A little frustrated with this place. I called to make a reservation for 10 people. The woman on the phone told me she can’t make a reservation for 10 all at once. The max they will take at one time is 6. She said they can seat half of our family at 7:00 then the other half at 7:30. Not because they don’t have the room but because it’s too big of an order to prepare for one group. I’m confused. Isn’t that a good thing? To have a big party ordering a lot of food. We have a big family so it looks like we will never be able to eat here since I’m not going to have my kids wait outside for 30 minutes to be seated. I do hear they have good sushi though. So maybe one day when they decide it’s time to start actually making money and not turning away customers we will be able to try it. Oh well… until then.

Finally got to try this place after hearing good things about it for so long… in a nutshell, I was disappointed. This place does not offer authentic sushi. It’s more of a bit refined mall sushi spot. My friends and I had the Beef Negi Maki appetizer, king sushi platter, sashimi platter, and sushi & sashimi platter. The fish seemed pretty fresh… but…the cuts of sashimi were way way too big. You might say, why is that a bad thing? But the pieces were too thick and large. Traditionally, you should be able to eat a piece of sashimi in one bite easily. Here, that was not the case. For true, authentic, better tasting sushi, try one of the many places in DC.

Not very many words are necessary to explain. We go here several times a year. It’s always good. You could read the next guy’s post with the inspiring detail, his traveled context, and nuanced layers of discerning taste, or you could just go there and see for yourself. Or don’t go. That’s fine. More sushi for me.

I’ll say that in my opinion this is a Top 5 sushi spot if not TOP3 in the DMV. It has all the traits a true sushi restaurant should have: authenticity, freshness of rolls, great customer service, and cleanliness! The hostesses and waitresses definitely give the best service and ALWAYS(not kidding) does it with a smile! I’ve had a few different rolls and you cant go wrong with any of them unless you just dont like certain things. but they make it taste sooooo good. Make sure on the weekend that you place reservations so you’ll avoid a wait. As you leave they always say«thank yoooooooou» with the most sincere and friendly tone. This is the true meaning of a «Hidden gem»

My boyfriend and I came here on our 3rd year anniversary and decided on this restaurant based on the positive Unilocal reviews. Please see below for the pros of this establishment: — intimate ambience(this is a tiny restaurant though, I would be sure to make reservations ahead of time based on the limited seating). — fresh seafood(no imitation crab meat here– the dynamite roll was delicious and my favorite roll I ordered. The crab was hot and fresh and combined well with the chilled sushi roll). — attentive service(the server was quick and didn’t leave us waiting). — We also ordered the rainbow roll, 007 roll and spider roll which were all good. No misses. — I would recommend this restaurant to others for sure — it’s a bit pricy but you do get fresh quality sushi and good service.

I love their lunch chirashi bowl for $ 17(available on weekends too). The way they season their rice and all the toppings they add to the rice makes it so tasty, i literally could not stop eating the rice. The sashimi is also very fresh. This is definitely my fav chirashi bowl i’ve had in the NOVA area.

