I have only tried the steak and cheese sandwich here a few times, it’s decent, convenient for GMU students. The staff is friendly. they have a large menu and I’ve read through it but never felt the need to order anything else on their menu.

I am not Korean so I am not sure what goes in what dish. So I ordered off the picture. On the picture for bimibop(I think that’s the name) it didn’t have any sauces on the meat or the egg. However, when I received the dish it had red sauce on it. I don’t do spicy. So I took a bite, didn’t know the red sauce is spicy, took it back to the lady and ask why is there spicy sauce on it when the picture didn’t show it. She tried to say that’s how the dish is… but that’s not what the picture shows. Either way, after back and forth, she finally made me a new one, but she only included 1⁄3 amount of the meat and the rice tasted like it was the burnt rice on the bottom of the rice cooker. I can see why the have such low rating… sell what is showing in the picture you put up in the store. Not everyone is Korean and know what’s in the dish.

This was disgusting. Being that it is a Korean deli I decided to try the bulgogi sub. I ate there and when I picked up the sub, right after it was made, some gross, thin, pale colored sauce poured out from it, I don’t know what it was. The sandwich was also so very sweet with absolutely no spice, it was like I was eating meat for dessert. I spent $ 10 on the sub and a fountain soda and felt very ripped off, I will never return here again. Things also looked dirty in there. Everything around the soda fountain was sticky and one of the cold cases didn’t seem to be working but it still had stuff in it. Bottom line, if you want overpriced, sweet, poor quality meat on some day old rolls and want to feel like you ought to call the health department while having the employees stare at you while you eat then you ought to come to this place.

I had the Virginian sandwich. It wasn’t bad. Good portions of meat. The bread tasted fresh enough. LT and mustard were fine. I would go back.

I miss Ellie’s deli!!! Barely any lettuce or tomato on my sandwich. I will only go there if I have no other option.

It’s ok. I liked it better when it was Elie’s. I haven’t been in there in awhile but I feel like it’s kind of dirty. The Korean people are pretty nice though; hard to understand on the phone.

Best Deli– what a misnomer. I wanted to try somewhere besides Bernie’s and ventured into this place in University Mall. Downright disappointing from the first bite. The Turkey Melt Special came with one piece of turkey and sprouts, which were not advertised on the special board. It was all bread. My lunch date’s Garlic Chicken Pita was flavorless and the pita was burnt. First and last time here.

This is my first review and I had to review this place because it was just that… bad. Way overpriced for the skimpy 2 slices of meat I got in my Cuban sandwich which wasn’t even good. Do not recommend.

Sub had very little meat and was flavorless, the tomatoes and pickles tasted weird. I threw it in the trash after trying it. This«deli» is outdated and very dirty. Everything from the soda machine to the tables were disgusting and they don’t wear gloves when preparing your food. Also way overpriced and they will try to overcharge you if you’re not paying attention. Avoid this place, there are better options in the area.

I ordered the«homemade gyro». Small, flavorless, skimpy meat and vegetable portion, so-so«bread». Save your money and time by going elsewhere.

I hate to be mean but who told them it was okay to lie to the people and name their business«The Best Deli». My cheesesteak wasn’t that bad but it needed something to it, maybe some flavor. For $ 7 it was a small sub and she gave me a disgustingly huge amount of mayo so I had to scrape it all out. It grossed me out and kind of ruined my appetite. My dad ordered the Sicilian which had salami, ham and some other stuff and he said it wasn’t good. They skimp on the meat and it wasn’t worth the money. The water was disgusting, it had a weird yellow coloring, which is probably what made the ice taste so bad when I had lemonade. Just an overall bad experience.

Very, very meh. It’s better than Subway, but that’s a pretty low bar for comparison. Their name clearly isn’t truth in advertising.

I would not even consider this place a real deli. Its perfect if you’re looking to spend very little money and you’re content with eating microwaved, mushy food. The fries were pretty bad and the atmosphere is kind of gross. I’ll probably never go back especially with so many better options in the area. 1.5 stars mostly because they have tv to watch and distract you from noticing the grossness around you.

