A last minute dinner and a good choice. Pub-y but with a nice menu and lots of choices. The tiny table they had available(without a wait) was sticky and wobbly. They sort of took care of that so we just put down big cloth napkins. I had the fish tacos — very tasty but by the third the sauce was a bit too rich. Otherwise good. French onion soup was excellent, however. Right up there with the best we’ve had. My wife had the steak sandwich which was good although not as remarkable. Nice room with huge high ceiling. The bar was very big. I had the local beer of the day and it was very good. All in all, a nice meal and worth checking out.

I have started to dislike this place. At first, I started going with my boyfriend because he likes the burgers. However, we keep having one bad experience after the other. It is so hard to get a table Tuesdays nights. The hostess always says that we have to wait 30 minutes. I have to say that the staff is very friendly. However, I don’t like the taste of the food at all. I feel that this is just another«American» restaurant. It is nothing crazy. Last week, I order the shrimp tacos. The tortillas looked burned, and the tacos smelled like garbage. I ate one, but I couldn’t eat the rest. After this experience, I don’t want to step in there again. I feel that their food is all pre made, and nothing is really original.

I recently visited the Library Café and was pleasantly surprised! Well, I was only surprised because when my parents told me we were going to the«Library,» I envisioned a place full of books! But, it turned out to be a great restaurant! I totally recommend this place to everyone, even kids! My appetizer of buffalo wings were outstanding. My mouth did not burn, they were not drowned in sauce, yet they still were crunchy and hot. Also, from their kids menu, I ordered the cheeseburger and was very impressed, although the burger was a bit tiny for my liking! I also have to include that I thought the ladder in the bar was super cool!:)

Bootleg Tanqueray! My husband have a Tanqueray martini straight up with no vermouth every night before dinner. We certainly know what it tastes like. We were served cheap gin that tasted like perfume. When brought to the attention of our our waitress, she insisted that it was Tanqueray as Tanqueray is the house gin. The bottle may be a Tanqueray bottle, but for certain, its contents were NOT! Marsha Volini

Disappointed in the service, our waitress was not at all attentive but once we got closer to the finishing our meal, she was checking up on us every 2 minutes, I guess she wanted us out of there. I was surprised to see guava juice in one of the specialty cocktails and asked for just the guava juice, none of the alcohol and told her to charge me the full price of the cocktail even though I did not want any alcohol. She came back with half a martini glass filled with guava juice, then when I asked for a second, she said they did not have anymore. I asked for a mango juice, or peach nectar juice, which she said was available and was clearly on the menu, but later said that wasn’t available either… basically she was lazy and didn’t want to go behind the bar to get it. The food was a 5 out of 10. The atmosphere was great. Oh and they don’t carry bottled water!!! is that crazy???

Food is good, it is a pub. Love the atmosphere, since I’m a book nerd. Overall, good place to chill with friends. There was an issue with billing, in regards to a party I had here, last year. But, overall was happy with food and service.

I have to love it when the wine list has your favorite bottle of Malbec. I was here on a Thursday night. There was an acoustic singer. He passed us the song list. It was about 6 pages long. Mumford & Sons, lots of classic rock, new music. So I chose Danzig, Mother just to see how it would sound acoustically. This guy was great. Definitely going back.

Seem to have taken a slide. Good needs some seasoning and the menu needs a shake up The staff are always very friendly and attentive and address any issues swiftly and without incident.

Been wanting to try brunch here for a while; unfortunately we were disappointed. We waited 20 minutes at the door unacknowledged for a table. Then it looked like a manager walked in and suddenly a waiter literally ran to us to seat us. So we start with complimentary mimosas and mini bagels and Danish that were really hot we had to wait to eat them, not too bad yet. Then they bring out a big silver platter of eggs, French toast, bacon, sausage, home fries and the food is barely Luke warm. We didn’t see our waiter for a long time, so we couldn’t get hot food. So I order a martini and ask for the check; 20 minutes later still no drink or check. I went and got the waiter, he didn’t charge us for the drink since it took so long. Manager was friendly, I mentioned the food was cold and his response was you should have told your waiter; well we couldn’t find him for an hour! Lol anyway, we probably will not return…

