Love this place! Only disappointment is that when I used to love close enough to deliver they didn’t deliver all day. =(just after 5 or something like that. Either way… amazing food amazing staff. I miss living next to it.

The elephants was jumping! This is the best authentic Thai food in the DMV. The authentic Thai Ladd Na was marinated pork was flavorful and served over a bed of flat rice noodles while the sauce had a smoky, fish taste. The Roti Green Curry Chicken appetizer was a good mix of coconut and green curry sauce and had several chunks of white meat chicken swimming in it. The Roti was pan fried, but ok. The Crispy Tilapia with Crispy Basil Sauteed is an explosion of sweet brown sauce and subtle heat. The fish portions were generous. The chicken fried rice was tasty due to the use of Thai fish sauce and high quality rice. The Mango Sticky Rice was a work of art and super fresh and tasty. The only con was the slow service because they were understaffed for Father’s Day.

This restaurant is our go to for some quick Thai food that is near our home. The staff is always very friendly and the service is fast. Elephant Jumps also had some dishes, such as the tuna curry, that are not very common among Thai restaurants in this area.

Excellent place! The food was delicious, hot and quick. They were very accommodating to our family, even going to a restaurant next door to borrow a booster seat when our 3yo was too big for the high chair they had. The service was friendly and food fantastic.

This is an authentic thai restaurant. The owner has exquisite taste for food, music and art. The tissue, plate, dining sets he chose are so pleasant. ok most importantly, menu is creative and appealing! Try more adventurous dishes such as cashew chicken with taro nest! They use fresh tiger shrimp for shrimp dishes instead of frozen shrimp.

I have been here half a dozen times. Each time, I do the same thing: I ask the waitress or waiter for their favorite dishes. Time after time I’m blown away by the depth and breadth of flavor, of nuance and unadulteratedly delicious. There is a pork curry that’s out of this world. A dried tuna salad that has transformed the way I think about fish. Don’t go for the same Thai dish you’d get at your run of the mill South East Asian place cause they do so much more. Happy eating!

Yet another stop on my east coast tour. My friend picked this place b/c she had been to my «wedding rehearsal dinner» and it was at a Thai place in San Jose so she thought I would like it. We had a reservation for 6 — we got the table in back — It is a small place located in a shopping mall. The beers were nice and cold. we ordered all kinds of things — I was not in charge — so I can’t really say other than I suggested the scallops that were very very good(surprisingly good, with a crispy basil)

A group of 6 of us ate dinner here midweek. We made a reservation, they had a table set up in the back. We started with the Thai dumplings, Roti green curry chicken, and spring rolls. Everything was delicious. For the mains we got Gang Hung Lay, salmon fried rice(salmon is crispy fried bite sized that taste separate from the rice), scallops with green basil, chicken pad Thai(very good and classic), peanut satay(my favorite dish and would get this again), Penang curry with beef(v good), My biggest complaint would be the GPS couldn’t seem to find it. It is in the shopping center. Place is small so make a reservation. Service is very good. I would come back here again.

This is our second favorite Thai restaurant in the area(Sisters Thai is still the best, IMO), but it’s a close second. We don’t like take-out from Sisters Thai, and if we don’t feel like dealing with the crowd(seriously, Sisters is always packed), we go here. The staff is always super friendly and great with my 2 year old. It is a calm and casual environment, but the food is always solid. The only thing preventing it from 5 stars is the salt level. I am a salty eater, and I still find the dishes here to be overly salted. My husband gets the chicken panang curry every time. I’ve had several good dishes, but my favorite is the authentic dish, Ladd na moo mug, especially with the vinegar. We always get my toddler one of the veggies dishes, and he’s very happy.

An all around excellent experience. The food was great, the crabmeat cooked to perfection. Take an chance on an authentic dish, you may be surprised by how much you like it! The service was prompt and friendly.

First time here! AMAZING food. Got the Stir Fried Basil Chicken Lunch Special. It was marked with a chili and I meant to tell them make it mild. When it came the spice level was just right! More than enough food for lunch today and tomorrow but I eat small portions anyway. The«Two sticks of Crispy Flat Bread Shrimp with cucumber sauce» was to die for, I could have eaten a plate of them alone with rice! I will be back and HIGHLY recommend it to anyone in the area. Oh and BESTTHAIICEDTEA!!!