So right up front, I don’t give 5 stars to just anyone or anything. Secondly, I certainly don’t give 5 stars to many«Japanese» restaurants in the States, anywhere. Thirdly, Yes, I just gave Sushi Prince 5 stars. As usual, you can get the food, menu, drinks, hours, etc. lowdown from everyone else. Pay attention to the photos too. I just simply have to say that in my continued hound-dog search for good Japanese food in the DC Metro area, I’ve only come across one other place that gets my attention the way this place does. And part of me is sad about that; because that other place really has my heart, for lots of reasons. But dang it, Sushi Prince is just dad blame… good. No, great. No… dad blame, they made me feel like I was back in Asakusa. Yes, this place is small. You say you want the«real» Japanese dining experience? Than small place is what you get. And you should be smart enough to know that that is a very good thing. But… whiners gonna whine. If you were in Shinjuku, you’d get half the space this place bathes you in, and you’d be in there literally elbowing your compats every time you breathed, much less brought nigiri to your lips. Be happy you have a table. Better yet, dump your dang mobile phone at the door and really get Izakaya — talk to the people at the next table. Yes, we did the reservation thing. Easy as pie. How others think otherwise is beyond me. Oh yeah, I remember now — you had to pick up a phone and talk to a stranger on the other end of it. Sooo paasseee… Really? Good. Gives minions like me more of a chance to take your table from you. Yes, I’m seriously high 5-ing the food. Yes, we’ve only been once. And Yes, that could be a dangerous statement, to base 5 stars on one experience. But something tells me when I look at the dude behind that dudarama counter doing his major dudeness, and the dudette who takes my order makes me feel like I’m back in my beloved Japan, and that food arrives looking like it does and moreover, tasting like it does… Waves of happy wash over me. «All» we got was the Queen Sushi Platter, but that thing almost made me take out my dreaded cell phone to take a photo. But I refused due to an insolent stomach bent instead on devouring everything in front of my eyes. Stuffed as we were afterwards, I still wanted to place a serious saki order and another round of something hand-picked this time. Oh well, there’s tomorrow, and tomorrow won’t come soon enough. And importantly for me, Yes, the new wifey was very happy during and afterwards as well. And when her Chinese tongue is satisfied(a tongue usually saying things like«that was so bland»)…well, I remember the where & when. It’s something this hound dog is finding rare out on the sushi hunting trail. Because of this place, I now consider myself spoiled. This is not good for my wallet. So far I’ve been able to forego becoming a fixture here. But I doubt that I’ll be able to hold out much longer. I wonder if they give a discount based on pounds consumed?

One thing I can say is… As much as I LOVE sushi and I’m very picky about sushi places and the quality of their sushi, this is the second sushi place I’ve been to and I can’t say anything negative about this place! We didn’t make reservations(highly recommended because this place is tiny) but we got seated right away. Our server Hailey greeted us right away and asked us if we wanted anything to drink. We both got water and my husband got hot tea. After looking at the menu, we were ready to order. We got the following: calamari tempura(appetizer), rainbow roll, carbonara roll, philly roll, and shrimp tempura roll. Once we got our rolls, the presentation of the rolls were very clean. The fish/rice ratio was quite even. They put a small amount of rice which didn’t over power the roll and the fish was fresh. Once we got the carbonara roll, the other server asked us if we’ve tried this roll before and told us that the pesto was in the middle and you put it on top of your roll. This roll was very unique and had a different taste to it because of the pesto, but it was pretty good. The service here is beyond great! I’ve never had such precise and great service at an asian/sushi restaurant. They are very quick with refilling your drinks, didn’t hunt them down one time just to ask for a refill and they were very kind and friendly. Overall, this place is awesome and I would come here again for the sushi and service.

Reservation is highly recommended as this place is so tiny and popular. Chirash Bowl is my favorite!!! The miso soup was very disappointing though, with no seaweed or taste. The snapper and shrimp were hard to bite. With those two issues, I still would like to rate 5 stars for this place and would definitely go back again.

I’ve been to Sushi Prince twice now and it has yet to disappoint! I love crazy specialty rolls and this place fits the bill for those. Each specialty roll I’ve tried here has been crazy delicious and the presentation is phenomenal! This visit I tried the Crown Royal, Dragon, and Las Vegas rolls. They were all beautiful and tasty but most of all filling! One drawback is the size of the restaurant. Probably 15 – 20 people can dine at a time and reservations for dinner are a must, even on rainy Monday nights like tonight.

Hands down the best affordable sushi in the DMV area. Their sashimi and sushi rolls are fresh and they don’t skimp on the meat. The sashimi pieces are huge and the rolls are covered with lots of fish and seafood and less rice. I’ve dine here on four occasions and I’m pleased every time. I have high expectations for sushi and this place meets my requirements.

