So disappointed! I have always loved bubba’s but if your ordering a pick-up, look over your order thoroughly. The counter tried to over-charge us & neither order was correct. The food itself was mediocre & resembled something from a mall food court. In-short, if you plan on ordering food for pick-up, be aware.

This was a good place to have breakfast but wow things have change. Where are the owners you guys better get involved because you are losing a lot of customers.

That place has gone south since it has changed owner. Their motto use to be: where greasy meets organic. Now their motto should be: where greasy beats organic.

I decided I should write a review about Buba’s since I have been going there since it first opened and I lived a two minute walk away. I have lunch there 2 — 3 times per month, and generally think the food is quite good. It really has been a near perfect diner all these years. But not anymore. I had the turkey club sandwich and it was acceptable. The Coke was too watered down for my taste, however. As I sat and ate, I reflected on how many times I had been here. And I realized it was no longer the good old Buba’s. I think once they hit Triple D on TV, the original owner sold the place. It has never been the same. It seems like there is a different server every time, and the cooks are the dishwashers and the dishwashers the cooks. Sorry but Buba’s has seen better days.

Super place for a lazy weekend breakfast. Funny enough my daughter and I stopped by because she wanted to have a burger at 11am. We did have an early breakfast at home that morning. So the food looked so good we both ended up having a second breakfast! Pancake s for me waffles for her. Best date ever! Great speedy service, delicious food, happy employees and a great vibe. I have been to Bubbas for dinner often, but now breakfast– brunch will be our new thing Our total was about $ 30.00 for large dishes, juice and coffee. Very casual, and my 4year old was given crayons and a picture to color in.

It’s sad that this is not the place it used to be… My family and I would come here all the time when I was younger and the food was always a hit. Unfortunately the same can not be said of the new Bubba’s Diner. I had two very unfortunate incidents here. The first incident was a slice of pie that had mold in it. When I told the waiter she was sympathetic and said that the bakery they get the pies from must have made a mistake. Bubba’s used to make their own pies fresh. The second incident was when I ordered a coffee milkshake togo and I sipped the milkshake before leaving. Coffee and vanilla milkshakes don’t taste the same and I told the waiter that it was a vanilla and not a coffee milkshake. The waiter who made the milkshake stormed up to me and yelled at me saying that I had it wrong and it was a coffee milkshake. I was extremely offended and will never return. After talking with the manager she said the next milkshake will be on the house but I refuse to go back after two very bad experiences.

i came here probably for the same reasons everyone else comes here thats from out of town, it was featured on Diners, Drive ins, and Dives. I got the soft-shell crab because it was a featured dish… it was terrible. no seasoning at all. the fruit was good and fresh though. the service was terrible. i came with a bunch of coworkers(which in there defense they had gotten something different than me and they enjoyed their meals a lot more than i did) we needed to split the checks and so i wrote it out to make it easier on him so when i spoke him and showed him, he got mad and rolled his eyes at me. i can understand if he’s the only server there but honestly he wasn’t… its bad when the busser is doing a better job than you are. oh and their ice tea was rancid and the cups had lipstick on them… it was way too expense for what it was.

Left me physical ill. Not that I got food poisoning — that’s sort of a random bad luck thing in my experience. This was more of a, «what did I just eat?» experience, whereby I left over half of the food on the plate. Didn’t matter what we ordered as a family, all plates had the same, very low quality experience. Service was meh. Décor was great, if you are into the 1950’s classic diner, complete with appropriate music of that era. Given the choice between Bubba’s and carnival food, the latter wins out.

Best burgers and shakes in town! The service and ambiance are great. Debbie the manager is wonderful! We love coming here for lunch.

The food was awesome. (I had the veggie burger on gluten free bread and it was wonderful — yummy. My husband had a burger and it was cooked to perfection and the bacon — melted in your mouth flavor) We would So visit again. Thank-you Diners Drive in and Dives for the recommendation !

This place rules! I had the crème brûlée French toast fantastic! They even do the caramelized sugar on top. Nice thick bacon served with eggs. Awesome place!

Went here for breakfast/lunch. Food was ok, the service could have been better. The server seemed to not care. I won’t be going back here anytime soon.

