Portobello Pizzeria

Finding zeppoles on the island is hard! This place always make them fresh for you… And they’re amazing! Haven’t tried their pizza but their spaghetti and meatballs are delicious! Has that homemade feel to it. Always friendly and the prices are a fraction of what you’d spend at a Gino’s.

I stopped in for a quick slice of pizza. The place looked clean and there was a nice selection of slices to pick from. I had a grandma slice, which was really good. Crist was thin and crispy. Sauce was good with bits of garlic. Just the right amount of cheese. I’ll go back to try some other items.

I absolutely love the flounder francese. The pizza is great. The only thing I dislike about this place is the parking lot. Fortunately they deliver.

we chose this place for dinner on a sunday night and now me my sister and mom all have food poisoning. we noticed it was probably from their chicken. i assume they dont get new produce every week. thats nasty. their regular pizza is great but when i asked for a chicken parm slice it looked like they just put 5 pieces of chicken cutlet on a regular slice of pizza. no effort at all AND they took forever with our order. they said 25 min we didnt get it for almost an hour. idk who would rate this 5 stars i guess its because u never tried their salmonella chicken. what a waste of food i hope they go out of business. the elderly cranky owner needs to give up if hes too senile to forget getting new chicken for the week. rather would save his money than lose business and give stomache poisoning to his customers. Definitly not worth my time. i dont think id appreciate getting another stomach bug with a 102 fever no way. NEVER COMING BACK HERE AGAIN.

There’s always coupons for this place, so I gave it a try. I think the pizza is ok, but definitely heavy on the cheese and is closer to like college cafeteria pizza than pizzeria pizza. I didn’t love it. I did pick it up on time and it was hot, so their timing is pretty good. I have not returned in the months since I got it, as there are better pizza options in Farmingdale.

If you like extra cheese than this is the place for you! I’ve eaten here a few times and the pizza is conistant. Have not yet tried anything else.

This was my first time going here. We order out 2 – 3 nights a week and wanted to try a new place. I ordered a special for pizza, pasta n garlic knots. The pizza and pasta was ok. But wheres the garlic knots? I asked at the counter when i picked it up and was rudely told they were in the bag… which they were not. Not the worst thing in the world but enough to make me go back down the street to Vincent’s

Great thin crust Pizza, heroes, pasta and the usual pizza menu. Very similar to Gino’s, my favorite chain. Super nice owner and they deliver and cater. They even have coupons in local papers with great combos at fair prices. Ordered delivery special once, and the owner delivered it himself, not to make us wait. Very nice hometown feel. Only open about a year or so. Replaced Taormina pizzeria which was there for years that had lousy pizza (2 stars) Very happy these guys have moved in.

They are good food, fresh good eggplant parm heros, would like a menu on line for delivery or pick up.

Well pizza is good but I love the heroes, eggplant Parma, potatoes and eggs, chicken Parma, all are amazing.
The put just the right amount of sauce on the eggplant and chicken heroes so as to not make the bread soggy. Great flavor, nice people and they will remember you.

So I was looking for a new place to get some take out from and I checked out Unilocal for ideas. I know there are about a million pizza places in the area, so I figured some reviews could steer me in the right direction. I stumbled upon Portobello with their announcement about new management. When I put the address in I realized it was what used to be Taormino or something like that. That place sucked, so I was a little worried about what I was getting myself into.
I ordered Veal Parmigiana for the wife, Chicken Sorrentino for myself, and a pizza for the kids. I’ll start with the Veal, it was actually really good. I’m personally not a big fan of veal because if it isn’t good quality or made just right it can be tough. But this was done right. Tomato sauce was really good too. The chicken sorrentino was also really good. I really like the mix of flavors with chicken, eggplant, proscuitto, and a light marinara sauce (I think that’s what they call it anyway). It was real tasty either way. The pizza was pretty good. I mean, it is hard for me to be wowed by pizza unless it comes from a brick oven, but I thought it was right on par with any other good pizza.
The place looks like it used to, it could use some updating but honestly, I don’t really care that much as long as the food is good. I’m using it for takeout, not to take a date there.
Everyone was really friendly, the owner is kind of what you’d expect from a takeout place around here, an old italian guy who kind of reminds you of your grumpy grandpa, but he’s actually really nice once you get to talking to him. Apparently they used to own another pizza place in Massapequa so that’s probably why they seem to know what they’re doing.
Anyway, overall, I was really happy with the food and the price. They deliver too, so that will save me some effort in the future…
