I had an interesting experience at borrowed bucks last night for the first time in quite a while I had went to the bar I don’t drink but I had a server that I was watching my own server was ok but really nothing special dressed all sexy and trying to get tips which is ok and typical of a server at that kind of a bar but the one that stood out to me the most her name was Kim and wow she showed Hussle she was very careful of customers very conscious of where she was and unbelievably skilled as a server very much enjoyed my experience specifically because of Kim

While I don’t get to Borrowed Bucks as much these days, I am always impressed with facility in their ample seating, multiple drink/bar stations, and how well kept up the building is. The ownership group that runs Bucks designs and takes care of their businesses so well. Additional nice features include a coat check which is handy in the colder months, a gaming area if you’re into that and an area with several pool tables and dart boards. I’m not much into dancing but I think their large dance floor in the center of the bar is a draw for many patrons. And while I generally enjoy heading downtown for that scene, Borrowed Bucks is located in a rather central area of Fargo, just off of 13th Ave. With all the seating, it’s a nice place to hang and visit, mostly prior to it getting busy. After that, between the music and patrons having a good time, the place can get a bit loud as the night wears on. From that point, you may visit less and just spend more time people watching.

Best thing: 50 cent taps on Wednesday Worst thing: pretty much everything else I’ve been there once and probably won’t be going back. I went around 9 on a Wednesday for 50 cent taps. I get there and it’s not too busy, didn’t understand why the place had such a bad rap. The music was really loud, but that’s not uncommon for a bar with a dance floor. Get my first drinks and almost drop them because of a VERYLOUD air horn that went off. No rhyme or reason behind it, I thought there was a fire or something but no, they just do that. Between 9 – 11 it wasn’t the worst place, but after that it turned into a drunken shitshow, mostly the male patrons yelling rude and inappropriate things and waitresses and female patrons. Add that to the place getting packed and it’s definitely not worth it. I left around 11:30 probably. I personally could not handle that place. At least the bathrooms were nice.

I enjoy a rowdy(and somewhat cheesy) good time, so this was one of my favorite places. I haven’t been there for a while now since I moved out of state, but I still hold some very fond memories and hope someday to find a similar place near me. It has something for everyone — pool tables, dart boards and even air hockey, spread around the areas and room surrounding the dance floor. When you walk in the main entrance, you are greeted by a beer cart where you can get your favorite bottle right away, served in a paper bag. Go on in and get settled around your favorite activity — the test tube shots will be around before long. Toss it back, throw it on the ground, and stomp! Grab a bag of peanuts or popcorn to snack and if the cash starts to run low, try your luck at the black jack tables… maybe you’ll win another round or two. Of course, my favorite was country nights, but the DJ’s there play all sorts of music — weekends were usually country to start, and then switched to top 40/dance. I miss you Borrowed Bucks! Y’all go and have a great time there for me :)

«C’mon down to Bucks»(That’s the theme song!) Bucks used to be THESPOT when I turned 21, which was about ten years ago now. And surprisingly, when I was home this last summer it seems the crowd had returned and it was a cool place to be again. I always liked the vibe of Bucks. Occasionally, you have your fair-share of 21-year olds that could kill the vibe anywhere but it seems to be a mid-20’s-mid-30’s bar and the nice thing is that everyone seems to get along. There’s a casino area with blackjack and pulltabs and a couple bars upstairs and plenty of cocktail waitresses to keep your night moving along. There’s a little dance floor in the middle of all the action and the music is usually a pretty good mix of everything. Thankfully it’s not strictly a country bar but they play enough country to make it fun and so little rap that it makes the bar enjoyable. They seem to always play Alabama’s «Mountain Music» which is great because I like to air fiddle across the dance floor when I’m there. Bucks is a fun place. I will definitely stop back next time I’m home.

This is a pretty fun bar with a lot of space and an energetic, young crowd — even on weeknights. It’s definitely a college drinking atmosphere, so if that’s not your thing(or if you’re over 35) don’t even bother. The drinks are cheap and the staff is friendly, and the DJs are always making sure patrons have a good time. Some attractive ladies definitely come here, so keep that in mind. My chief complaint is that they do NOT play enough country to call themselves a country bar. It’s at least half pop… and even some hip hop. I’m okay with a little pop or top 40 stuff interspersed with my country(especially at a younger place like this. I get it.) But when you abruptly transition from Boot Scootin’ Boogie to something by Notorious BIG, you lose me. I’m excited to try out Cadillac Ranch this Thursday, I hope it will be a more authentic country experience.

The only reason I’ll go to Bucks is because my friends are going. Then, only on nights with great drink specials. I need to get drunk enough to not hate myself for being at a white-trash country dance bar. If you still have all of your teeth and have never shot an animal from a pick-up, then this might not be the place for you. It might have been better if there had at least been some attractive people in the crowd. Just trashy college kids and country bumpkins as far as the eye can see. There was a coat check, seemingly the only one in Fargo, so it still gets two stars.

My memories of this place involved having my id to get in denied, and then(after getting my passport) just sitting inside, with lousy music playing, and low quality drinks being drunk. In fact, I remember the drinks coming in test tubes. Yipee.
