Great Gyro sandwich! Friendly staff. Quick, if you’re picking up food for lunch. #nuffsaid

This was our first visit. We attended a concert at George Mason and wanted to eat nearby. This is our ideal restaurant: great food, small setting, reasonable prices, and an owner that is engaging and friendly. The Greek combo appetizer was amazing– especially the caviar spread. The we had the chicken souvlaki, chicken kebob, and the salmon daily special. We’ll be back.

My husband and I love to go here! We normally get the Greek combo plate, Greek salad, pork chop special, lasagna, or the gyro plate. Their pork chops are always succulent and delicious, and the rice pilaf is perfect. Havabite catered the wedding rehearsal dinner and appetizer portion for our wedding earlier this year: Delicious Greek salad, dolmas, chicken souvlaki, and greek combo platters. We were not disappointed. Ida, the owner, is a sweetheart! We highly recommend this local establishment.

We were looking for something kind of fast and hearty and Haveabite delivered. Everything we ate was homemade and tasted great. WARNING… the calzones are huge, we had to share it. That allowed us to save room for desert, the baklava was the best we’ve ever had! Amir did a great job too, the service was spectacular and homie. We will definitely be back. Happy eating!

This place has the best pizza and steak and cheese in Fairfax. They have a assortment of great meals. From pork chops and lamb capama to chicken parm and all spaghettis. You can order pretty much anything and you’ll like it. The gyros and soulvakis are the best in Fairfax. Everything I’ve tried on the menu has been amazing. The service is amazing here and you won’t find a better mom and pop restaurant. I highly recommend it!

The food here is moderately good, but what really stands out is the service. I had the chicken parmigiana with spaghetti. While the food was good flavor-wise, it lacked when it came to texture. The chicken was mushy while the pasta was overcooked. However, I did get a good sized plate of food for what I had paid. On the other hand, the service here was stellar! I was greeted and seated immediately upon arrival. My order was taken immediately, and I was surprised at how quickly they got my order out. On top of that, the people that run this place are incredibly nice and will not hesitate to strike a conversation with you. While this restaurant is pretty quaint, it is a bit rundown. The floor is uneven and the men’s bathroom has mold and a sagging ceiling. Overall though, eating at Havabite is an enjoyable experience thanks to the taste of the food and the excellent service!

I have been meaning to write a review on this place for the past two weeks. My family and I moved to Fairfax about two months ago and after a long day of unpacking and getting our home in order, we decided to get out dinner at Havabite Eatery. It is a small place but what they lack in size, they more than make it up in food quality. I really hate that I cannot remember the name of the lady that helped us but she couldn’t have been sweeter. Honestly, the food was exceptional and while a little more expensive than I might like, the portions match the cost. Ultimately, I look forward to returning and enjoying a meal on the outdoor patio. Maybe I will remember the lady’s name this time.

Cute little place in Fairfax that I’ve been wanting to try for a while now. I have mixed feelings about it. First off, the place was packed so that’s always a good sign and it smelled great. Unfortunately, there was only a tiny one sided booth for my fiancé and I to sit in, but we made do. The owner came over to take our orders and I must say she was pretty pushy. At first I thought she was nice until she told my fiancé that he had made a bad decision with his order. Shouldn’t we be able to order what we want? We were a bit turned off so we decided to get the food to go. We both had the chicken souvlaki platter with Greek salad. The chicken was really tender and the tzatziki sauce was very good. The dressing for the salad was a little heavy on the oil, but had nice flavor. I just wish we’d had a better experience dining in.

Super casual, great for a quick bite, and fresh! Soup of the day was Greek soup– a spin on the usual chicken and rice. The grape leaves are a must as well. We will be back!

Delicious, reasonably priced Greek & Italian served by nice people. Fantastic gyro meat — try the greek pizza. On Tuesdays or Thursdays at lunch they often have a roast chicken special that’s pretty amazing, too.

The Greek gods were smiling upon me this afternoon when I decided I wasn’t feeling the soup I brought to work and after debating between jerk chicken or a gyro-gyro won out. I was led to Havabite by fellow Unilocalers, all who seemed to have very positive things to say about the place. I called around 12:50 and was told 10 minutes– sweet! I walked over from work and it was popping in the dining room when I arrived. Despite the thick crowd, my gyro was waiting for me upon arrival– hot and fresh. The woman cashing me out made sure I had utensils and napkins and off I went to enjoy this Greek feast! The actual sandwich is huge with a good portion of gyro meat on it– plus feta and tzatziki sauce. That gyro meat– WOW– so flavorful and tender! The tzatziki was amazing too– some of the best I’ve ever had! I could have easily drank the side cup that I requested for additional sauce ! For $ 10.25– this was hands down one of the best quick meals I’ve had in a long time, and by far the best lunch. Both employees I interacted with were so friendly too! I will absolutely return the next time I’m craving a gyro and I’d love to try some of their more suitable for sit down options as well!

