Sun Splash

I have visited many tanning salons and this one ranks very high on my list. It is a small business, this is a positive to me. Yes, it means they have a limited number of beds but they also have better prices and friendlier people. The typical staff at a typical tanning salon leaves a lot to be desired in terms of customer service and overall attitude. The lovely ladies I have experienced at Sun Splash are a pleasure. It is worth the slight hassle with parking and only occasional wait for a bed to be greeted with a smile and treated with respect from someone who isn’t a pushy, snotty, 17 year old who already knows all there is to know about the world (looking at you Palm Beach Tan!).

Great place to tan! The girls are super friendly and you can’t beat the prices. I’ve been to other places in the area and the girls were rude and I paid way too much for a tan. Definitely suggest going there!

I have been going to this salon for like ten years and it has been convenient, friendly and reasonably priced. Recently, last two times, there was a problem, the radio doesnt work (yes I am probably the last person on the planet that doesnt bring my own device) and the face bronzer didnt work. Usually there are staff that are great there but recently, maybe because it is summer, has really gone down hill. I asked to be credited for the session where face bronzer didnt work and not only was the teenage girl nasty she was incompetant and offensive, makes me want to look somewhere else, isnt worth it/

This is a nice, little tanning salon and the prices are good. A lot better than other tanning salons in the area. The beds are good and you can tell the bulbs are changed regularly. This place is very clean. They do sale lotions. The parking lot is horrible, it’s so hard to find a spot.

Great service, clean beds and rooms. A must need during the dreary winter (or spring) months for heliotherapy. Definitely going back!

What can’t be said that hasn’t already been said about the Sun? Sure you could go outside and tan, but why do that when you can have the professional and superb services offered here? Plus, when you are tanning outside you have to deal with bugs, the judging eyes of your neighbors, and that one guy that stares… a lot.
Let’s get down to the brass tacks. Sun Splash is about the people and quality services without charging an arm and a leg. And that my friends is worth all the tanning oil and silly goggles in Jersey.

I started coming to Sun Splash about a year ago to get a little sun on my paste-​y, winter-​y body. The girls here are always friendly, very knowledgeable about the lotions, and are quick to take payment and clean the beds. The place is very sanitary and I’ve never been grossed out by anything in the rooms (unlike other places). Gold’s Gym is in the same complex and I think you get a discount at Sun Splash if you’re a member. The 30 day unlimited package for the level 1 beds is $ 49. To upgrade is an extra $ 3 or so.
With the gym being so close, this place can definitely get crowded so don’t come during peak hours if you can help it.

If you live in the Burke/​Fairfax Station area, Sun Splash is a convenient location.
HIGHS: minimal wait time, location (I don’t know of any other tanning salons in Burke), nice front desk staff, clean facility, sometimes coupons are sent in the mail
LOWS: The parking in the shopping center is awful! Sun Splash is located next to Golds Gym. Finding parking in the afternoon, evening, or weekend can be a challenge. Also, Sun Splash does not offer spray tanning. Finally, I don’t feel that the beds are as strong as some other tanning locations.

This is a very nice, clean facility. I am not a fan of tanning, but had to go before a vacation. The prices are always high, in my opinion, at tanning salons. If I HAD to go again, I would definitely come back here. Its a very well run salon.

I liked this tanning salon. I dont tan often but I was looking for some place to go to that wasnt going to cost me $ 25 for a 12 minute session. I found this place. The staff is friendly and the beds are decent. The PRICE– let me not forget is fantastic. You have 3 or 4 bed options to choice from and then spray tan options. I paid $ 11 for the 12 minute bed that I believe was the second to top bed they have. They also offer package deals for 3 – 5 uses or monthly use.
When tanning you’ll have the option to face tan or not. They have a radio connected to the bed and you also have an ipod player to use too. I was a little confused on how to use the fan but I guess I didnt listen well enough the first time. I thought the knob next to the radio worked the radio but nope it controls the fan– FYI. The rooms are small and cute. They have plenty of tan lotions in the front to chose from. Overall– great experience

okay, my review, i must be honest, is going to be a little bit biased. why? because i worked at a tanning salon for almost 2 years. i recently quit because i was commuting 45 minutes one way to make really bad pay. anyways, i felt myself falling into the SAD slump and i needed to start tanning again, ASAP because i really couldnt stand it anymore.
i had two options. hollywood tans, where i would rather take a stapler to my face because they use terrible lotions, are overrated and over priced or another place called jungle tan that i had passed a couple times. well, a friend suggested sun splash. so there is a third option.
sun splash is closest to my current address, and very well priced. they have student rates. there are 4 levels of beds.
1– is your normal 20 min, no face tanner. i cant sit still for more than 10 minutes. nexxxt
2-​is a 15 min, 2 face tanners. not for me.
3 – 12 min, 3 face tanners. BINGO
4 – 12 min (i think or 10?) stand up. eh, eh. ill throw that in a few times to avoid the pale underarms and pressure points (tanning lingo, sorry).
i was happy to see that they use California Tan products, as that is what my previous salon uses. they are among the best tanning products in the country. (they use them on sunset tan if that gives you an idea). I was disappointed in the selection. they only have a few step ones of one lotion and step twos of another. weird. many of the products are among the lower end of Cal Tan but probably because college students cant afford much more than $ 30/​lotion (man, i was spoiled with my discount!).
i am giving it 4 stars because it is a smaller mom and pop shop with a few other locations, it is VeRY clean, it is relaxing, and the girls i have met have been really nice. i enjoyed the level 3 bed as well, although i wish it fully closed. the girls do need a little more lotion knowledge, i had talked to one about lotions and she sort of looked at me. :sigh: that was my favorite part.
