Hidden in one end of the shopping center in front of JC Penny on Level 1, this is the place in Fair Oaks Mall where all the kids can go wild! It’s hilarious to see a bunch of kids climbing, crawling, and jumping all over this play area with a sign that clearly says«No Climbing» — LOL! The play area is quite clean and most children seem quite respectful and considerate with taking their shoes off. The area is surrounded with cushioned seating so parents can supervise their children. If you happen to be shopping in this mall with kids, this is THE place to bring them to!

At Tyson’s every kid seems to be in the middle of a hyperactivity attack. At The Mall in Columbia there are kids way to big for the place. Thus, I am usually skeptical of indoor playgrounds. However, this was a good experience. This is the first time we have been to Fair Oaks since the Fun Zone opened, and the weather looked ominous when we got there. So after haircuts and Elevation Burger, we decided to let our boys run around for a while. The Fun zone is sort of tucked away in one of the arms of the mall. Not being right in the middle of everything is probably why it is less crazy than other places. For the most part the kids were running around, but not out of control. There seemed to be parents for every child, so unlike Columbia it does not appear to be a dumping ground while mommy, daddy, or nanny shop. The play stuff is the standard soft climbing stuff with the requisite soft slide. I know that stuff can get nasty, but right now it is still new enough that it looks clean and well kept up. In all, this will be the new go to place when my kids need to run on a rainy day.
