $ 32.00 including tip. That’s a lot of food, usually ends up being dinner and our lunches the next day. The restaurant is in a strip mall with crappy parking thank to the gym next door, save yourself the hassle, go for delivery!

We have used this restaurant for delivery for years and have been usually satisfied with quality, price and speed of service but…
Over the last 6 to 8 months the quality has definitely deteriorated to the point where I needed to write this review.
Friday night, we ordered the spare ribs, shrimp curry and tofu with mixed veggies. The ribs were old and completely dried out. The curry had no curry flavor and the tofu was TOUGH, needed to use a knife TOUGH.
Sorry but you have lost our business.

We’ve been ordering from here for years, it started out because it was the only place that deliver to our house… We live in Fairfax station near the parks. Anyway, they are fast delivery and the orders are always exactly like we asked! The Hunan chicken is amazing, and the fried rice is generous with all types of meats and veggies! If you do need extra sauces make sure to ask, they don’t put more than a couple per meal.

I mean the restaurant itself is nothing to brag about, but the food is tasty !

Very good Chinese in the Burke Centre area. I suggest General Tso Chicken and their Triple Delight which has Chicken, Beef, and Shrimp. Also the Spring Rolls and Egg Drop Soup are to die for.
They do not have a very good area to dine in though. They never give you enough sauces if you do delivery too.

This is my favorite Chinese restaurant! I’m a frequent customer, and only twice, out of the billions of times that I’ve eaten there, have I not been satisfied with the food. They do not store any of their food, and make it fresh on the spot once you order. It’s always very hot. Its family operated, and they are all extremely nice. It is not a fancy restaurant by any means. Its a quick sit down to eat or take out place. If you want a place nicely done with great interior design I suggest you look somewhere else.

–People with allergies or who are just picky eaters: they will gladly and capably make substitutions (vegetables, etc.) I have gone many times with complicated orders and gotten exactly what I want EVERY TIME.
Only one con; not much of a restaurant setting. Three booths make up the seating, fluorescent lighting.
BEST THINGS TO GET:
–Shrimp Fried rice: enormous portion, great flavor, filling
–Kung Pao– spicy but trust me, just try it!

I do not understand the high reviews. People who like the Peking Chef food cannot have been to a good Chinese restaurant.
I ordered the curry chicken to go (today 5÷16÷2014). Tasteless. Something in the food is pretty slimy.
Not coming back.

My go to Chinese place in Burke. I usually get the egg drop soup and beef with broccoli and they never disappoint. I like the steamed dumplings and spring rolls as well. They are always nice on the phone and deliver within a reasonable amount of time.

My wife and I have ordered food here a few times now and it has always been delicious. As Lydia said, consistent. That is something that is a little hard to find around here. I ordered the General Tso’s chicken and found it too sweet and not spicy enough. The flavor profile was good though. Now I know, next time ask for it spicy. My wife has ordered the pepper steak a couple of times and it is always good to go. The quality of meat they use seems to be a bit better than most places as well. Also, the crab rangoon are really, really good. We ordered the pu-​pu platter last time we were in and it was too much fried food. I only ate a couple of pieces from it and felt sick from the grease. I just don’t do well with friend foods much anymore. The food was good, just couldn’t handle it. The chicken skewers on the platter had a very unique flavor though. One that I am not familiar with in Chinese food.
Big picture, my wife and I enjoy the consistency and quality of meat used in the food. This has become our new go to place in the Burke area.

I’m not sure why the high ratings. Their food has little to no flavor. It is not particularly fresh and if you order delivery they won’t so much as give you a chopstick or soy sauce packet with your order. Overall very disappointed.

Ever since Ho’s Dynasty left Burke, I’ve been looking for a good Chinese place in the area. This is no Ho’s Dynasty, but it’s as close as I’ve gotten so far. The food is delicious, not overly greasy, and not too salty. And it’s far more reasonably priced. I’ll be going back here over and over.

Yummy. We tried the kung pow bean curd, was yummy not greasy, crab rangoons, eggrolls. It’s reasonably priced and fresh cooked. We look forward to going back and trying something else off the menu– I guess they also do pad thai and a few thai dishes.

First time trying Chinese in this area. Crab Rangoons, Sesame chicken were good. Szechuan chicken NOT as good as other places I’ve been. Overall, it was OK but I will try somewhere else before I eat here again.

Overall, very good food and friendly customer service. Not the best I’ve had, but it’s up there.

This is my go– to for Chinese food in the ‘burbs. The quality of food and pleasant demeanor of the owners are worthy of 5 stars!

This local Chinese Take Out/​Eat In is excellent. I love their food because it’s not as greasy as other Chinese places. Kung Pao Chicken is one of the best that I’ve tasted in the area. I order out from this place regularly and I love it. You should give them a try. You won’t be disappointed.
