I had a fond memory of eating something like what they serve at Sarku, but at the old ghetto Springfield Mall and Potomac Mills Mall. So when I saw this as I was passing by, I had to try it. I always get the chicken teriyaki combo with fried rice and I think it’s mediocre here. The chicken was so oily that I lost my appetite. I have a pretty big appetite for a little girl so. yeah. The location is pretty nice and clean, but other than that I think I’ll stick to eating at the mall.

Two stars for the food, four stars for environment and service, so average 3. Only the sushi was good. Other than that, the food resembled Japanese food, but didn’t come close. The noodles were Chinese egg noodles, and the sauces were not teriyaki. The tempura sauce certainly was not tempura sauce as it was really thick. The tempura batter was heavy and yellow. Salad had sesame dressing which was good. The tofu and vegetables were bland except for the thick«teriyaki» sauce. I would go back only for the sushi.

I am accustomed to the«double» meat that Sarku is known for inside of malls. This place does the Sarku brand injustice; the food is greasy and portions are small. The service is below par for a QSR. For some reason, the stand-alone Sarku establishments have always been disappointing compared to the locations inside of the malls. I am very doubtful on any future visits to this Sarku location.

I got the beef and rice, it wasn’t as flavorful as I hoped it would be and I had to wait about ten minutes before I received my food.

This is hands down the best sushi I’ve ever had! I made a mistake on my order and the cashier handled it with ease. Beautiful restaurant, very clean, and very friendly staff! They’ve got Amazing coupons and they’re on top of everything. Great job!

I’ve eaten here twice and each time it’s been delicious! The portion size is amazing!!! I always get the extra chicken with my meal and regret it afterwards since I cannot take it home … Too full but delicious!!! I suggest getting he bento box; too … A great deal!

No, it is not gastro sushi. Yes, it is fast-food sushi, concepts theoretically incompatible. Actually, my own sense of taste is incompatible with fast-food and chain restaurants altogether. But some times your logic tells you one thing and your taste buds another. So far I like everything I have tried in there enough to go back every now and then. I particularly like their black dragon and the red bull rolls. Their veggie spring rolls are amazingly good: light, fluffy, «clean.» My 21-month old loves them. Their chicken teriyaki is edible(I agree with previous viewers who find it somewhat greasy –but if you can ask them for a sample and decide for yourself). The service is efficient. The ambiance gets thumbs down… soda machine, CNN on the top corner TV, customers awkwardly standing/pacing while waiting for their orders, and a less that appetizing smell lingering around the restroom area(which fortunately is tucked in toward the back) do not quite entice anybody to eat-in. So, take-out!

The bento boxes are fast and tasty. This is a fast-food Japanese restaurant and their sushi rolls are pretty decent. The service is fast and the food is fresh. My husband usually get slabs of the fresh tuna and several different rolls. I go here whenever I’m in a hurry and want a variety of food for dinner(sushi, chicken teriyaki, salad, seaweed salad, boiled rice…). When we’re feeling naughty we get the deluxe bento with the tempura shrimp and veggies. Fried CARROTS??? What??? There’s plenty of seats available whenever I come in and they keep it clean in the store. They’re doing a great job at this location and I’m almost to my one free entrée with the frequent buyer card! For what it is this is a nice restaurant. Don’t expect a fine dining experience, this is a fast-food place.

This used to be my go to sushi place in the area, until I found a hair in my sushi. The sushi is not good quality, because it is sort of stringy. Compared to the other sushi places in the area, it is the same price as the fancy sit down restaurants, but the quality is terrible. Save your money and go somewhere else. Also, I’ve never heard of having to pay extra for brown rice.

This is an ok place. Its a chain, its mediocre, their sushi rolls are the best part of the food. I don’t care for the sauces that come on the teriyaki’s. I used to get the deluxe bento box, but was happier with just sushi rolls. Its cheap, its quick, but I only go there if I have to. Its worn out its welcome in the area.

I have had fast food sushi and this is bad even for that. I mean the salad must have been sitting in the fridge for a couple days. The dressing was like gelatin it was so thick. The sushi was suspect at best and thrown together. The only good part was the miso which was probably instant…

This place is my childhood memory! There used to be one in the springfield mall when I was growing up and I remember going to this place whenever I go to that mall with my friends. It was like 13yrs ago so I was happy to see them opening one near my area. I went there couple of times already since they opened, and all I get is the teriyaki. Not anything else period– I tried sushi and other appetizers but it didnt worth it. I stopped by here today because I had to grab something from the next door and it was very disappointing. It tasted funny. The sauce was very sour compare to other days. I dont want to complain further because this place is like mcdonald’s price. Ofcourse It could be better on different days, but I dont think this place deserves more than 3 stars overall.

