Until I get a nice size lobster role, all lobster joints or places that serve lobster rolls are getting no more then 3 stars. Too expensive with way too little meat. The lobster roll is good but skimpy on the meat.

A very pleasant joint, an oasis of freshness and New England classic foodgasmic lobster rolls, not something you’d find at your typical beach place,. In between swims and tanning sessions, grab yourself one of their rolls, with an iced cold beer. and sit at their sun soaked terrace, where some nice music grooves are blasting. Next summer, this will be in one of my to go spots, when hitting the beach :-)

A little on the smaller side, even for lobster roll standards but verrrryyyy tasty!

This was fantastic and refreshing. I only ordered the lobster roll sliders, of which I had three, but I really enjoyed them. Some places add a lot of extra sauce or mayonnaise in their lobster rolls, or add so many extra toppings and skimp on the lobster, but here they had an excellent balance. The lobster itself was great – juicy, sweet, and cool on a hot day. The rolls were toasted and buttery, which was a great combination of favors as it melted into the lobster meat. It had a perfect contrast of crunchiness with the raw vegetable toppings. While the sliders were small, they were filling. My meal came to $ 12 total which I thought was reasonable for the amount of food I received and the quality of lobster meat. I am intrigued by their stand and would like to investigate their larger restaurant at s later date. Like everywhere else in Rockaway Beach, the station is outdoors on picnic tables – good for small groups of friends, but many of us were comfortable eating by ourselves.

lobster rolls just the way i like them — buttery roll that leaves your fingers greasy and chunks of lobster with barely there mayo. ordering is efficient and while you’re waiting for your food(a la starbuck’s and five guys style), the neighboring menus of this food shack can become very tempting(arepas, asian, ice cream, fruit, ceviche, bbq). $ 16 for my lobster roll and pickle was fair, but the CASH only policy can be inconvenient. it looked like this food shack was closing once the lifeguards were no longer on duty(6pm on a summer weekend), but that meant the party was just getting started at the bar shack at the other end of the beach(around beach 88th st).

$ 16 and worth every LOBSTER bite! ORGASMIC! I visited Lobster joint after strolling the seaside food court trying to choose a stand with a shorter line and creative menu. The food court’s long lines were like a Michael Jackson concert for 4th of July weekend. I was stuck between arepas and cevicheria. I chose a Lobster roll. This was my 1st Lobster Roll. I loved every bite! Light on the mayo, fresh celery, TONS of FRESH lobster. I loved the fresh piece of lobster claw that was on my basket. Perfectly paired with a pickle! NOW!!! Let’s talk about THEROLL!!! This bread was soft like a pillow. CRISPY and toasted with butter to perfection! !!! This was a foodgasm at best. The staff is FAST and friendly. Your food is made when ordered. If you order the Lobster sliders, they are served on sweet Hawaiian rolls!!!

A great little place right on the beach! The lobster roll was tasty, and had a good ammount of lobster meat. I like the ammount of mayo on the lobster here. It’s more than Luke’s, but not as much as some of the city places like Mary’s which go way overboard when it comes to dressing the lobster. For me, $ 17 is not too bad for a lobster roll(since it’s usually $ 25 – 30 in the city.) Everyone was really friendly too. If you’re spending the day at the beach, LJ is a great option for lunch.

I’ve been dying to try a lobter roll at Lukes but one summer day I took a ride alll the way down crossbay and ended up here by the beach. I initally came for some fish tacos but the Lobster Roll caught my eye. So first of all its $ 17 and tiny. Its $ 2 for a bottle or water. So my total was $ 19 for the roll, chips, a pickle and water. I was kinda upset but whatever. It was good. i dont have anything to compare it to. Its great to give the business to these places but I wish I could do it without hurting my wallet. When I think about purchasing a «Taste of Maine» from Lukes for about $ 3 more and definitely more food I kinda regret it. Th kid at the counter forgot to give me my water and they also ran out of napkins, salt and pepper. I wouldnt do it again but If you have a craving and don’t mind paying. Go for it!

This was a super disappointment. My girlfriend is big on lobster rolls so we couldnt wait to try this out. I went and ordered it for her before she realized and once we received it we saw that there is barely any lobster. For $ 17 you can go to lukes and get a bigger portion. She said it was ok but we would definitely not go here again. The pictures on Unilocal no longer accurately represent what this roll looks like. My buddy got one afterwards and I think there was even less meat in it… Dissapointed.

I decided to try this place despite the reviews stating there wasn’t enough lobster on the roll. I am so glad I did! There was more than enough and it was good! I will be coming back. Beach ambiance with a real cool vibe. I’ll be back soon.