Elephant Jumps is quite unique. Pad Thai — I’ve never had Pad Thai like this before. The consistency was like chapagetti; squishy, chewy, dry, but packed with flavor. It was good, but confusing. I don’t really know how I feel about it. Drunken Noodles — They definitely don’t tone down the heat for the American palate which I greatly appreciated. Nice and fiery! Only thing I did wish was that there was more of that drunken noodle sauce tossed in with the noodles. Other than that, I really enjoyed it. I’m pretty sure if I came back and tried another dish, I would definitely up their rating. For now, considering how surprisingly more expensive they are compared to other Thai restaurants, I’m going to go with a 3.

I arrived here at 11:20, first customer of the day. I was warmly greeted and invited to sit anywhere. My server was not only attentive, helpful, pleasant, and timely at the start of lunch time but throughout the rush. The place was full by noon. I chose lunch special #8 Pad See Ew Moo, a popular Thai fried noodle dish. It was served with a cup of soup and a small salad. The soup was shrimp and mushroom in a clear broth and the salad was simple greens and peanut sauce. It was all good and the right sized portion for lunch. I was surprised at how mild the spice level was and will request more heat on my next visit.

I’ve tried a couple Thai restaurants now, and I will have to say that although the restaurant isn’t as fancy, the food was excellent! Customer Service: Good. Although I barely got enough time to really look at the menu before being asked 3 times if we were ready, they were quite attentive. They did take away the spice/chilli ‘for a moment” because apparently they only had 2 of them available for their customers. Otherwise, they were attentive and quick. Banana Blossom Salad: DELICIOUS! I LOVEIT! I have absolutely no idea what they put in it other than some chicken, shrimp, red onion, some chillis, and maybe some cabbage… honestly, I could just have that with some rice. It wasn’t as spicy as I was expecting, but it was still delicious. The flavors were bold, with a little spice, and a hint of sweetness. I also tasted a little bit of fish sauce… Overall, YUM! Pad Thai: I usually don’t like pad thai, but one of my friends wanted it. I LOVED it! Apparently they make their own noodles for it. The noodles were soft, and there wasn’t that weird after-taste that I get from other restaurants. I could taste the peanut flavor and honestly, it was really addicting. This is probably only the second time I’ve ever really loved a pad thai dish. Green Curry: I’ve had better, but it wasn’t bad. It was tooo sweet. I think they might have put too much coconut milk and not enough of the curry. The spice was not there, but I still enjoyed it. The flavors were not strong enough to match my liking. Drunken Noodles: I wish there was more of it! My sister absolutely loves drunken noodles, and she approved. Some thai restaurants get scared to make it too spicy and end up not making it spicy enough, but they had just enough spice. It was great. I shared these dishes with 2 friends who also love thai food as much as I do, and they loved everything. They could not stop talking about how good the food was. We will definitely go back again.

Easily my favorite Thai Restaurant in Northern VA. The owner and staff are exceptionally friendly, and work patiently with customers as they explore the authentic food menu. Respect and quality service is what you get here. I usually order the Penang Curry or Drunken Noodles w/Ginger Tea during lunch break. Prices are exceptionally reasonable and the quality spices and care put into the food definitely has a mind lingering affect that draws you back to this restaurant. Great for lunch of dinner!

This place is wicked awesome. Courtney loves the spring rolls, which, they’re seriously really good. So far, her favorite entrée is the panang curry. For me, the yum pla dook foo is unbeatable — crispy fried tuna in this amazing spicy/sweet sauce that burns so good you just keep going back for me. I also love the gang hung lay, this irresistibly rich and unctuous pork curry served with sticky rice. The portion is smallish, but you’ll definitely savor it. Some menu items aren’t so great, but they have constantly changing specials and the menu begs for exploration! I can’t wait to continue my novitiate at Elephant Jumps!

Poor service. My coworkers and I wanted to place a large order for lunch. Their website says they deliver within 3 miles and per google maps our office is 3.1 miles away. We asked politely if they would deliver to us for a large order and they refused. I’ve eaten here before and the food is good, but a little customer service goes a long way. I will not be ordering from them again. By the way, I just placed another Thai Food delivery order at another restaurant which is 7 miles away and they said they would gladly deliver to us for a $ 50 order.

