Once again another perfect chopped salad and tacos at OPT! The tacos were«naked» which I prefer in order to taste the fish, chicken or beef. I am sure if you prefer to smother your tacos with toppings it would be available. Our thoughts were«no need»! Great idea on having Taco Thursdays! Dave and Heidi

Celebrated a big family event with dinner at the Old Post Tavern. When we arrived the bar was full, but we appeared to be early birds. By the time we’d finished the main dining room was filled. Selections were well rounded. .. from the paella(outstanding), to the teriyaki flank steak, to the broiled cod, near perfection. The clam chowder was pricey, but had depth and amazing flavor. The P.E.I mussels(huge portion) were served in a slightly watery sauce, but the lump crab meat cakes(could have been a bit larger) and the calamari were excellent. service was outstanding after an initial jump start(hey, we’re over hear!).We need to go back for lunch as the burgers and fish and chips need to be explored..

I LOVE this place. BEST burger in town! Great happy hour(don’t miss the $ 1 sliders). The roasted chicken special was dynamite! I have never been disappointed here. The vibe and location are great.

Crab cakes were phenomenal. Incredibly tasty burger, and my lady’s skirt steak was melt in your mouth. Everything cooked the way we ordered, and let’s not forget the bacon Mac n cheese which was incredible. Service was a little slow, but they were very busy and there were some customers who were giving them a hard time, acting like spoiled brats. That’s why a 4 out of 5

I was starving last night when I got off the train so I went to the Old Post Tavern for their fantastic chicken parmigiana — to die for and I have nothing but positive things to say about that(although I had to ask for bread to accompany it a few times before I finally got it). However, when paying my bill in cash, when I received my change the server didn’t bring the change of coins — $ 0.67. I called her over and asked why not. She said oh usually we don’t unless the customer asks. I said since that is your policy, why don’t you just round up and give the customer an extra dollar? I found that extremely odd — they could conceivably make thousands of extra dollars annually with this unprofessional practice! Maybe 67 cents in Fairfield County doesn’t seem like a lot but being short-changed any amount just feels wrong! I’m posting this in hopes the owners take note and educate their employees not to take advantage of their customers.

Solid. Nice room. Excellent paella. It’s a dish large enough to serve two. What looks like a traditional American restaurant actually has a varied menu and a pretty decent wine list too. I have lived in the area for year but have never tried the Old Post Tavern. I’m sure we will try it again.

Came here for Sunday brunch. My friend and I were promptly seated outside(our choice) and given water and menus. We had a choice between the brunch menu, lunch menu, and restaurant week menu. We both ended up ordering from the brunch menu. We ordered a Bloody Mary, strawberry blush, eggs Benedict, western omelet. The drinks were good. The Bloody Mary had a bit too much horseradish. My eggs were good, although nothing special. Nor was the omelette. I feel it should have come with some kind of topping, whether it be guac or sour cream. Both dishes came with a side of home fries, which was the star of the meal. I’m sure I’ll be back for lunch or dinner. Brunch was just ok. Service was good.

Yes! If you’re in the mood for a nice relaxing evening. This is a great spot. Amazing appetizers, wine, and food. Service was very good. Live music and great ambiance. In a very nice area in Fairfield. Walk down the road and you can grab a drink at another bar, ice cream, or a coffee. Stores in walking distance. Great date destination. I got oysters, meat and cheese platter, wine, and a lobster ravioli dish. For dessert I had the brownie sundae and everything I ate was superb. Will definitely be back soon!

The food is always good no matter what you get. Pricey but worth it. Service is a little slow but never too bad.

Let me start with a 3 is not a bad rating from me. It’s more then half good! Ambiance has a smart yet rustic feel and the staff is very friendly. The salad i had was well balanced and executed nicely. The ravioli was a bit overpowering with a sweet and tart flavor from the dried fruit. Less would have been more. But considering the smaller portion it was still somewhat enjoyable. My date had a mussels app which was simple but very generous portion and strong fresh flavors which she loved.

Went back here for a romantic dinner and it lacks the intimate feel I remember from before; tables seemed much closer together than in the past. Food was fresh and good for the most part… scallops were very moist and cooked perfectly but the corn risotto it was served over did not at all complement the scallops. It should have but instead of being sweet and creamy it was dry and the corn may have been canned because it was not at all sweet. Weird sauces didn’t add to it either; I didn’t eat it. Waitress was amazing.

My friends and I often go to old post tavern for happy hour. For the most part we have a good experience, can’t really beat 2 for 1 drinks. However we have consistently had poor service from the female bartender on Fridays. She is dry, sullen and when we ask for something, even if it’s simply placing an order, we feel like we are bothering her. The male bartender is great! We do our best to deal with him. We also enjoy the bar food, the pretzels are the best! The other issues we have had just a few times are they are out of specific beers, so just make sure you have a second choice prepared. I haven’t been for dinner, but happy hour is worth checking out.

Nice atmosphere. Enjoyed shrimp in a garlic cream sauce, pear Gorgonzola salad and NY strip steak. Food and service was very good. Definitely would come back.

I went to the OPT twice this past week. The first was on Tuesday, when I had luncheon with ten women. Everyone loved what they had; mine was the steak sandwich with a salad accompaniment. I enjoyed it so much that after raving about it to my husband, he insisted we go there Friday evening. We were not disappointed. We shared a wonderful salad with goat cheese, walnuts, strawberries and blueberries. Then he had the mussels(listed as an appetizer) as his entrée It was more than sufficient. I had the half portion of lobster ravioli, and devoured every morsel. The service was excellent, the ambiance lovely, and the prices very reasonable. We will definitely be back!

Not bad but not great. Lovely location and staff I got the salad which was a half of a icebergs head and a grilled chicken salad. It’s was ok but not amazing.

Back again after a long while for a weeknight dinner. Low key and sophisticated bar scene, very comfortable. Great crab cakes, marvelous Caesar graciously divided for my wife and me. Wish the generous mussels were a bit larger and more flavorful, though. Still a generous and well poured drink… Menu continues mostly as it was a year ago and I would hope for something new and great soon.

Stopped in with my teen son on a Tuesday afternoon and I had their watermelon salad and he had mango and scallops salad and both were great. Prices were very reasonable and service was great. Couldn’t ask for more.

The meal was eminently forgettable. I had a Lobster role that was less than fresh. The toasted hot dog bun was more noteworthy that the lobster. The accompanying French Fries were overcooked. Lyn had a Chicken Salad sandwich that was unimpressive. We visited on an Amazon Coupon.

Took my daughter and her FU friends here for dinner. I had great piece of Tuna. Perfectly prepared rare and very tasty over sautéed spinach. I recommend it when looking in Fairfield. Home made desserts were all great.

Not a fan. Went here with a few of my girls for birthday drinks. Sat at a table next to the bar waiting to order several 10 dollar martinis only to be told we would have to leave if we weren’t going to order dinner. Seriously? Will never go there ever ever ever. Keep waiting for the place to turn over again to something better. Tommy’s! I miss you and your super fun open to the street bar and not overly pretentious attitude. Come back.
