Nothing special except the decorations — vintage toys and movie posters. Food is okay. I won’t rush back.

Koffee Klatch seems to be a reasonable diner option when you want to get your average omelet, burgers, or milkshake. It has a very hometown Fairfax kind of feeling but nothing really stands out. We stopped by here after a hike at Cateract Falls on the way back to the Bay Area so it did the job for an after hike snack.

Not a hit on Koffee Klatch’s food or drink quality. This review is rather, on the general experience if visiting by bicycle, partly to blame on the bike owners trust. Two different times and different owners, bikes stolen from front of Koffee Klatch in the past two weeks. If you are visiting this location on bike, be sure to lock up before going in to grab a bite or a drink, even its for seconds. Laying bike against the busy street window does not count!

This place is amazing! I’ve come here for breakfast after our Saturday morning screenings and it’s the perfect way to end the morning after a good movie. Even if the movie sucks at least I know that deliciousness will most likely await me at the Koffee Klatch. Parking is easy and the wait isn’t very long. Both for getting a table and for getting served. I can’t say much about the actual coffee here since I’m not a coffee drinker. Though sometimes I wish I was. Just so I can say such classic phrases as «bah I haven had my morning coffee yet!» or «that’s a damn good cup of coffee!» I’m just not that guy. But I secretly want to be. To bad coffee tastes like butt. But yeah, breakfast is delish! Do come.

I’m not quite sure how Koffee Klatch got 4.5 stars. My wife and I will never go back. The service was OK, as was the coffee, but the food ranged from OK to downright gross. I had one of the vegetarian scrambles and, as usual, I got the best meal of the bunch, although I ended up having to add quite a bit of hot sauce to give it an enjoyable flavor. My wife’s dish — an omelet with hamburger and tomatoes — just tasted off. I’m sorry I asked for a bite. Bloody awful. I went to Koffee Klatch for the reviews, but also because somebody had raved about the hash browns. I have to say, those hash browns that came with everybody’s food were as bland as can be. Just plain, grated potato with little seasoning. My 2 ½ year old daughter got a Jason’s Favorite from the kid’s menu. Ham, cheese and egg on an english muffin. Passable, but my daughter, who loves, loves her cheese turned her nose up at the cheap American slices melted on top. Who uses American cheese anymore? It must have been a Costco special. Another Fairfax dining disappointment. As a very infrequent reviewer on Unilocal — probably my last here — this review will no doubt be removed, but I hope that the word is spread. Stay away. There are plenty of other breakfast places that outshine Koffee Klatch.

I love this place. It’s go all of the usual yummy breakfast food, pancakes, french toast, hash browns and so fun twists on oldies. I love the Klatch Muffin Breakfast, on an english muffin, over easy egg, avacado and salsa! Yummy! It’s my favorite breakfast place ever!

Be a local go to the Koffee Klatch. This is your basic diner, really good, really big portions. They even serve very good coffee. I’m a fan!

Yum for breakfast! The Coffee Klatch muffin is amazing — open faced English muffin, sunny side up eggs, cheese, avo and salsa. Good crispy home fries and I’m usually never satisfied with ‘em so that’s saying a lot. Their coffee on the other hand is yuck. You should know: Not very many tables, but has a counter so you can dine solo You’ll probably have to wait a little, but there’s a bench right outside. Its hard to have a quiet conversation there. Everything is about $ 2 more than you want and expect to pay

This is a decent breakfast joint and definitely a community institution. The service is great and they work very well with young children under foot without batting an eye. I was not particularly impressed with my eggs and potatoes. Both were under salted and under seasoned(and I’m usually very conservative with salt so I’m guessing there was no salt at all on them). My husband was similarly unimpressed with his food. It was OK but not scrumptious enough to have us going back for more. The verdict, if you have kids, this is fine but otherwise check out Barefoot Café or Bubba’s Diner.

Koffee Klatch is great! its the down home community spot. this place reminds me of all those great little coffee shops down in Ocean Beach(San Diego), right off the water, but with better food and slightly higher prices. Its a place you go with friends after a long night out, or with that special someone after a long night in *wink *wink. They are good at keeping your coffee hot and full, you can tell the waitresses have been at it for a while, cause they seem to know everyone. The pancakes and omelets and home fries are tasty, and the portions are a lil on the ridiculous side. In the front window of this joint are pictures, cut out and propped up of all the«town folk»…doesnt get more«Fairfax», then that!

This review is actually a little partial due to the fact that My Mom, Wanda and Auntie Hazel were the actuall ones who opened the«Klatch» way back when. The décor is and has been there pretty much from day one and the large mirrow was actually bought from a large theater in San Fran. that was closing down. Mya Father and Uncle brought it over in the back of an old pick-up truck… It was bought for $ 75.00 yep !! The Happiness is board is a signature piece that actually has made it’s way down to Harlingen Texas when my family moved there and the 2nd Koffe Klatch was open… same menu same heart. I grew up in that restraunt and have many fond memories of that place. Though my Mom has since passed my memories of her, looking thru that window are some of the dearest I hold to my heart. That counter has seen the likes of many great people including a young singer trying to get his band off and running, my Mom would look the guys in there blood shot eyes the morning after a gig and tell them look guys you need to cut your hair shave your beards and go to work… good thing they didn’t listen we might not have had the history of the Greatful Dead, and Mr. Jerry Garcia !!! Good thing she stuck to cooking !!! LOLOLOL It’s been a few years since Ive been in the Klatch however when I was nothing had changed, though it did look a little smaller.? I hope everyone who stops by the Klatch enjoys it my Mom would have wanted it that way. God Bless Diane Knox

At first I was scared to go into any business that had the name«Klatch» in it. .. maybe that’s just me. But after needing a good solid breakfast my girl and I walked in here. We’ve always had counter seats which is nice since it’s just the two of us. Anytime they have the homeade corned beef hash on the special, get it! I’ve only had some slightly better in portland. Strong coffee, quick service, breakfast basics, great movie posters and a monkey on a bike in the window front make this one of my top breakfast spots.