If you’re looking for legit Greek food, Havabite has it in spades. Everything is freshly made and absolutely delicious. We tried the Greek pizza and the moussaka. The gyro meat on the Greek pizza was possibly the best I’ve ever tasted. I cannot wait to go back and try the actual sandwich. The moussaka I got had just come out of the oven moments before. It was such a huge portion that I ended up taking more than half of it home which turned out to be a good thing because it was even better the next day. The owner, Ida, even creates her own tea blend. We loved it so much we got two cups. Everything was so good that on the way to the car, my boyfriend said he wished he wasn’t full anymore just so he could order more food. Seriously you might overlook this place but do yourself a favor and don’t. :)

Small, quaint and cozy with an old country charm. The food is delicious, and the people are really nice. Excellent place in the heart of old town Fairfax. I had the baked lasagna which was delicious and my husband had the moussaka which he absolutely enjoyed. Both of the dishes were very well seasoned and cooked to perfection because pasta can be easily overcooked if not cooked with subtlety. Will definitely be coming back.

This was a great find in Old Town Fairfax. My gyros platter was delicious(very good meat) and filling for a guy trying to avoid carbs. We ordered a pepperoni pizza for the kids and I was some of the best pizza we have ever eaten. The marinara sauce was spiced exquisitely, and the pepperoni was of a very high quality. The kids went nuts over it, and my wife and I broke our diet and tried some, too. The seating is a bit cramped, but the patio option was good for a late summer night. The staff was very friendly and warm, and the service was quicker than I expected. We are definitely coming back.

Spent a gorgeous summer evening on the patio for dinner. Our server was great and was very attentive throughout our entire meal. We were the last guests at the end of the night and he was in no rush to make us leave. The food is amazing and tastes like it’s made with a Greek mother’s love. Lots of great flavor and the portions are huge! I ordered the moussaka — it was so good I had to keep myself from licking the plate clean in front of our friends. My bf got the lamb chop special and said the meat fell off the bone. Our friend said the pork chop is unreal and it’s definitely worth trying when it comes up on the specials menu. We’ll definitely be back at Havabite soon!

Came with my sister and a friend for dinner on a whim, and it’s a pleasant surprise! I’m not a big fan of the location as traffic could be bad and parking may be difficult… Especially if you’re not familiar with the area. The first time I visited, I decided to go safe and ordered shish kabob, which is pork. It’s delicious! The pork was well marinated and somewhat tender(not as tender as I would like, but it’s pretty good!). The rice… I don’t know what kind of rice they serve, but they’re a bit fluffy and has a special seasoning that makes it taste awesome! The serving size is huge. I ended up taking half of my order home for next day’s lunch. Other people in my group got the Spanakopita plate. I’m not really sure what it is — seems like some sort of pie/dough crust baked with feta cheese and spinach mix stuffing. I tried some and didn’t like the taste — I heard it’s the dill that might be working against my tastebud. The service was decent. The servers were friendly, but I didn’t like how they pushed us to get salad… after we ordered the entre, our server asked, «would you like house salad or greek salad to go with your entre?» Made it sound like the salad comes with the food. And surprise surprise… no it doesn’t! It’s not a big deal because the salad(I got house salad) wad delicious and not expensive. But still… I don’t like being misled. Overall, good experience and good food. I’ll be back to try some more adventurous dishes!

This has been on my to-try list for a while since I live close by. I ordered the spanakopita since my friend recommended it. I was not disappointed! The portion was really generous and I even had leftovers. I wish it was a little more cheesy but that’s just my preference. Would come back.

Haveabite Eatery is a Fairfax institution! My husband and I used to pop in here for breakfast every so often when we lived in Fairfax, and as such, when we found ourselves in the area around lunch time this weekend we knew where we had to go! I was excited to see that they are now open on Sundays, and although it looks like they don’t have breakfast anymore they do still have all the tasty-stick to your ribs-Greek favorites I was expecting. The décor is traditional Greek diner, the food is fantastic, the service is friendly-what more could you want in a place? Plus, the Gyro meat is some of the best I have ever had! I just love Haveabite. There is definitely a reason it has been around since the 70’s even with a change or two in owners.

Great local restaurant, small with outside seating available. This is a great local eatery with Greek and Italian food. Their Gyros are fantastic, love their steak and cheese subs and their pizza. Staff is super, service is great even during periods where they are busy. Go early or at an off hour in order to get seated easily. They close early, 9 pm generally, but this place is highly recommended. Went back to Havabite recently to take a friend who hadn’t been before. Before that it had been a while. This place shouldn’t be overlooked as just another restaurant. Good food, close, reasonably priced and worth a trip. I’ll be taking a trip there for dinner a little more often.

Solid 4.5, bumped up 5 stars for great service :) Came here with a friend and had a really nice lunch experience. I had the baked moussaka and my friend the spanakopita, with fried calamari as an appetizer. The spanakopita came with a plateful of broccoli and tzatziki sauce. Oh it was delicious … spinach and feta is already a good combo, with hints of dill and covered by a flaky baked outside. So delish. yes I realize I’m reviewing my friends dish, not even my own, but I was pretty impressed. I’ve never had moussaka before so I wasn’t quite used to the slightly mushy texture. Reminded me of lasagna, but without the pasta noodles. It was an interesting taste, and I’m glad I tried it. I’m also not too used to the type of rice they served with it, I’m more used to the typical asian white rice or basmati. Definitely not bad, just not what I’m used to. Would definitely come back and try the other traditional Greek dishes on the menu! Complimentary garlic bread with herb toppings was delicious as well, I almost asked for seconds if it weren’t that my entrée was such a generous portion I barely could finish half! Best thing though is that the waitstaff and owner are so sweet. Very attentive and even called us «baby» as we left. Aww :) Gives a real homey/cozy feel to the experience. Will come back for more!
