Canova Moving & Storage

If I could I would give negative stars. On the day of my move, the movers showed up late. One of the two men proceeded to fill out the paperwork. He was clueless. Evidently someone should have come out and given me an estimate… did not happen. He then says that if I want my stuff insured (against THEIR breakage) I would need to pay an additional 112.50…I was never told that on the phone.
These movers were NOT careful with my stuff… in fact they broke my entertainment center (I was told someone would call me about that… did not happen)… don’t know yet if they will honor the «insurance“or not.
Moving took SO much longer than it should have. They weren’t even sure they were going to be able to fit all my stuff on the truck (I live alone for heaven’s sake). I had marked boxes with the name of the room they should be delivered to. Guess what, they did not pay attention to that. I am in my sixties and am now forced to carry the heavy boxes all over the place to get them to the correct rooms.
I heard a lot about what they wouldn’t do… move plants, disconnect and reconnect ice maker on fridge, disconnect and reconnect washer and dryer, move loose items (even though I was told they would help with last minute packing).
The wardrobe boxes were shoved into my closet. i could not get them open. It was days before I could maneuver the boxes enough to free my clothes.
All this for the high price of over $ 1000.00 for a cross town move… IT WAS A NIGHTMARE!!! I would NEVER recommend this company!

My experience wasnt that great it took them 2 weeks to give me an estimate and the contracted person didnt call me back until 2 days before my move. I called him about 4 times and left several messages the week before. When I called Canova back telling them what happened they said that they would call me back I never got a call from them either. Which made my move more stressful because I had to find a substitute moving company.

During my move from SF bay area to Portland, OR, these guys were great. John, the owner, was my guide through everything, answering my multitude of questions quickly and accurately.
Movers were careful and helpful. Also much less expensive than the competitors in the area.
They helped the process be a little less stressful.