The lobster roll here was pretty good but it was more like a lobster salad with chunks of lobster added. The bun was toasted and buttered nicely and it came with a good bag of kettle cooked chips and a pickle. The mayo was light but there just wasn’t enough lobster. Maybe because I came here on the Sunday of July 4th weekend, but I’m not sure that $ 17 was justified for the amount that I got especially since the pictures posted here look amazing and overflowing. 5 other friends also got lobster rolls and it was the same deal. I would’ve just expected the lobster to at least reach the bottom of the bread. We spoke with the supervisor who said those were old pictures and they made the move to a pre-measured amount that is more cost effective and I hear that, just maybe it should look like it fills the bun or something because I can get a full hefty portion and chips at Luke’s lobster for $ 16 – 18 or when I go to Maine I can get a pound of fresh lobster on the lobster rolls with no added fillings for $ 17. Again, it’s pretty good and well made for the beach area, but there just isn’t enough lobster. Perhaps I’ll try this lobster joint again sometime and see how it goes.

Two stars for food. Got three rolls and all had shell in them. Plus there was a bit of a seafood smell to it –which fresh seafood should not have. Location is 5 star. But they seem to get by on that more than quality.

best beach food. we opted for three lobster sliders at $ 12 vs the lobster roll at $ 17. same things except you get cole slaw instead of potato chips. so much better then your average beach food. makes u feel like you are in New England not in the middle of queens. great lite option for a beach day!

I don’t know about anything else but that lobster roll was delicious! $ 17.00 and worth every penny. Buttery roll filled with sweet fresh lobster. I will be back.

I’ve had three lobster rolls since MDW. I think that says enough. Super fresh, and a nice buttery toasty bun. Also not too much mayo, with a generous portion. Friendly counter service also. Pairs perfectly with a beer from low tide and some sunshine.

After a 40-mile bike ride to Rockaway Beach, I was thrilled to see The Lobster Joint among the food boardwalk food trucks. I hadn’t enjoyed a Lobster Roll all Summer so this would be it! I’ve grown accustomed to lobster rolls that are more bun than meat and expected these would be no different. To my surprise, they were serving up perfectly buttered and toasted buns overstuffed with chunks of succulent lobster meat(I’m talking entire claws!) without a lot of mayo and the perfect amount of crunchy celery throughout. This could easily be one of the best lobster rolls I’ve ever had and a steal at $ 16. Oh, and if you like pickles(personally, I don’t), you’re in luck there too!

For $ 19, this is a mean combination: sandwich, pickle, drink, and chips. It is packed with righteous amounts of lobster meat. Cold, refreshing and delicious should be its name. I loved my lobster roll. It makes me want to venture out the Queens everytime I have a hankering of seafood in buttered bread. There is seating right underneath a random tarp to savor the goodies that you brought from the establishment. There was a kind gentleman who took my order and told me that unfortunately they do not accept credit card but never to fear there is an ATM right nearby here. There is ample seating on the beach as well as a few paces away on wooden picnic tables. It’s great! I am definitely revisiting this joint!

Some may say $ 16 is a bit pricey, but it really is the going rate in the NYC area for lobster rolls. Considering this place once charged $ 19, I’d say the consumer is winning. Lol. The lobster rolls themselves are very tasty. The classic rendering serves up light, fresh lobster salad atop a perfectly toasted and buttered frankfurter roll. That’s right, I said it. Frankfurter roll. The lobster salad is light on any mayo, but abundant with delicious chunks of fresh lobster. Can I squeeze the word lobster into this review one more time? Yes I can, if you are at Rockaway Beach, stroll over the Lobster Joint. You won’t be disappointed. The area offers other spots too… so you can pair your roll with a beer, onion rings, or even a tostada.

If a super-tender well-stuffed lobster roll on the beach is, like beer, proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy, than a meal at this food stand in the Rockaway Beach food court counts as a-goin’ churchin’. For $ 16 you get a traditional split-top bun, grilled and buttered and filled with lots of good sweet(ok maybe slightly underseasoned) claw meat, barely any mayo, and a big excellent full-sour pickle. The manager’s brother married a real sweetheart of a Peruvian girl, too.

Well, this was a disappointment. Went to Rockaway Beach for the first time and did a little Unilocal searching to find a place for a quick dinner. Lobster Joint showed up, and appeared to have great reviews, so went for it. Well, we were driving and let me just say that it’s hard as %^!!@# to find if you don’t know where it is. Literally had to call their Greenpoint location and ask directions. Finally arrived at the destination, starving, looking forward to a big juicy lobster roll. So much for that theory. After we decided on our order, we were told that they were out of lobster(uhh…okay…that’s like, well, Red Lobster saying they have no lobster. Or Luke’s Lobsters. Or Redhook Lobster Pound. It just SHOULDN’T HAPPEN). So we order one shrimp and one crab roll… The smell(when we were eventually called, 10 minutes later) was disgusting. The seasoning was over done. We couldn’t even eat them. Ended up just eating the bread since that was the only non-stomach-turning part of the meal. Oh, and the pickles. Maybe cause it was almost 6pm. Maybe the shrimp and crab had been sitting out for a while. No matter the case, they shouldn’t have served the food we were given. Period. It was rancid. Basically the only reason I haven’t given one star is because I’m giving them the benefit of the doubt and hoping that if/when I get to try their lobster roll, they’ll redeem themselves. Shoulda gotten pizza from Donkey Punch next door…