Came here for a dinner date with a friend and was pleasantly surprised. Right when we entered the servers greeted us in Japanese — this was when I knew the food quality was not going to disappoint! Our favorite was definitely the Super Volcano Roll. It’s the perfect blend of sweet and salty with a kick of spice from the jalapeños. Unique flavor! The Sweet Shrimp and Tuna Nigiri rolls were also fresh and delicious. As for the Crown Royal Roll, we wouldn’t reorder this because the flavors just didn’t work together and left us thinking«What IS that?!» Everything else was really tasty though. Overall, the servers are very attentive and friendly and the food has lovely presentation and flavor. It can get packed here quickly so remember to make reservations if you’re going on the weekend!

Went there a couple days ago for lunch, and ordered the Sushi & Noodle Special($ 15, I believe the prices on their online menu are a little out of date). It comes with«Udon or Miso Ramen w/4 pcs Sushi &1 Classic Roll(Tuna, Salmon, Cali, or Spicy Tuna Roll)» I chose oden for my soup, and tuna for my makizushi. The 4 pieces of sushi were shrimp, sea bream(I think), tuna, and saba. The oden was alright, 3⁄5. There was nothing wrong with it, but didn’t wow me either. It would have been nice if they’d thrown in an extra piece of tempura in there. The sushi was overall disappointing. The rice on all of it tasted like it’d been sitting out for at least an hour or two, but it was far from inedible. 3 of the 4 pieces of sushi were just very bland and mediocre. I’ve had similar from grocery store sushi, to put it in perspective. The only one that really blew me away was the last one. It was bursting with flavor and buttery texture, and I was absolutely wowed by it in comparison to the other cuts. I should add that the visual presentation and arrangement of both my meal and my friend’s bento was absolutely gorgeous. I think that really shows through in all the photos people have posted. Misc. bits. My friend and I decided to sit at the sushi bar, which was a mistake on our parts. It was very tight, with very little elbow room. I would recommend to most people to go ahead and choose a normal table if it’s available. Also recommend making a reservation just in case, because as others have mentioned, it’s not a very large restaurant. I found it entertaining to have«irashaimase» in a Korean accent, but that certainly wasn’t a detractor. Just amusing. Would I come here again? Eh, maybe if someone was covering me. After tip, I spent $ 19 and I can’t say I felt what I had was worth that amount.

My bf loves this place and would not stop talking about it, so we came here for his birthday dinner. He was in love with his sashimi plate… he loved the quality(buttery) of the fish, although he has some complaints about how the chef cut the fish — some of his sashimi pieces were broken. Doesn’t change how amazing they taste, he said. I’m allergic to seafood and definitely don’t like raw fish, but I still tried their king of dragon roll, and ramen. Ramen was less than mediocre, which was expected since they’re known for their sushi. The king of dragon, wow, is so good that I still drool from thinking about it! It has shrimp tempura wrapped inside and eel on top. Humongous portion. I was full just from eating this! I have to note, though, I got pretty bad reaction afterwards, which usually means the shrimps were not as fresh as they should be.(I’m allergic to the iodine build-up in seafood that sits for too long). Won’t stop me from going back and eat more king of dragon rolls, though!

I needed a place to take my friend for a birthday lunch and finally decided on here. I have wanted to go to sushi prince for a long time so I was happy she was all in. We arrived a little after 1pm on a Thursday. The parking lot was crowded because the lot is shared with many other businesses. However, we both managed to find parking close to the restaurant. The restaurant was busy when we entered but we were able to get two seats. I would recommend making reservations in the future or to anyone who wants to come here. The place is small and could cause a wait if crowded. The place is very intimate and you may overhear others conversations. Upon being shown to our seats my friend and I both noticed that another table had this beautiful bento box. We asked our server about it and explained it was the lunch chicken bento box special. I ordered the sashimi bento box special and she ordered the sushi bento box. The service was friendly and quick. With the bento boxes, you indeed get a lot of food for a great price. My meal included miso soup, ginger salad, 6 pieces of sashimi, white rice, tofu(2 pieces), 3 pieces of California roll, tempura(deep fried veggies and one piece of shrimp), seaweed salad, and Tamagoyaki(fried egg). Everything was delicious and fresh. I would highly recommend this meal for its price, quality and taste.