The Best Deli was just a-ok in my book… The food was all right, nothing special but not gross at the same time. I had a steak & cheese, garlic bread, and baklava. This place looks like a dive and it’s dated. It sort of one of those places that you want to make sure you wash your hands or use hand sanitizer when you exit because you just don’t trust the place. I used the living social takeout option here. I’m glad I stayed and ate my food because they tried to rip me off by not giving me the baklava. Me thinks not, I immediately headed over to the register after my meal and said where is my baklava? They admitted they were keeping it for themselves, apologized, and gave me some. This place is okay but I sure as hell wouldn’t go out of my way to eat here…

Ordered two sandwiches, a side of fries, some bread, etc for delivery to GMU(which is less than 10 minutes away from the deli). Basic stuff. The ordering process(via phone) was okay. It was difficult to understand the clerk who answered the phone, and they didn’t help very much with the ordering process(providing bread options, sides, etc). Finally placed the order though and it wasn’t too painful of a process. What came next was. It should take this delivery 10 minutes at most to get onto campus. I ordered at 1:30pm. I did not receive my food until 2:45. This was not because they were exceptionally busy, but because the driver could not for the life of her find the building. Mind you, I ordered to GMU which is, yes, a bit complicated. But I gave the DIRECTADDRESS to the dorm. I’ve used this direct address for Domino’s, numerous chinese restaurants, and never have had this much of an issue. I waited outside and saw this driver pass 3 – 4 times, never once looking at the blatantly obvious road signs that state my dorm building’s name and address. I had to call back and forth with the deli to give directions, even though I gave the direct address, and listen to the clerk shout them back in a foreign language. Needless to say, when I got the food, it was all cold, stale, etc. I then called the store to request a refund. The food wasn’t even worth eating at that point. I was directed to the phone relay again. The clerk began calling back and forth to the ‘owner’(apparently a manager or owner was not on site, wtf?) to find out whether we could be refunded. They offered store credit, which we denied, because we will not be ordering from this deli again. Supposedly they have refunded the charge, but I will be double-checking my credit card statement a while later to be sure. There was no courtesy call to let us know they had refunded it, and no communication from a manager or owner on behalf of the place. I understand that GMU is a large campus, but they should not advertise delivery if they cannot deliver to a simple direct address. The place is very unprofessional and frankly, the food wasn’t that great. It has the potential to be good if you just stop in and get a hot sandwich, but definitely never order via phone or for delivery. It’s a headache and the customer service SUCKS. The staff doesn’t communicate effectively and clearly doesn’t know what to do in any situation other than the typical order-receive situation. Just… don’t order. Find a better deli. This place doesn’t care about customers.

Man, I remember when this place was still Elie’s, and I used to hit this place up all the time when I was in HS and took some classes at GMU. In spite of the name/staff change, I was pleased to see that they still had mostly the same menu from when I used to go on a regular basis. $ 8~ for a sub and small fountain drink I guess shouldn’t be a surprise from the increase from back in 1999, so I can’t really complain there. Typically, I’m skeptical about any sort of managerial change, since typically I expect reduced portions or cost-cutting measures that screw the customer, but I was pleasantly relieved to have gotten the same results from back in the day; I left content and satisfied. From the completion of my order to the delivery of my sandwich, it literally took barely over 60 seconds. Now construction of a chicken salad sub with lettuce, tomato and hot peppers isn’t that complex, but I have to give them credit, that was fast. I still didn’t even have my fountain drink filled. Granted, it was on a fairly low-populated Saturday afternoon, but I was very pleased with the quick turnaround and it’s worth noting to anyone who wants a quick turnaround. The quality of the sandwich was just like I remembered from when I was younger. The bread had some chew to it, and wasn’t all thin and papery like Subway. Contrary to some other reviewers, I had a generous portion of chicken salad, and wasn’t feeling short-changed. The location is fairly convenient, and there’s plenty of free parking. All these years, of seeing the place with a new name I was a little skeptical, but upon a re-visit, my worries are at ease. The place is still outstanding, and I’d go back again without any problem.

I mean come on… this place ain’t THAT bad. Granted, last night was my first night ever eating at this establishment. The Beau has been coming here since he was little(and obviously before it changed ownership) and still loves it. We ordered the Italian Boat and split it. Went with light mayo, lettuce and onions. The Italian dressing on the sandwich added a little bit too much tang for my taste… really complimented the pepperoni though. My only complaint is that there wasn’t a big, big amount of meat in the sandwich to warrant charging $ 6.99. I’ve been to other delis that stack their subs high… this one certainly does not. But, the bread they use is very soft and I really liked that. For the sandwich and the soda we – well, he… paid around $ 8 or 9. They have a big, big delicious looking list of many subs and sandwiches I’d love to go back and try. Stop in and give this place a chance!
