Caribou Coffee

Surprised to find a chain coffee café here in little Fairfield, Iowa. My soy chai latté was a little watered down compared to the ones I’m used to at Starbucks. But maybe that’s the way they’re supposed to be made! Lol. But, compensating for this was a delicious apple cinnamon muffin and they microwaved it for me. Yum!

They have the best hot chocolate, free internet, nice chairs, a really good place to start your day!

The staff makes it special. Seems trite, but my goodness were the folks behind the counter helpful. Combine that with some of the tastiest coffee in town and it makes for a very pleasant experience.
On one of my previous visits I was at a loss for what to have and was suggested a drink by the barista. It was out of the world. Not entirely certain that it was ON the menu.

Stay away! With great organic options like Paradiso and friendly shops like Revelations, why bother with the plasticy, chemical taste of Caribou: not to mention the less than mediocre service. Their coffee, in packages, is the same price (different blends, decaf etc). So, why them would you charge me 50 cents to a dollar more for decaf, hmm? Not to mention, an iced coffee should not cost a buck fifty more simply because you put in the cream instead of me. It’s free on my side of the counter. Hiss.
Besides all this, I got different prices for the same darn blended coffee every time I went. Don’t know why I kept going, I mean the drive through is convenient but dang if it’s not annoying getting charged something new by a new person every single time. The one regular I did see there also gave me different prices for the same thing.
I hated that quickstop environment too. Never enough parking and everything was always dirty. I get it, you’re a busy shop — hire someone to clean once in a while.
Mostly — the coffee doesn’t taste good, the service isn’t great, and while a drive thru is a bonus, it sucks when the other drivers are trying to kill you getting in and out of there because because they want or just got gas, groceries, or Burger King.

Inside it is well decorated and pretty but I usually hit the drive through and love it. Very convenient and fast service. Iced, hot or whatever its all good. Around $ 4 for a medium on anything but it tastes so good. Love it.

The drive through blows the bloody doors off all the other coffee shops in town. There is never a line, and the staff is always friendly.
That being said, I wish there were more than broken links to Fair Trade and Do Good promises on their website. Is their coffee Fair Trade or not? And will they offer an organic option?

Super friendly service, and love the menu! Chicken apple sausage? Its good! Solid latte as well. The fireplace is a nice touch. Lots of tables including a large group meeting style table. Will be coming back here.

Life is short, stay awake for it.
I can’t think of a better way to start the day than a Turtle Mocha (without Snickers topping) and a Sausage, Egg and Cheese Biscuit.
All of the drinks are customizable to your tastes and they even have a drive thru.