I am just a perfect score destroyer. Sorry Klatch! Koffee Klatch is a great place to go for mediocre, slightly pricey par-greasy-spoon-diner food. From the line going out the door and the set-up of the small counter lined interior, I thought I was in for a treat. I put in my name, smelled some good smelling food, and saw some seriously delicious looking pancakes and hashed browns coming out of the kitchen. Unfortunately, the food looks better than it tastes. The waffle was pretty much bland(but the strawberries on top was a nice addition), I had to pay 1.25 extra for real maple syrup, and the dish was luke warm. My eggs with veg were good, with a decent amount of filling, but were nothing fancy, or super flavorful. Same goes for the hashed browns, though they were cooked fairly perfectly. The service was very warm and friendly. They were rather attentive(I sat at the counter), and let me take my time figuring out what to order. In the end, I’ll probably just make my own breakfast at home, as it would be a touch more trouble, but worth the comparatively overpowering deliciousness.

Love this place! The best hash browns I have ever had, not to mention Eggs Benedict. Great service, great prices, and always a more then decent meal. Oh yeah, and the bacon is never greasy like most diners… always a thick cut and perfectly crisp!

Koffee Klatch meets all of my exacting diner standards — friendly, good service, inexpensive, and tasty. I’ll go 30 minutes out of my way to eat here. Oh, and try the turkey club.

I’m not sold on the olde-tymey décor – the retro wallpaper and peeling naugahyde barstools are neither charming nor ironic, and a real cash register would probably ring me up a lot faster than the hand-crank one coupled with the tax table tacked to the wall – but the food can’t be beat. The menu is extensive and everything I’ve had from it has been superb. I like best the scrambles, especially with feta(coincidentally, my favorite is called Lauren’s Favorite, though not after me since I substitute avocado and spinach for the sundried tomatoes, substantially reducing the coincidence…) and the fact that they’ll fry the hell out of your hash browns when you ask for them well done. The waffles are scrum-deli-icious, too. So if you like the Mayberry diner gig, fine. Come for the small-town flavor and old movie posters, but you’ll be back for the great chow.

More evidence that time in Fairfax stopped back in the 60’s: the bar stools, the old-timey cash register, the weird wall paper– it’s all there for you to sit back and marvel at. Plus, the food is cheap, plentiful, and diner-style greasy without being gross. Be sure to read the whole special board before ordering; I always forget and am disappointed when I only remember to check after I’ve ordered. I like to go there on Sunday mornings to drink coffee and watch the Sunday morning mountain-biker crowd. You can always rely on this as a place to go and feel home again.

Koffee Klatch is the quintessential home-town coffee shop that you’d expect to see in black & white episodes of «Leave it to Beaver» or «The Andy Griffith Show». It’s layout is small rather than large, more homey than ritzy, and well-lit instead of sultry. Though the patrons are largely caucasian and well heeled, their ages range from glory-days to golden-years with no single group dominating the distribution. On another note, families with small children are usually present, but the kids are unbelievably well behaved. The morning vibe is complemented by large windows and light colored walls that amplify the interior’s natural luminescence, while lighthearted artwork consisting of older movie promotions creates a subtle décor that delights and sooths a wide range of generations. The staff and it’s level of service was surprisingly pleasant. They maintained a good mix of socializing with the regulars and maintaining expedient service.(note: up here, MANY of their customers are regulars). I ordered scrambled eggs with link sausage, hash browns and toast. Eggs were done just right… and though the sausages were small, they gave you five of them. But what truly separates the men from the boys with this style of breakfast is the hash browns… and these hash browns were beyond reproach. Cooked in a mat approximately ¾″ thick and browned to a perfectly golden color, they had a flawless consistency that was slightly crunchy on the edges and soft in the middle. Koffee Klatch is good and fast. And although it ain’t cheap, few should expect it to be given it’s fairly generous portions, the foods impeccable preparation, and it’s location in Marin County. If your drifting through Fairfax and hankering for quality diner food with a homey vibe, it’s worth checking out regardless of who you’re with.

10 stars!!! What a happy day, that I can Unilocal this place first! Remember those local joints you used to go to as a kid? Wooden tables, the amber water glasses with the ridges on the bottom, the huge amounts of delicious food, the friendly waitresses, and a cool counter to sit at? Well, it’s still alive at the Koffee Klatch. Last weekend’s breakfast of eggs benedict with a crabcake instead of ham was so good we didn’t say a word except«mmmmm» and«more coffee» until it was gone. We also tried the pancakes – to die for: light, fluffy, tasty, and served with fresh maple syrup. The coffee was excellent too, and our friendly waitress was happy to over caffeinate us. We left stuffed, satsified, and happy and ready to hike those calories off on Tam. This place is the best reason to get up early on a Sunday in the bay area!
