Cafe Express

So this place was a pleasant surprise. I was driving around looking for a quick place to have lunch and I came across this little gem. They have a wide variety of sandwiches and other dishes. It is primarily a lunch crowd here. The sandwiches are reasonably priced (around 6.50) and the service is fast. They also serve halal food. The place itself is clean and I would definitely come back again.

In a world of frugal servings and continuous price gouging I would say this place isn’t so bad. I give the owners props for creating a simple menu for those of us who don’t want to stand and contemplate for more than 10 minutes. I had a grilled chicken wrap and it wasn’t bad for a quick deli sandwich — lettuce, tomato, chicken breast, and a bit of dressing. The total (just for the sandwich) was $ 6.10, slightly expensive for what it is, but the sandwich was substantial and filling so I left with a slight food baby and an emptier wallet.

Good food/​selection. Separate access from main building so don’t get lost in the lobby with elevators.

The people behind the counter are great, the food selection isn’t too bad (just a quick lunch counter), and they make a mean ham and cheese on croissant. I know, I shouldn’t be eating those if I want to watch my weight, but it tastes so good. Their avocado pita for lunch is good too. I’ve never had a problem with the avocados being to hard or soft, they’re for Goldilocks: just right.

I would like to personally thank you for putting a RED RIPE TOMATO on my club sandwich. I’d also like to give you kudos for using a quality bread instead of some wafer thin crap that other delis use.

Honestly, how hard it to ask for a real tomato on your sandwich? This place gave me a GIGANTIC slice of a real, ripe, juicy tomato. The bread they used was also thick and perfectly toasted. The meat was piled high and the bacon was fresh. GREAT sandwich at a good price.
Along with the club, I got a piece of fried tilapia and some mac and cheese from their buffet. Both were very good, the tilapia tasty and the mac and cheese, well… cheesy. I think that this buffet idea is novel, really. More places should try something similar because it gives you such a great selection of real food (not frozen crap) that you don’t have to wait for.
There is a good reason why this place has been there for a long time, they serve good food.