My brother took our family here, claiming it was one of the best Thai places in the area. I went in slightly suspicious of his statement and holding on the idea of the best one being Tong Thai near GMU. Our order list went as follows: Appetizers: — Golden Triangle(Fried Tofu) — These never have any flavor and I have yet to discover why we order these every time, but we do. — Roti Green Curry Chicken with Fried Pancakes– I’m so psyched about this and if my brother’s girlfriend was not there I would have declared this dish solely mine. The curry boasted a satisfying balance of cream and spice and the pancake added a delightful dimension of crispness to each bite(and there were many). I’m drooling a little, days later. — Thai Chicken Satay– Another mindless order that makes me scratch my head, wherever we go the chicken is always dry and overcooked. All the more reason to drown it in the peanut sauce, I suppose. — Yum Pla Dook Foo. Deep fried ground fish with a mango spicy salad. Yeah, um. Not my thing. Was an odd texture– it wasn’t flour but didn’t seem like fish. Entrees: — Pad See Ew– A favorite, love the smoky/sweetness to it. Was disappointed that stayed near my dad, who has difficulty chewing most foods. My hopes sank as my mom wrapped up the leftovers cheerfully, declaring that it’d make for a fine lunch. — Ka Na Neua(Chinese Broccoli, Marinated Beef, Ginger, and Oyster Sauce) — My brother’s favorite, pretty good but not particularly memorable. — Gang Hung Lay(Slow Cooked Pork Curry with Sticky Rice) — HO! This was bangin’. The pork fell apart in my mouth, the only drawback that it was a tiny bit on the sweet side for me. — Prig Sod Moo(Green Peppers, Onion, Pork) — Again, pretty good but nothing of note. Spicy. — Crispy Tilapia with Crispy Basil– Stayed by my dad’s side, would have liked to try more. Oh I will definitely be back.

This is one of my fave restaurants in DC. Food is great. Attentive service. We tried the fried whole fish with chili garlic sauce($ 24). It was terrific, the fish was very crunchy and the sauce was fresh and flavorful. I highly recommend the hua plee to start, a salad with shrimp and chicken. And durian with sticky rice for dessert.

My family was looking for a Thai restaurant with unique, street-food dishes when my aunt stumbled across Elephant Jumps. It’s a small restaurant tucked away in an older shopping center but has some wonderfully different Thai dishes :) As advised by other Unilocalers, we ordered dishes off the chalkboard in addition to the main menu. We ordered: — Papaya salad: one of my favorite Thai dishes; has a nice spicy kick! — Dumplings(?): I’m not sure what they were called on the menu since my aunt ordered but nothing too special — Banana blossom salad: we were all intrigued by this dish; a tasty medly of cooked, shaved coconut with shrimp and chicken. a must try! — Fried scallops: delicious! eat while still warm :) — Drunken noodles: standard Thai drunken noodles, still tasty — Gang Hung Lay(slow cooked pork curry): delicious! the pork was so tender and crumbled in my mouth with every bite — Fried flounder: comes with sticky rice; absolutely must try with the sauce(beware it has a kick to it!) — Thai ice tea: serving was on the smaller side so I’ll probably pass on this next time I will be back for the specialty/traditional Thai dishes!

Elephant Jumps is a wonderful restaurant in Merrifield. However, I had no idea it was in Merrifield and how close it was to the Mosaic District. It is a small restaurant in a strip mall and from the outside, it appears understated. Do not be fooled. On the inside, Elephant Jumps is warm, inviting, and the food is anything but ordinary. Like I mentioned it is a small restaurant(i didn’t count but maybe less than 15 tables). Luckily, we were just a group of two and they seated within minutes of walking into the restaurant. They explained their menu this way: they have a menu with more traditional Thai dishes and a menu with more familiar Thai dishes. We both ordered from the traditional menu. I essentially ordered the Pad See Ew Moo Mag which is a noodle dish and my fiancé ordered the Gang Hung Lay which is a slow cooked pork curry. I tried both dishes and they were fantastic. They were flavorful dishes and well executed. I thought they were spicy but not too intense and you did not lose the flavor. The Gang Hung Lay comes with sticky rice and lettuce leaves so you can build you meal. My did not have any complaints and said he enjoyed the meal. Everyone is friendly and helpful and the service was very good. There was never an empty table while we there and there was wait. In some cases it may not be a good thing but here, I would wait and I will definitely come back.