This was my first visit to this restaurant I have to say when I first went and I was not very excited and kind of worried of the type of food that I would receive The lady behind the counter was very helpful explaining to me what was in it and what I got for each dinner Even though I don’t really like places where you have to get your own drink and get served by a buzzer this place was really good I enjoyed it the food tasted great and you got a lot of food for the money

I stopped by this place since it’s next door to the spa am patronizing and I am still in the restaurant at the moment. This is the worst sushi I have ever had in my life. My roll wasn’t even wrapped correctly. It looks like they made a roll, cut it into four pieces, then added two sloppily made pieces to make six. I will never ever eat at this place again.

I know this is a fast food chain… Maybe I’m spoiled with bento boxes from Sushi Prince($ 11), but the deluxe bento boxes($ 10) here were definitely… MEH… We both ordered the teriyaki beef and were surprised at the thin slices of bland meat. I did notice that most people ordered chicken teriyaki so maybe that selection was better. I opted for the deluxe box which was an additional $ 2, and I got shrimp and veggie tempura. I honestly can’t say that I have tasted anything worse than this tempura. The batter seemed soggy and old. I didn’t think anyone could really ruin tempura, how hard is it to ‘fry’? The rest of the meal(sushi, salad) was good. There’s a selection of soy sauces and sarachi. T he place is clean and the staff is friendly. If you have only 10 minutes to eat, and want to stuff your face fast, then this place might do. I’ll probably stick to the lunch specials at another local venue.

Its a good place to have lunch sometime or take out food. I’ve only tired their deluxe bento so far but it wasn’t that bad. Its healthier than fast food:)

I know that Sarku is a chain, but I do enjoy going to their Teriyaki and Sushi Express locations. I always get the Deluxe Bento, which comes with a garden salad with dressing, 4 pieces of California Roll, Chicken Teriyaki with white rice, and two tempura shrimp and tempura vegetables(like sweet potatoes and broccoli). I always ask the chicken to be cooked extra well-done, and sometimes they get it, and sometimes not so much. Either way, the teriyaki is pretty good with the rice, and you can also add some sriracha sauce to give a kick. Usually, the tempura is right out of the fryer so it’s fresh, and the California rolls, if they’re busy, are freshly hand-made, too; sometimes, it can be a little stale and the tempura can be kind of cold. My husband always gets the Chicken Teriyaki with the double meat, and he even enjoys his meal. You can find Sarku in malls, but I like getting the bento boxes. This Fairfax location also has yum-yum sauce, so it usually comes with 1 container of it when you order(they charge you more if you ask for more). Simple and a straightforward meal if you’re craving for some teriyaki! +chicken teriyaki — extra well-done +request tempura to be fresh out-of-the-fryer +offers yum-yum and spicy mayo sauces! +call-in orders accepted

I’m not sure how to rate sarku other then it was medicore for Japanese Togo food. Have I had better bento boxes for the same price yes indeed. My mother and I shared a deluxe bento box with chicken teriyaki. Now I like to avoid chicken teriyaki partially because some places make it too sweet and in this case it was just that a tadbit too much sauce for me. The chicken pieces were a bit sloppily chopped but eh… it’s chicken. The choices for side were white rice, noodles or brown rice. I chose the brown rice with it for an extra .50 wow it cost to be healthy. I think I was expecting too much from a Togo place for a bento. I mean there could’ve been a bit more salad and a side of Miso soup would’ve been nice for $ 9.19 or even a dumpling. It came with 2 soggy shrimp tempura, and a few veggie tempura which were not as crispy as I would like. The California rolls weren’t too bad there was a decent amount of imitation crab in the roll. But overall kind of a mediocre bento. I also ordered the green dragon roll which was eel avocado and cucumbers. It tasted okay nothing that really blew me out of the water and especially not for 7.99. Overall it’s mediocre food that taste like food court mall food. That satisfies a slight craving for Japanese food. Perhaps if I need a quick Togo sushi I guess this would be my place. Or I want japenese food without paying tip this would be my place.