Sushi Prince is a great option to get fun and yummy sushi. They do take pride in their presentation here, which I appreciate. Fun, stylish, and tasty food to be had. SX was just not a fan of their ramen, but the sushi items are definitely fit for a prince. The dinner chirashi was yummy and had good variety of fish. Rolls are cut nice and evenly. Service is always smiling and friendly. They do have one of the best Japanese lunch specials in the area. For the price and the amount of quality food, it really can’t be beat. I went about 30min prior to closing to grab lunch, but they persuaded all other walk-ins to do take-out. To my dismay, I did, but it was not a bad thing. They made sure everything is packaged well. It is a small restaurant, so would recommend reservations.

I repeat what one of the Unilocalers said: Get the Crown Royal roll and make a reservation. I glimpsed at that recommendation, but didn’t bother as it was 1:30 on a Monday. Alas, the restaurant is apparently a local favorite and I waited 20 minutes for a table. The Crown Royal roll was beautiful and creative. It immediately gets you salivating with Old Bay dust on the plate. Then two beautiful soft-shelled crabs sprout out of spicy salmon and tuna rolls. If I ever wanted to make a sushi fountain, I would make it this. I wanted a tad more kick in the rolls, but the aioli paired very nicely with the fry. I also tried the white tuna, which was plump and fresh. I have a preference for my white tuna to be charred, which was unfortunately lacking in this dish. But regardless, I had such a pleasant lunch here. The staff is really welcoming and friendly. I was seated at 1:50-ish and they didn’t seem to be tired at all, despite the time.

Word on the street of the current sushi hot spots in NoVa are currently Sushi Prince and Sushi Yoshi. I decided to try sushi prince first, and I’m so glad that I did. Like everyone said in the tips, it’s a good idea to make a reservation, as the restaurant is on the smaller side. I saw them turn away groups of 5 or more because there was no reservation made or room for them inside. Service was awesome and the food was super fresh and awesome as well. My friend and I got three rolls which we shared. They all had a great portion of raw fish with minimal and were so extremely flavorful! (We got the super volcano, crunchy infinity, and prince house rolls) Can’t even pick out a favorite because I loved them all so much…

BESTSUSHI I HAVEEVERHAD! Seriously. I know I say this each time I go to a new sushi place, but I have never had sushi as fresh and delicious as what I ordered at Sushi Prince. I will drive a long way just for good food, and I drove an hour round-trip just to get sushi at Sushi Prince with my fiancé. My fiancé was impressed too, but he’s not as big a sushi fanatic as I am. As usual, I ordered the chirashi bowl and it came with the most fresh sashimi I have ever tasted in my life. It just melted right in my mouth. And there was such a large portion of it as well! My entrée was just $ 16(lunch price) and also came with a delicious miso soup and ginger salad on the side. So perfect! I was in sushi heaven eating that meal! My fiancé ordered a bento box — with sushi rolls, tempura, salad, and rice. He also really enjoyed his meal. Service was excellent and parking is plentiful in the little shopping center where the restaurant is located. My one qualm was the mochi ice cream — I’m generally used to my mochi ice cream as creamy and chewy — this mochi ice cream seemed to consist of ice cream wrapped by a weird shell casing… it was very strange. But other than that, everything else was PERFECT. Note — I would recommend getting a reservation, as this place gets packed and is tiny compared to other restaurants. We visited at 1:30pm on a Saturday and still needed reservations at that time, despite the late lunch hour. WEWILLCERTAINLYBEBACK! So AMAZING!
