ATTENTION: NEWMANAGEMENT/OWNER All the negative reviews are from 2014 and before. Therefore I have to assume that it’s because of old management that this fine establishment isn’t given credit where credit is due. **I don’t typically like Chinese takeout. Actually I stopped eating it because of how disgusting most places are. Never fresh, msg etc. ** I had a completely different experience at Hunan Pavilion. I’ve ordered orange chicken twice here and both times was delicious. Even comes with fresh orange peel! Each morning I’ve been here the workers are preparing chicken and veggies FRESH. Washing, cutting, the works. Nothing is frozen. Very different than other takeout places in the area.

This wasn’t just not good, it was really really bad. Super greasy and bland. We threw it in the garbage it was so unappetizing. This was a really lousy meal. Microwave something from the supermarket, it will taste better.

This was the worst Chinese food I have ordered. Egg rolls– no flavor, general zao’s chicken — bland and bad chicken pieces. We threw most of the dinner away.

Pad Thai did not taste like we expected… and experience everywhere else. We thought it was bad, so we tossed it and called and was told…“it’s different, but you can still eat it.” Suggestion, call the dish by another name.. maybe call it «pizza». It doesn’t taste like pizza either, but what the hell right?

I got takeout but I can’t eat it. I’m sorry to report… This is not Chinese food, it’s not edible. I threw it all out, Very bad. It’s too bad because I think they’re under new ownership or management but this is in no way Chinese food, it’s just not. They have a CT bites recommendation but, that’s for February 5, 2012, that’s a long time ago. The food is not up there anymore

Hot and sour soup was good albeit a bit sweet. Dry fried crispy beef was actually beef with General tsao with beef. Ver disappointing. It was tasty but not what i ordered.

Under new management and the food is horribly bland. I used to love this place and would buy a bunch of stuff when in the area. Thank goodness I only bought hot and sour soup which was beyond bland and chicken mei fun which had almost no flavor at all. They seemed to add a ton of MSG but I will not be going back. Hate to see the other owners have left.

You get what you pay for the costs are reasonable and the food is fine for delivery. No it’s not Chinatown but it is certainly better than it was. Tell them No MSG or sugar and they do better than usual. At $ 6 for a lunch special with soup or egg roll or soda you can’t go wrong. Tell them what you like an don’t like, they seem to actually read the requests. more expensive stuff such as shrimp for lunch special are smaller portions, but hey again it’s $ 6 delivered! and the shrimp was properly cooked and tasted fine. This is not what it was 20 years ago. accept it for what it is and you get a good meal for a reasonable price. Just remember to tell them No MSG or Sugar or whatever and they do what you say. Had the delivery guy sit outside for 15 minutes one time when the bell to get in wasn’t working. didn’t leave, just kept trying to get in, and he was pleasant about it.

This is the secong time that I have had lunch from Hunan. Last week was pork with garlic sauce, very good. This week was shrimp lo mein also very good. Actually many weeks ago I had General Tsao’s chicken and asked for brocolli to be added which they did at no extra charge and it was very good.

This place is under new management. They expand the menu and reduce the price. Lunch now is only $ 6 and come with a soup or egg roll, just like before. I had shredded beef with garlic sauce and it is good. The owner is very nice too.

New Management = RIP Hunan Pavilion. Sadly, the family members who took the restaurant over seem to have created two fatal flaws: first, whatever purveyor they’ve switched to for their dumplings, egg rolls and spring rolls makes a MUCH lower-quality product: big on thick dough and minuscule and bland on filling. But the true kiss of death is that it does not appear the new chef can actually cook Chinese food. While the vegetables are fresh and crisp and the tofu has a nice consistency, the sauces are oily and bland, completely ruining the finished product. This is a grave loss for FF: the original Hunan Pavilion was the best Chinese in the area, and their Chinese-text menu revealed many true gems. I hope they do the right thing and find a new chef quickly, though I think we just ordered our last meal from them.

This guys are clueless on how to operate a successful business. Ordered at 9:00PM online. Called to confirm order & add coupon. Waited till 9:45 to call, no answer. They post their hours of operation and close at 10. Needless to say they were a no show. First and last time for them. Plenty of others to choose from. Step up or step out Hunan.