The place looks great, they have a good selection of beers and the service was good but the food was just okay. I had the burger while others in my party had the pulled pork, shrimp tacos and French onion soup and we all felt the same …

Gorgeous, gorgeous restaurant. As a booknerd, I wholly approve of their theme(I think they used to be a library?) I came here for drinks at the bar, and ordered the Around the World flight. A glass of Guinness, Stella Artois and Young’s Banana Bread. I really just wanted to try the Banana Bread beer. The Guinness tasted off, this must be one of those spots where Guinness isn’t stored in its ‘proper way.’ But I am not a Guinness connoisseur and cannot tell for sure. It just tasted off to me. The Stella was fine as Stella always is, but the Banana Bread really did taste like its solid counterpart. At least, it was the first and last taste. The bar/restaurant was hosting a bridal shower as well I think, but for being right behind us, you wouldn’t have known. Also, as someone who only a few years ago got over her fear of height(still don’t like ladders), I really want to see the bartenders climb. Perhaps– part sadism or curiosity– but it’s definitely a unique quality to the bar. I would love to return and sample of their bites and their list of local/national/and interntaional beers.

This is a very reliable pub/restaurant/bar in downtown Farmingdale. We’ve been here several times and the food is good. Not fabulous but reliable. The bar is attractive and very busy. The noise level can be an issue when the games are on.

Went there on New Year’s Day for dinner. Was awful it literally took them an hour to get out food out of the kitchen. Waitress apologized twice for the wait. Nothing complicated my Patty Melt was awful rye bread not toasted, fries were cooked but still hard not cooked enough. Not going back. If they were short staffed they should have been closed or at least warned you of the long wait but no excuse for crappy food

Prices are expensive for the amount of food they give. The night we ate there our food was served cold and undercooked. The theme of the place and the decorating is great, but the food needs work.

After coming back from Schmitts Farm for a Halloween night at the haunted corn maze, me and my SO came here for a drink. We didn’t feel like standing on our feet so we requested a table. They require you to order food if you’re going to take up table space, which is understandable, so we ordered the loaded tot appetizer. It was okay but they went very heavy on the sour cream and nacho cheese and light on the bacon bits and other seasonings. I could have easily made this dish at home. Perfect amount of grease to go along with a beer though. Aside from that, alls I can say is, boy is this place LOUD!!! I had to move over to the other side of the booth just to have a conversation. It was a little ridiculous, yet again I don’t really think this is a place where you should expect to have a quiet, intimate conversation. Next time I’d probably choose a quieter bar to sit, have a drink and relax.

Stopping in for lunch and approaching the bar for a menu was a bit of a surprise… it was the exact same menu of a place we just ate at a week prior, The Post Office café… This company owns just under a dozen places and the menu is shared by about 3 or 4 of them. There are some good finds on the menu but nothing out of this world. The atmosphere of the Library, was just that… library-ish, only loud, and not many good reads, and um, they have food… oh well, they tried. I don’t feel the need to return as the Post Office café was cuter, flashier, had better service, and has an identical menu.

I have been wanting to try this place for years. But it was always too far to drive out to. Now that my BF lives in Farmingdale and is walking distance from the awesome Main St., we decided to go. I enjoyed the whole feel of the place. We sat at the bar, which is very long and there is plenty of room for everyone. I am not even sure how tall the ceiling is but they have a ladder that they climb in order to get the alcohol… the higher the alcohol the more expensive it is LOL That night I went for a martini… The Notebook and it was delish. I really love coconut and would probably get anything on the menu that has coconut so I went with this drink. It was sweet, not going to lie, but yummy. I loved that they provide you a super little cute carafe in an ice filled glass. I am a «sipper» lol so my drinks always get warm. Well, not here! My drink was cold until I was done. We didn’t go with dinner choices but instead got a few appz. We decided on the calamari, little Ruben sandwiches, boneless chicken, and tuna. Everything was great. Calamari maybe a little too doused with the sauce but otherwise well cooked. I am definitely going to go back because I want to try other drinks as well as the french onion soup that I kept seeing everyone get :) MMM cheese!

