Great food and great service. Come here every weekend and get the al macs platter. I highly recommend also trying the chocolate chip pancakes. They always try to accommodate our group of friends at their tables and give us no issues!

This place is decent, don’t expect much, but the food is priced right and the service is good! I got an omelette and it was actually pretty good. Give this place a shot!

Ate there Easter because Rogers was closed. Place is clean. Waitress was good but I ordered ham+2 eggs and my wife had sausage + 1 egg. The ham was tiny and the food was tasty but with tip cost me $ 22 for breakfast which is ridiculous. it was $ 2.50 for coffee, that’s unbelievable. You can go down the street to Rogers and get the same meal for $ 12 + a muffin to take home. This place should be in New York where people have lots of money not Fall River. I will never eat there again. I would rather go to mac donalds if everywhere else is closed. No wonder it was full on Easter.

This was not the same greasy spoon my parents took me to so many years ago. The food was delicious, fast and reasonably priced. Our waitress was a sweetheart and made sure everything was perfect. The fries were the star of my plate, fresh, hot and lightly sprinkled with sea salt. My burger was juicy, cooked to order and gernerously covered in bacon and blue cheese crumbles.(I couldn’t even bring myself to put catsup or mustard on it!) My mother in law got a lovely BLT with hand cut chips that were amazing. I will be returning to see what else they can do with a quaint diner menu. They have definitely won me over.

Stopped here this morning for breakfast, very disappointed. First — My husband ordered eggs with hash browns and white toast but got home fries and wheat toast. second — all three of us got uncooked home fries. Coffee was like mud, and service was absolutely awful!!! While we were waiting at our table the waitresses brought back at least 6 dishes that were not correct to the cook staff. I’m all about having a little fun at work but the cook staff here were socializing so much that they couldn’t pay attention to the orders they were making. New owners = not the food or atmosphere, that was our last visit, to many really good places for breakfast to go back here

This place is what you would call a «roach coach». Disgusting. I wouldn’t eat here over McDonalds on President Ave. Not only is the food deplorable, the owner is absolutely degrading to the clients. He threatened to tow our vehicles when his business wasn’t even open. He completely ruined our evening with his gregarious attitude regarding«his» parking lot that he thinks he owns. If Almacs was actually good and had patrons at their establishment then the parking lot monopoly would be understandable. However, since mainly intoxicated people show up at 2am to eat gross food at this roach coach, the owner may want to focus less of his efforts on harassing decent people about parking in a public lot.

Instantly sick from Al wacks. Worst coffee I’ve ever been served to begin with. The home fries that I ordered with my breakfast were undercooked and still had the skin on them. My scrambled eggs still had the yolk running through them, unacceptable. The only stomachable’ portion of my meal was my butter drenched wheat toast(I ordered rye). ENTERATYOUROWNRISK.

I had the most disgusting experience at the diner last weekend and as a result will never return. I have been going to the diner since I was in grade school. After the re-opening and obnoxious price increases, I still remained a customer because their food was good — the toast was always perfect and the eggs tasty. Last Sunday(August 2) I arrived around noon for a late breakfast. I sat at a table and, being a curious, observant person watched the staff and the cook working the grill area behind the counter. I noted the grill cook was wearing gloves, but then watched him remove earbud earphones from his left ear and itch the inside of his left ear with one of his fingers. He then immediately began handling the spatulas without changing gloves. A few minutes later he took a single piece of paper towel, lined his palm and fingers, and used it to wipe the sweat off of his forehead. Then without changing gloves he removed toast from the toaster with these gloves on, buttered the toast, and placed it on a plate. I immediately told the waitress and left. He might as well have been wiping his butt-crack then handling food, because what he was doing was equally as disgusting. In hindsight, I should have watched what table that food went to and told the customer before they ate it.

I dont know what happened but this was an aweful experience. We stood at the door for 5 minutes with out an acknowledgment. Took over an hour to get 2 omelets. The staff had the prsonality of a rattle snake. The food used to be outstanding. It was average today i think Friendly’s may ha e given me a better breakfast. And no offense $ 2.50 fir coffee. Cmon

Went on the 18th and it was pretty busy which is understandable but it was extremely loud. We waited 30mins for refills on are drinks. There was hair in are pancakes and in are eggs, completely and utterly nasty we will never go again.(I would give them 0 stars if I could)

I was very sad to visit the«new» Al Mac’s Diner. Came for a sunday morning breakfast and was impressed by the new booths which are a grand improvement over the old uncomfortable ones. And the waitress was fine too. Tbe unfortunate part comes with the breakfast. The toast was barely toasted and over buttered and the size and thickness if the side of ham was embarrassingly small. But worst if all was the old classic Al Mac’s homefries are gone. Those golden brown gems that used to be kept in a mound in the corner of the grill have been replaced by bland crispy boiled potatoes that you can get anywhere.

I’m really sad to say that I never got to taste anything here. I showed up around 10am on a Tuesday and stood in the door for a while. I like the décor — it’s a classic diner with the flat-top grill right behind the counter for all to see. The art is kitschy and the music is good. However, the staff suck. Flat out rude to start — I asked to be seated at the counter and was ignored. I sat down and was yelled at to go wait at the door. Then the same woman tells me I can come sit at the counter now, as opposed to a minute ago? I don’t follow. I flipped through the sizable menu and made my selection — And waited… And waited… And waited… I even left my seat and used the bathroom before I continued to wait. All told, I waited almost 45 minutes to be served and was never even acknowledged, apart for the yelling incident. Trust me. I won’t be back.

