I wish I could say nicer things about this adorable used book store which also showcases a small selection of new books, and features some delicious desertts, amazing foods, and coffee beverages. I came here at least 20 times(I know, should have checked in each time…) but only after being ac regular for about 3 months(to the point they would start making my drink before I got to the counter) did I finally think to ask if they had a frequent buyer card. They did. I didn’t get any extra punches for being a regular. Fair enough, my mistake. So nothing(hardlyanything, if anything) is organic, and the drinks are mediocre. The best part is the deserts, and the grilled Californian sandwich. I wish they would step up their game and switch to all organic, because then they would give Paradiso a run for their money. I do love the atmosphere. I do love their milkshakes. I just wish the batista would smile more, or at least tried to be friendlier. Maybe I am just too friends but that’s no reason to scowl at everyone who comes in. If I didn’t have my adorable baby I think they would have continued to be as rude as they were when I first came here.

Passing through Fairfield and thought I’d get a coffee. For a crappy little town in the middle of no where, they were pretty snooty. The coffee sucked and when I left a 1. Tip for a 2. Coffee they didn’t even say thank you…

Affordable used books, many are unusual and normally hard to find, likely due to the local population and their interests. Make sure you check out the upstairs and the basement level for more selections.

Chill spot in the town square that offers food, drinks, and a place to relax. Entering revelations two entrance doors you’re greeted by tables and chairs with the walls filled with books that have ranges of topics. The place has a real homey vibe that makes you want to stay and read a book. The demographic that I see come here are the aging baby boomers looking to grab some lunch or the average MUM student looking to grab a quick coffee for breakfast. I’ve only tried the grilled Californian which was pretty good and I occasionally get this when I’m in the mood for delicious turkey. I really enjoy the energy and simplicity of the place which makes me feel really cozy here. Overall great place with good vibes, only downsides I noticed here are the prices which can be quite expensive of you’re buying food and the hours. This place close pretty early and sucks how you can’t hangout here after school when you want to. Otherwise espresso and coffees are pretty cheap. Finally this is a good place to lounge when open, so grab yourself a sandwich, coffee, and just relax.

I’ve been here 5 or 6 times, and I’ve always been happy with the food. The ambiance is also great — as it doubles as a used bookstore. There are a lot of choices on the menu, and many healthy choices as well. Their coffee choices are on par with starbucks or any other coffee house as well.

I haven’t been to Revelations in a few years. It used to have great pizza but not any more. I had a pizza there recently and it was nothing like before. It used to be made with fresh Greek olives — now they’re the cheapo canned olives. It used to have dollops of fresh pesto. Now it has a few small globs of tasteless green muck that’s so old it’s gone black. Same with the other ingredients. Instead of a flavorful pie full of fresh ingredients, it tasted like cardboard. I’ve had better frozen pizza. I had heard Revelations went downhill after Julie left. Sorry to say it’s true.

Revelations has always been one of the better places to eat in Fairfield. The food is pretty healthy and the atmosphere is nice with books, gifts and an Italian Wood burning stove. I got a Californian Pizza this time and the Avocado tasted a bit rotten on it which wasn’t great. Also didn’t enjoy a 40 minute wait for my food since I came before the place filled up. The pricing seemed fairly high for what I got but not outrageous. Lastly one room is under construction right now with the floors ripped up so it’s not quite as nice as usual. Service was just ok. Some friendly folks, some a little stressed and cranky. If you’ve never been it’s definitely somewhere to try in Fairfield.

We had our daughter’s local wedding reception at Revelations. They did everything for us and the food was to die for. I’m trying to think of another event we can host at Revelations just to repeat the experience.

Mediocre, from the stale assortment of books to the under-seasoned entrees. My fiancé loves this place, but I personally don’t see the appeal. Every time I’m there, I find myself wishing I could eat elsewhere. It’s cramped, too, and in some areas totally claustrophobic. The pizza is just not good. Turkey burgers were just meh. A step above fast-food at their best, at twice the price.

I was visiting Fairfield for a job interview and stopped in to Revelations after a Unilocal search for«coffeeshops» near me. It was about 3pm and I was hungry after a rainy drive from the Cedar Rapids airport. I ordered an iced Chai latte, an avocado, tomato, goat cheese sandwich and sat down to use the free wifi to check Facebook. Life was pretty good. My sandwich was decent, if a little boring. I thought the sign had said it would come with fruit but it came with chips(no biggie, I didn’t really read the sign very well I suspect…) and I paid about $ 14 after tip, which is a bit steep for lunch, but not terrible. It was quiet and friendly and I’d definitely come back to try the pizza!

Simply a must visit. The prices are a little high for food/drink in the area, especially where food here is just OK or slightly below, but they can ask the price for the greatness they provide all around. Lots of space, tons of books. Quality.

Never, never, never do I enter the city limits of Fairfield without making a stop in Revelations. I love the ability to scour shelves of used books for hours and being able to walk out with great bargains. The books are all fairly priced and there is a great variety that you normally won’t find in a small town Iowa bookstore. It is always invigorating to see the diversity of customers and to pick up bits and pieces of stimulating conversation. This is not the prim and proper tea room where everyone is talking about what Marge wore to church on Sunday. The clientele here is intelligent, international and inquisitive. I always feel inspired by hanging out here. On the food front, I am a fan of their pizza but have never eaten anyhing else. I love the hot chocolate.

The Revelation’s pizza was delicious — black olive, red pepper, artichoke hearts, onion, and spinach. Crisp thin crust with just the right amount of cheese. I love that the place is also a book store. I found two great books the night I was there. I was flipping through one of them at my table when a staff member came up to me and told me that the author was there and was signing books. So I went and had a great little chat with the author and got my book autographed.

I was a bit disappointed by Revelations. It’s so cute inside, which can’t be denied, but the lunches are seriously wimpy. We paid around $ 7 a sandwich and they were tiny! Barely any filling and they came with just a small side of crinkle potato chips. Needless to say we left hungry. Several other people had the pizzas which look good, but they said the recipe has changed and most of them were disappointed. It looked like the crusts are now pre-made which is just lame.

This is definitely not somewhere to go for a quick lunch. The service was very slow and the wait staff was a little snotty. Those things aside, the brick oven pizza was fresh and delicious. The atmosphere is definitely what gives this place charm. I loved the gigantic used book selection and interesting local trinkets that were for sale. Another bonus, I spent more on the books than I did on my meal. I could spend hours here(might even have to!).

The pizza here is incredible. I’ve lived in major cities on the east and west coasts and I am sincerely impressed with their brick oven pizza. Order the cheese pizza with pepperoni, you won’t be disappointed. The sandwiches are decent too. It’s a great place to hang out in Fairfield and have some coffee, food and surf the web. They really need beer/wine though. You can buy some of the best coffee beans around. Just ask them what they have available to sell and you can buy a bag of whole beans(or ground). I actually find the beans here to be more consistently great than the beans at nearby Café Paradiso. NOTE: be warned that the service can be extremely slow during rush hours at lunch and dinner(it very popular). If you’re in a hurry during lunch/dinner rush hour then avoid.