Great spot, a sister of Post Office in Babylon. The food is more or less the same. Pro: Great dessert martinis like caramel and chocolate, all named after authors, of course. The bar is very cool, with bottles arranged in shelves all the way up to the ceiling. The bartenders climb a ladder to get the good stuff. It reminds me of the beginning of Beauty and Beast(yes I am a child). Con: Narrow bar that is usually crowded and it’s awkward to push past people to get to the bathroom Pro: Steak is tasty, as is the spinach dip. They’re definitely my favorite of Library’s food offerings. Waffle fries are bland though. Con: Very crowded almost every time I come here, but I guess that goes to show how good it is. They have live music here and there, and I really don’t like live music unless I pay to go to a show. However, local artists need to get their start somewhere, so keep that in mind if you want a quiet, intimate meal. I heard they have brunch here, but I’ve never had the chance to check it out.

Three words… Wine Down Wednesday. It gets packed but there isn’t a better deal in Farmingdale Village on a Wednesday. Half price bottles and glasses. Order an app and sit at the bar. The food is ok, nothing to get excited about. I’ve had both hits and misses. The décor is fun, its a nice place to just be in, love the full bar that drips down the wall. If you’re a showy person come here and order the highest liquor on the shelf and watch the bartenders scale the ladder, Belle style, to fetch it for you. Service has always been great from my experience. I would rate it four stars if the food was better.

I have been coming to the Library café for years. My fiancé has always been fond of this place, and its rubbed off on me. The food is usually very good. The Southwestern spring rolls are a delicious appetizer. I personally like those better than the sloppy Joe sliders and the pretzel bites. For a meal the Chicken Bruschetta and skirt steaks are always on point, as are the thick and tasty burgers. But the food isn’t the only good thing here. The atmosphere is quite enjoyable too. Since this place used to be a library, it has that interesting and unique mystique. The ladder for the high end liquors is also another differentiation from other locations. Lastly the live music on Thursday nights is a blast. Rob the guitar guy(and singer), does an incredible job of belting out songs and interacting with the audience. Often times we come just to hear him play, as do some of the other Thursday night regulars. Truly a great spot for local dining and drinking with friends.

This place is okay. The service was fine and the carousel horses in the windows are cute but the food is nothing to write home about. I got the Bistro Burger, which comes with arugula, pesto aioli, blue cheese, and bacon. This burger also came with waffle fries. The burger was fine but I think the fries were the blandest I’ve ever had. Be sure to put lots of pepper and ketchup on them if you want to have some sort of flavor in your mouth. The other people at my table seemed to like their food, though. I’ve also had the Chorizo Tacos. Maybe it should have occurred to me that a place like this probably would not make good tacos but these were the weirdest tasting tacos I’ve ever had. The tacos came with chorizo sausage, pepper jack, and corn tortillas. The reason why they’re the weirdest tacos I’ve ever had is because the meat was sweet! I don’t want my chorizo to be sweet, I want it to be spicy and savory. I’m thinking that they made it sweet because they thought that people would like it more if it was sweeter but it grossed me out. I don’t think this place is bad but when there are so many nice looking restaurants on the same street as this one I can’t imagine choosing to come back here over trying one of the other restaurants in the area.

Came here again this past Friday right before Valentine’s Day with 4 people. When we walked inside what seemed to be the hostess and maybe a manager were speaking to each other for a good 5 minutes before even acknowledging us standing next to the freezing cold door that kept opening and shutting, a quick«we’ll be with you in one minute» would have been okay! They offered a special Valentine’s Day menu. We weren’t here for Valentine’s Day but I was super excited about the menu. I ordered Rigatoni stuffed with Lobster with roma tomatos and olive oil garlic $ 24 — um can we talk about how amazing this sounds! When it came out I couldn’t wait to try it… I wasn’t disappointed with the fact that there was no lobster on top, for $ 24 I wasn’t expecting that but I was expecting maybe some flavor of lobster in the rigatoni — there was NONE. My husband even tried it not knowing what it was and had no idea it was«stuffed with lobster» A total rip off! I don’t think I’ll be visiting anytime soon for anything other than a sandwich.
