Very limited seating. Aside from that worth eating there. I had biscuits and gravy. Not your traditional southern style but quire good. Huge and tasty waffles and fantastic single origin coffee

Great Sunday breakfast destination on the Harley. Foods good, atmosphere is good with lists to look at. Comfy family type feel with good eats.

My husband & I stayed at the nearby Falls Village Inn and wanted a cozy, delicious breakfast spot. This. Was. Perfection. The owners are friendly, and very accommodating. They only take cash, which we did not know, and our total was more than we had. Without blinking, the wife/owner, said«don’t worry, pay it forward!» And let us enjoy our time & our meal! So cozy & homey and the food was honestly the best breakfast we’ve had in years! Hands down. A must try!

Go here for breakfast! Although I am sure lunch would also be fantastic. Banger Platter is the real thing with everything done to perfection. Waffles also got rave reviews. Don’t be fooled by the looks. Just go and enjoy.

Ahhh! The Toymaker’s Café… It’s a destination spot for many motorcycle riders in the tri-state(Connecticut, New York, & Massachusetts) area. Getting here is half the fun. Every route presents spectacular roads and scenery. The café itself is a wonderfully quaint little place, with an eclectic mix of furnishings making for a warm, inviting space. The food is cooked on one small grille by the same fellow who also buys and sells vintage Brit bike stuff on days when the café is closed. You might share one of the few tables inside with some hipsters up from New York City, or maybe a somewhat disheveled hiker off the AT in slight need of a shower, a couple of weekend bicyclists, or very likely a few fellow motorcyclists. All can chat and enjoy each others’ company. A really neat thing. I’ve stopped in on several occasions, and always enjoy whatever I order. The one meal I’ve never tried was any variation on breakfast, although it can be had all day. On this last visit, I wasn’t terribly hungry, so I had a bowl of their own chili. My riding buddy this day had eggs and biscuits with sausage gravy. I mentioned to him that my chili, while very flavorful, tasted like the cap had fallen off the salt shaker when making it. He reluctantly replied that his sausage and gravy tasted that way also. VERY salty. Too bad, because it only needed a smidgen of salt since it was so good otherwise. Maybe today was an unfortunate fluke… I’d like to think so. It certainly won’t prevent me from stopping in the future, I’ll just be more selective about what I have next time. It’s a great destination ride and a really cool little café, even if you only stop for a hot or cold beverage and to chat with the variety of folks who also come here.

Wonderful place. Very Funky & a breath of fresh Air . After reading reviews on Unilocal a friend & I drove out here & had a relaxing breakfast & great visit. She had eggs Benedict & I had eggs florentine. Both were fantastic, the gentleman & his wife who ran the place were so cool. Coffee was great. In this day of fast food $ the homogeneous restaurants– this place was refreshing. A hug out tithe owners!

I enjoyed the cinnamon waffle here two weeks ago, and I’m still thinking about it! We live in Florida and stopped by based on reviews during our fall foliage tour. Now I only wish I lived closer. This place is full of local charm and filled with motorcycle odds and ends. A great stop that you have to do if in the area. g

This place is amazing. It has a very Californian vibe on the inside. The staff are knowledgable and friendly, and the food is great! They have many gluten free options and we agreed that the food was excellent and well priced. If you can run the risk of CC, their waffles are exceptionally good. They have an excellent drink selection, but I’d give the smoothies a pass as they aren’t made with real fruit. Otherwise delightful!

Toymaker’s is the quintessential«don’t judge a book by its cover» spot. See past the minimal seating and the kitschy décor — the food is top notch. Went for a late breakfast this morning after a hike in Washington Depot, and were blown away by this hidden gem. My fiancé had the Eggs Benedict on an everything bagel. Serious hats off to the chef because it was the quietest she’s ever been during a meal(thank you chef!). I had the bangers platter, with a grilled tomato and mushroom side which was so unbelievably well seasoned I almost took some home to try and deconstruct it. Even the coffee was decent, which seems to be asking too much from most of the breakfast joints in Litchfield county. Great experience.

