The Fairport Public Library is an excellent community library that offers traditional library services(borrowing books and DVDs, use of public computers, etc) and a phenomenal variety of programming in a cozy setting. Their new children’s section is colorful and inviting, with an outstanding collection of books to choose from, along with a fun play area geared towards younger children. For example, there is a table set up where kids can make felt pizzas, scoop ice cream, and practice their dining skills. Clearly these are important skills to learn when you’re raising future Unilocalers! No seriously, this library offers really enriching, diverse programming and I encourage everyone to check out their website. I have attended many programs such as preschool science, music and movement classes, along with storytimes and other special events. Storytimes usually involve singing, learning sign language, dancing, crafts, and of course, reading stories aloud. For older kids and teens, they also offer really fun programs like cupcake wars, lego club, movies, and library club. Adults can also benefit from their book discussions or programming for job-seekers such as a mock interview session or cover letter workshop. The staff are all wonderful and attentive, and more importantly, the other patrons are friendly, responsible, and respectful. I highly recommend visiting this library, especially if you have young children.

Cute little library in a cute little town. Who could ask for more?

This is one of many village and town libraries in the Monroe County Library system. Strangely, it is located in the basement of shopping plaza, with some of the most illegible signage ever designed. Once you do find it, it is a decent library with very friendly staff and services. Not a huge depth of a selection, but ok. it seems to be geared towards families and young reader more than adults, maybe that is just my impression.