Okay here’s the deal. Bubba’s has gone through some changes over the many years, changed owners, changed menu, changed cooks, changed décor. They did lose the old 50’s style booths sadly, except for the big one by the front window. Bubba’s once lost my patronage due to poor quality service, inconsistent food, and strange staff attitudes. But this is the new Bubba’s Diner, not the old one. Its really is all new. New manager, new cooks, new dishes, the classics are still mostly there. It definitely is still a quality 50’s diner experience. After many years of hits and misses, Bubba’s is again delivering quality diner dining! Debbie, the manager, is really on the ball coming up with new specials dishes and desserts, and really listens to customer suggestions. I would say Debbie is the new heart of Bubba’s, and she really takes care of the customers. The breakfast and lunch menu is great. And you can order anything any time of day. If anything is not exactly prepared they way you particularly want it, they happily accommodate you and make it right. The Crème Brulee French toast is amazing. The Ahi pot stickers were quite delicious. They cook their breakfast eggs in real butter. The staff is very attentive, but not in your face. Their Turkey Burger is the best in Marin. Their garlic fries are intensely good. They recently got a soft serve ice cream machine in serving organic ice cream. When they have it on the specials board, their Pork Chops breakfast is outstanding. The meatloaf is first class. I like their burgers better than Phyllis or The Counter. Haven’t tried the milkshakes, but they have all the flavors.

Two stars is generous. The food is okay, but really the worst part is that the food is inconsistent. Although it ranges from okay to not bad… I have never had great, delicious or very good. Frequently they are out of menu items, their potstickers, supposedly their signature dish — under cooked, or not available, trust me that not available was a good thing! The worst however is their customer service. First and foremost if you show up at 8:00 p.m. they will remind you a dozen times that they close at 9:00 p.m., if you arrive at 8:30 p.m. you will likely not get served. We have talked them into making something to go at 8:30 p.m., but that took some arm-twisting. When they say they close at 9:00 p.m. they mean they are out the door and gone. Be sure to get the heck out of their way…

Potstickers appetizer was undercooked. Good milkshakes, although the maple flavor was not really apparent in the maple shake. Most of the menu was sandwiches, maybe not the best option for dinners. They were good but the bread was a little dry/stale for me. I suspect breakfast might be their better efforts. Good service.

Occasionally I like to watch Diners Drive Inns and Dives and despite the sometimes annoying host, I always add to my Unilocal bookmarks after watching the show. Bubba’s Diner is one of those places that I bookmarked based on Guy Fieri’s experience. Everything was ok, but not over the top as Guy had exclaimed on his show. Although I don’t think I’ve ever seen him dislike anything either. The crème brûlée French toast was ok and the corned beef hash was a bit on the salty side. I appreciate that it was super easy to get a seat for four on a Saturday morning, which is unheard of in SF.

Great food. Great service. Great eye candy ;P I’ve been here a few times now(under old and new owners) and one of the things I ALWAYS order is the CREMEBRULEFRENCHTOAST! This is perhaps the best french toast in the whole gosh darn world. It’s crispy and lightly sweet on the outside, and creamy and amazing on the inside, just like crème brule! It comes with a dollop of butter that just melts down across both slices and a side of warm maple syrup! It’s too bad that it doesn’t come with a side anymore. But I still order it. However, the other item I usually order are the SLIDERS. And whats new about is that it comes with a side! You get fruit or fries and I’ve tried them with all! The OREOMILKSHAKE is pretty freakin’ awesome. Can’t go wrong there. I think its cute they have Milkshake happy hour from like 3−5pm I think. I’ve had both their CALIFORNIA and FLORENTINEBENEDICT. It’s pretty good! Nothing to complain about there! The last time I was there though I had the CORNEDBEEFHASH breakfast. The eggs, potatoes, and biscuits were decent, but I felt the hash was over cooked and dry. Darn. I would have liked the biscuits to be warm but its still edible. Too bad this place is so far from where I live(Oakland). I’d prolly come here all the time. It’s such a great treat for me to come here. I LOVEBUBBA’S DINER! WOOT!

I’ve been wanting to try Bubba’s for a decade, but there’s always been a compelling reason we didn’t(I was too hungover to wait 30 minutes for breakfast, I didn’t feel like riding all the way to San Anselmo, my wife was craving Half Day Café’s huevos rancheros, etc.). But now we have a very compelling reason to try it; Bubba’s is sponsoring my son’s Little League team, so we went there for dinner after practice. I feel badly for the other reviewers who have loved this place for years, and don’t like the changes. I can relate, but thankfully I’m a first-time caller so I can’t miss the Bubba’s of years past. I did notice the booths are gone, which I think is too bad(although I understand the reason, with thin margins in the restaurant business). We went on a Thursday night, and the place was full but not packed. I got the corned beef hash(since it was St. Patrick’s Day). It was great; not the best I’ve had, but better than most. The boys had sliders with what were probably the best diner fries I’ve ever had; clearly they were hand-made. My wife had a salad, which was really good(spinach and salmon I think). Service was fine; our waitress is new and admitted it, but she did a good job. The manager was also roaming the place, making sure we had enough water, liked the food, etc. We didn’t have to wait long for service or the food. I’d go back; although it might not be as great as it once was, I think they’re working out the new owner kinks. It’s an institution, so we’ll be patient.