Toymakers is a very unique place. I try to bring out of towners here for a breakfast experience. The owners(Indian MC fans) are great people offering delish original type fare. Alot of European style I think. You have to try the sweet potatoe waffles! Its a community type atmosphere so you may be sitting at one of their two large tables with a group of people. The characters you might meet range from artsy NYC types, motorcyclists, or slightly aromatic thru hikers from the Appalacian Trail. Fortunately there are a couple of picnic tables outside. Bring cash as they dont take plastic. Highly recommend Toymakers!

What a neat and funky place with terrific food and excellent service. We will definitely come back again! Breakfast is wonderful and so are the baked goods. You can even add to your Salt and Pepper collection, if that is what you like to do.

Always an excellent breakfast! I have stopped here many times when I’m in the area. I have also dragged a few friends along at different times and they have not been disappointed. The cinnamon butter waffles melt in your mouth and are worth every calorie, we split an order and I enjoyed my half order of eggs Benedict, another personal favorite. My friend ordered the strata and was very pleasantly surprised and raved about it. If you have the chance to go, don’t miss it! Excellent, lovely eclectic environment.

I hike a lot for work, and stopping at Toymakers before a hike ensures that I get a reasonably priced, filling, and delicious breakfast. So far I’ve enjoyed(in October) their apple cider doughnuts, sweet potato bacon waffles(they are amazing), and friends have had an omelet with veggies, and other things I can’t recall but were reported«delicious». Their house blend of coffee is very tasty as well. Great tea selection. I hope to make it back another morning for breakfast to try the Bangers and British breakfast. Thanks Toymakers!(Appalachian Trail supporter)

Great family run place to stop for an affordable, filling, breakfast or lunch. Baked goods are all excellent, coffee I enjoy as well, and as everyone has mentioned, they have killer waffles. But don’t stop there, the soups, sandwiches, and other breakfast items are all pretty good. Everything has a homemade, hearty feel to it. And bonus if you are a motorcycle person, especially vintage British stuff. Because that is the owners passion. Always cool bikes to check outside on nice days.

Labor Day weekend we stopped here for breakfast on our way to Buffalo for wingfest. This place was on the way and received many rave reviews from Unilocalers. I had never even heard of Falls Village prior to this visit. My boyfriend was sure it was going to be like remniscent of Deliverance. lol It was not. Granted if you didn’t know this place was here, you might blink and miss it. It looks like a typical house with a barn out back. Inside is pretty small, 2 big wood dining room tables and 2 two tops that were tiny. Inside looks like someones junk drawer exploded. Magazines, book exchange, vintage salt n pepper shakers for sale, etc. I have to say the food was way better than expected, Everyone raved but Ill admit I was skeptical. I had the hash brown platter and I was pretty freakin impressed. I can’t say I would bee line for this place, since it’s kinda out of the way. but if it’s on your way or just a little out of your way. it’s worth stopping.

Fluffernutter waffle? Sweet potato bacon waffle? Good stuff. Came out on the bikes and had a good time. It’s a hike but they’ll keep you full for the ride home.

Our Experience: We had the Moroccan Chicken Platter and a Ham Sandwich. The platter was absurdly good. Authentic, light, and loaded with flavor. My friend had the ham sammich and felt that it was on par with ham sandwiches he’s had elsewhere(not bad, nothing special). The setting is casual and basic. The staff are friendly and obviously of a small-town family. The Takeaway: An elderly gentleman behind the grill was their version of the short order cook. We nicknamed him Geppetto for the extreme care he took in making whatever he was working on: by way of example, he took about 20 minutes to make a ham sammich. As far as we could tell, he wasn’t making a particularly special sammich either. When it was time for the taste test, the 20 minutes the man had invested in putting together the darn thing were, without question, a result of our bad karma for doing something stupid elsewhere in life. We chalked it up to fate and left without any bad tastes in our mouth. If we have a lot of time on our hands, say about 5 weeks, when we next frequent Lakeville, we’ll stop by again — if for nothing more than to see Geppetto try to break his old record of sandwich composition.