I’ve left a review for Hunan before, but considering they apparently just changed ownership, I figured it’s time for another one. I have not eaten here since my last review(and bout of food poisoning) 2 years ago, but my boyfriend has continually ordered from them, seeming as he’s never had a food issue. I ordered delivery for him last night — shrimp pad thai and steamed pork dumplings. The food came in less time than they quoted(about 15⁄20 mins when they said 40) and that was the only positive thing about the meal. Dumplings were fine — he said — but not«as good as usual». When I pulled out the pad thai it was atomic, BRIGHT red. It looked and smelled as if someone had dumped sweet and sour sauce all over it. There were no veggies in it, no egg(not even sprouts). Just shrimp, noodles, crushed peanuts and bright red, sticky sauce. In retrospect, I wish I had taken a picture of it. We called back and were first told they have a new chef. But upon speaking to them further, we got it out of them that it’s totally new ownership(and a glance at the included menu confirmed as much). The woman on the other end of the phone offered to make and deliver a different dish and insisted the pad thai was made correctly. Fine — he ordered shrimp fried rice instead and we waited. It came about 15 minutes later and he took the pad thai to give to the delivery guy. HE tried to tell him that it’s red because of the chilis(when I say red, i literally mean the bright red sauce that comes with sweet and sour chicken). The shrimp fried rice was totally unremarkable. Just brown rice and shrimp. No veggies, no egg, no sprouts — nothing but shrimp and rice. It got chucked in the garbage. So be forewarned… if you thought it was bad under the last ownership, that was NOTHING. OH — and I should touch on the fact that the shrimp pad thai was nearly $ 13, the shrimp fried rice is not even close to being that expensive and there was no refund of the difference in price.

I’ve ordered delivery from this place on a weekly basis. I used to praise the quality of this restaurant. I don’t do that anymore. The quality lately has drastically dropped. Consistenly getting cold soup and even the spare ribs being half the size and still charging $ 9.75 is beyond me. Not to mention the handful of times that they’ve completely ignored or forgotten my online orders left me longing, displeased, and hungry. Want to rectify that situation? Good luck. Not only are they completely dismissive and rude on the phone, but they make you genuinely regret ever putting a dime ever into their restaurant. It doesn’t stop there. Lately their delivery drivers are too lazy to even wait for you to answer the door. I’ve had food deliveries just left on the doorstep or hanging from my door knob after a ring of a door bell. By the time I answer the door, they’ve already left. Seriously? Is that what this place and it’s employees have come to? Overall, proximity/convenience is what had kept me going to this place and allowed me to forego a lot of its shortcomings. Unfortunately(and I doubt the staff of Hunan Pavilion give a shit) this is my last straw. Poor food quality and poor food service make it extremely difficult to justify paying for these poor, overpriced portions. I implore as many people as possible to avoid this place in an effort to better humanity and the community. Let’s not reward this type of callous behavior in any way shape or form.

Time to close up shop for these guys because at this point, all they are doing now is stealing people’s money. They’ve been around for ages and you’d think one would get better at their job or craft the longer they stayed in business. Not these guys — they keep getting worse and worse.

Very bad. Even the simple things like general tso chicken and egg rolls aren’t very good. I also ordered the chicken shrimp with mango sauce which is absolutely inedible, one of the grossest things I’ve ever tasted. Luckily there’s many quality Chinese restaurants in the same are, so there’s no reason to ever go here.

This has been our go to spot for quite a while now. Handmade dumplings and wontons are great. Going on 5 years and I’ve never had a bad meal here.

I love this place! My girlfriend and I go here pretty regularly for takeout and the food is consistently good! There Shanghai menu is loaded with atypical treats. If you’re in the mood for something spicy try the«Ants Climbing a Tree», I couldn’t slow down until the heat caught up with me, Rice noodles with shredded chicken, and a spicy sweet sauce. Very tasty! They’re great for takeout, but unlike a lot of Chinese restaurants, this place is great for eating in!