Unfortunately this diner is heading back to where the previous owners left off. Fortunately the place is still pretty clean especially in comparison to the way it was with the previous owner. It was obvious from the outset that they would not be able to maintain the high quality of food that they were offering at such ridiculously low prices. Unfortunately I think reality has set in and they’ve come to the realization that they had to cut their food costs to stay profitable. Having to pay $ 2.50 for a cup of coffee that is mediocre(I’m being gentle in my criticism here) and that I rarely if ever finish, is what keeps me away from this diner. I don’t care how good the food is, if I can’t get a good cup of my morning Joe then I won’t eat there. Besides, it’s pretty hard to screw up eggs, but they manage to ruin the rest of it with the worst tasting link sausage that I’ve ever had. However the bacon is very good and the ham is acceptable, but I wouldn’t go out of my way to get it. Nine times out of ten, the toast is so light that you can’t even tell it was put in a toaster. On other occasions I’ve ordered the same dish more than once and often comes out differently than the previous time I ordered it. Don’t even bother ordering the Eggs Benedict with ham as it will come out with diced ham instead of a slice of ham or Canadian Bacon as you would expect. I’ve heard customers make favorables remarks regarding their hamburgers. I rarely eat hamburgers, but when I do it has to be extremely high quality. I took a client to lunch not too long ago and while he said his hamburger was good, one look at it and I can say without a doubt that I would never order a burger there. I understand their need to cut their food costs, and it was to be expected. In doing that however, they need to pay even more attention to detail by being consistent with their menu items, preparation and food quality. I hope they’re able to honestly evaluate their products and services and turn this around the other way before it’s too late.

Place is average. I’ve only been late night after drinking and even then wasn’t blown away. The crowd can get rowdy which is understandable given their late night hours. Last time I came in the table seated behind us were in a full out brawl. Food is just mediocre.

Came here on a friday night. Really good, had breakfast food. Affordable, came fast and they were really busy. Everything looked and smelled great. Came with a group of people and everyone was satisfied.

I said last year during Al Mac’s grand reopening that I would update my review to reflect how things were once they got through their growing pains and it’s such a shame that nothing really improved with time. I had been coming here almost monthly since the last update and things flucuated from visit to visit so much that I felt like I couldn’t update my review until their service evened out a bit more. I ate here twice over the past two months with the Groupon special and each time was worse than the last. Today’s lack of quality service and edible food was the final nail in the coffin. The cool décor of the retro diner is not enough to make up for the flaws in the restaurant’s service and subpar food. Today, I ordered three different items off their lunch menu and was told each time the item was sold out. Twice our waitress knew right away and the third time she had to come back and tell me after I had put in my order. Her excuse was they were«changing the menu» so some items had been out for awhile. Maybe some sort of signage in the front alerting customers to that would be nice? All of the food I tried to order were lunch items since I didn’t really feel like breakfast. At Al Mac’s, you can really tell that breakfast food is their bread and butter. If they want to be a breakfast-exclusive restaurant they should just go that way permanently instead of neglecting two whole pages of their menu offerings and frustrating customers who went there with the intention of ordering non-breakfast food. I finally ended up just getting a house salad and a cup of tomato bisque and both items were bland and flavorless. So disappointing, I hope Al Mac’s gets their act together soon since it’s been a staple in my life since childhood.

Wanted a good breakfast place to hit up with some co-workers after working an overnight. I’ve been looking for a place that has good home fries. Man how come it’s so hard to make home fries?! Well Al Mac got it right. Their home fries were a home run. I’m sure that pun has never been used… Moving on. Honestly my whole breakfast was good but expensive. I paid $ 10 for two pancakes, 3 sausage links and a really small side of home fries. That’s a $ 7 meal at best. And then I guess my OJ was over $ 2? I can get a bottle of Simply Orange for an extra buck. BUT! I don’t mind supporting local businesses. However pricey and small portioned I may think this breakfast was, all flavor was on point, which is the real reason why we eat out. I want simple, good tasting food. And it was. My one friend had an omelet and the other I don’t quite remember. The consensus for all three were that the home fries were great. The only other downfall at the time that we went in was that their card machine was down by the time we had to pay. So remember that $ 10 meal I had? Well I didn’t end up paying for it. I hate that though, I much rather pay for myself. My friends and I will be returning for another breakfast shindig, but this time I’ll be prepared with cash! 4 stars. –half a star for small portion of home fries –half a star for no working card machine. Small diner, not sure when or if it gets busy. Not too sure about lunch or dinner. And our waiter? He was super friendly. :)

Forget everything you thought about the old Al Mac’s and give the new one a shot! I used to LOATHE Al Mac’s and the grouchy, hungover waitresses and sticky booths and greasy food. But now it’s all fresh inside and the wait staff are actually friendly and while the breakfast menu is essentially the same, the quality of food is MUCH better. Nice, thick pieces of toast, big fluffy omelettes, and herbed homefries that are delicious. I may just make the trek back to the Dirty Riv a little more frequently now.

Went there once over the summer for lunch and got a chicken parm. that was tasty with a great side of fries. Came back this evening to get a birthday dinner with my partner and was blown away by how good it was. I read that they have been working out some new-owner kinks, I feel like they’re really getting it sorted. They were hosting a classic car night so the diner looked its shiny best with a bunch of neat hot rods outside. Half the diner was full up with people but there was still space for us and the service was totally fine. We both ordered off the specials menu. I got the buttermilk fried chicken which was really some of the best fried chicken I’ve had. Tasty crunchy coating, not at all greasy, spicy without being just your average salt/pepper/paprika flavors. It came with a side of mashed potatoes and oven roasted carrots both of which were prepared well and all served on a nice plate. Partner had pork chops served with a side of tender green beans, some sort of cabbage(which I did not try) and a potato pancake. Both portions were ample for the prices and everyone there was chatty and friendly. This place has much better than average diner food all served up in a bright and friendly atmosphere that is more spacious than a lot of the other diners in the local area. We’ll be back again.
