Update to my previous review: Shorty’s is now Closed :(I went here for lunch, pulled up and saw a «For Lease» sign on the door. No letter or sign saying where they went.

Went over there yesterday and found a sign on the window that they were closed for business as of April 30th. Sadly, Shorty’s is no more :(

This place is not fancy, but it is very good. I get breakfast here a lot and I’ve never been disappointed, but their sandwiches are great, too.

Shorty’s Deli is one of the best family owned delis’ around. The Chicken on Pita is a must and the fries are terrific. If you’re looking for a good lunch spot, come join shorty’s, you wont be disappointed.

A sign advertising a «Latin Breakfast» served at 4 pm for a cheap $ 6.50 drew me in. This included eggs, beans, plantains, tortillias, and something else I forgot. They threw cheese and veggies in my scrambled eggs at no extra cost. The food was great, the lone cashier/cook was friendly, the place was much clenaer than I expected. I have walked by here many times over the ten years and realize now I was missing out on some really great latin food. They also sell tasty pupusas. I don’t know how their deli food is but I’ll be going back. If they keep up this quality and value they are on track for earning a 5.

I went Shorty’s yesterday and ordered the Hot Garden sandwich and a couple of pupusas. I had to wait a little bit for them to make the sandwich. But is was worth the wait, very good. The veggies had a great taste to them and the bread is great! The pupusas were also very tasty.

Shorty’s is a great place for breakfast and lunch. Their sandwiches are awesome. I like the Fairfax and the BBQ the best. Prices are very reasonable

Amazing breakfast, served all day, or until the grill closes around 5, they are friendly and professional, the only bad part is that the grill closes and then you can only get cold sandwiches.

Had the chicken parmigiana sandwich combo. It was pretty good. The cole slaw was not great. Also, it was a little pricey.

I give this place 3.5, but since I am feeling generous today… I round up. I ordered one of their specials: BLT with avocado, fries, and cole slaw. The BLT comes out on what seems like two pieces of buttered and toasted texas toast, which was extremely greasy. This is not bad thing, but a good thing since it was still crisp and had a delicate cruch to them still. It focuses more on the bacon and the lettuce and tomato are merely backup singers. This is probably the best BLT that I have ever eaten. The avocado is a nice creamy touch. The fries are thin and shoestring-style. They are crispy and not soggy. The coleslaw is crunch and sweet. All in all, the meal cost me a little more than $ 8, tax included. If you are in this area, then this is your best bet. My friend ordered a pupusa, which she enjoyed. She also had chili, which was the meaty kind, no beans. It had the right amount of heartiness to it without being too spicy. Places like this remind me why I hate chain restaurants and root for one-of-kind restaurants like this. They put the focus where it should be simple, honest, and good food.

Not bad. Unprepossessing décor, but an extensive menu. As we were looking for a quick place to grab a bite with dog in tow, shorty’s did the trick. Lovey had the Italian sub with fries — I had the pork, veggie and rice wrap. Both tasty and we got out of there with those, plus chips and drinks for leas than $ 20. AND the dog was happy hanging with us at a table outside.

Yum. I heart sandwiches. Shorty’s does them the meaty, cheesy, drool inducing justice they deserve. Crazy delicious food at crazy low prices. Score. The meal-sandwich, chips, and a drink was $ 6(ish). Yeah, that does not happen in Fairfax. I ordered a French dip, which is one of my sandwich usuals. It was fantastic; not skimping on meat, cheese, jus(love me some jus), or flavor. It came with chips, which were the standard from a bag fare but I didn’t care. The inside is a bit sketch, but not too shabby. I’d recommend, if possible, to sit outside where they have tables and chairs set up. Das right, great food and a scenic atmosphere to boot.

I’m not sure if they changed ownership or what but the food was not good at all during my last visit. I was very disappointed considering my previous visits two years earlier, the food seemed much better.

Is there –anything– that Shorty’s doesn’t do right? Now that I’ve been back a few times, I feel like it’s high time to update my review. Particularly given that I’ve never ever been disappointed by a deli lunch here. It all starts with a warm greeting from the fellow manning the counter in the very back of the restaurant as you walk in, but concludes with a solidly tasty, filling meal. Let’s review: — Reasonable prices for the quality/quantity of food, with most sandwich platter plates running roughly $ 7 — Ridiculously fast turnaround on orders, never seeming to take more than five minutes a pop — Kick-ass sandwiches, beginning with their awesome reuben, but I’ve since expanded that to their tuna melt with cheddar — Perfectly crispy seasoned shoestring fries that come with your platter — Just-right crispy, crunchy coleslaw that has a light mayo dressing — not goopy at all So, more about the tuna sandwich special I had today. Tuna salad is by nature a little bit soggy. How do you keep this from soggifying the bread it’s served on? Well, apparently the answer is to butter and toast said bread. This leaves the insides cool and creamy, the outsides crispy and hot, and the whole combination so good that you can’t help but wolf down half the sandwich in just five bites. Like Stef, I wouldn’t say I’d go out of my way to haul over here, but for a great post-Salon Mint bite, it’s absolutely perfect. Thanks for being reliably delicious, Shorty’s!

Heres an excellent math equation for you. Whats one high school teacher w/no planning periods + the end of the quarter equal? A VERY stressed out person! So its a perfectly logical thing that I would forget to bring a lunch to work. Therefore when one of my coworkers offered to go pick me up lunch, I jumped on it. I got«the Fairfax», which was basically thanksgiving on a loaf of bread. Thats right, a loaf of bread. They give you your sandwich on this little loaf of homemade bread which was soft and flakey just like my grandma used to make! It actually was so much bread that i could only eat half. But it was really tasty. They have a lot of unique things on their menu(my coworker got a chicken pita with this awesome yogurt sauce) and everything was reasonably priced. Definitely worth checking out next time i’m stressed out(which i’m sure will be soon enough!)
