Ginopolis Restaurant is an affordably priced restaurant. It appears to be especially popular with seniors since they comprised most of the diners present on our visit. The food was decent, but not great; however, it was very reasonably priced. On the Friday evening we were there, they had a menu of 3 course dinner specials which included soup or salad, an entrée, and a dessert. I had the Steak Diana and my wife had the St. Louis Rub Ribs. We both thought the meals were OK. Our waitress was attentive and not overbearing. If you’re looking for a value meal, give Ginopolis Restaurant a try.

Pros: Top-notch hospitality, large menu, very good food, decent service, ample parking, aggressive«e-club» deals. Cons: Dated atmosphere. Revisited Ginopolis last night with the Hot Blond Wife and one of our kids and was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the overall experience. Requested a booth — got a booth. Then we enjoyed cocktails, appetizers and small entrees. The service was good but what was really impressive was the fact that Peter Ginopolis was engaging his patrons with a sincere concern for their well being. When’s the last time a restaurant owner walked around his or her place getting feedback from customers? Sure, this place is a little old fashioned and does appeal to the 60+ group, but sometimes old fashioned is the way to go. And the gyros are excellent!

This is the restaurant I’ve been looking for! It feels very intimate in there and the food is fresh. I highly recommend the veg pizza, it’s handmade, can feed two for a good price and in my opinion can go toe to toe with any other pizza in town.

I came by here for a salad and a beer after visiting the nearby gym Was not disappointed. This place is a rare find these days — a surviving family-owned, nice but not pretentious restaurant and bar I instantly loved the atmosphere, as I was enthusiastically greeted by a guy who was probably the owner, and went to a bar that was just a tad divey — but in a pleasant, relaxing sort of way The food was great, I got some brisket on a salad. Protein and green stuff, it was tasty. Beer selection was fantastic for a normal restaurant, no hop cat, but a lot better than Bud and Bud Lite Okay, this next part is totally off the wall, but I loved it: I found myself looking at the neon lights they had all over and was impressed by this, as just earlier in the day I had listened to a podcast of «99% Invisible» all about the art of neon lights, and how if they are custom and not mass-produced(as clearly these are custom) they are always painstakingly hand-crafted by local artists, usually at great expense, so most businesses have to give in and buy LED as it’s cheaper. Not this place, though! A great tie-in with my morning podcast. Now that’s something you won’t get at Applebee’s.

Walked out after our group was seated and no one came to say hello or anything. 15 min when not busy and not even a drunk order. Wasn’t busy and staff seemed to be to busy socializing. See why other reviews are what they are are. Shame is to be solid place but below average now

Very good ribs! Owner Is friendly and visits the tables. Interior is kinda dated. So much better than slows. Don’t listen to negative reviews

Ginopolis is a BBQ stop in the Greater Detroit Area. The place itself has the look of an old family restaurant with a giant bar in the middle to boot. The dining room is absolutely huge, but the place was not very busy, so it just looked pretty empty. The menu has all the offerings of BBQ with some other items as well. My group tried out some of their ribs and brisket and got some mac and cheese to pair with it. Also got a side of sweet potato mash because who doesnt love that. The black bean soup and the jambalaya was another nice app that my buddies had opted for. The brisket were rather dry, but with the sauce, tasted fine. The mac and cheese was probably the best thing they had as it was real good. Place looked pretty old so it could use a bit of an update. The service was good and though there is definitely better BBQ around, the food was still fairly decent.

Went in for a little BBQ, and was not disappointed. Saint Louis style ribs were smoked and seasoned good, and sides of beans and baked mac and cheese did not disappoint. Brisket had good taste, however served wet, which is not my Fav way but it was not a disappointment to the meal. Bread pudding for desert was great, and overall the meal was presented and served well. Mr G stopped by to make sure all was good, and that’s a nice touch.

Awesome food, great people. Ribs are always great but the Lasagna is probably my favorite new dish to try. Incredible! Always make you feel welcome. Great place to take friends and family

I often suggest new places to go to with my friends and usually my suggestions are good ones and my friends count on me for them. That said, to this day I still get made fun of for suggesting we go to Ginopilis for bbq. It was terrible. If you’re looking for anything like Slow’s or Union Woodshop, don’t bother with Ginopolis. It’s not a bbq place. Period.

I too, went to this restaurant with the hope of liking it. No such luck. We were a party of eight and everyone was disappointed. It was flavorless and dry. Why doesn’t the owner see this? Doesn’t he read Unilocal?Someone needs to point Unilocal out to him. Service was slow also, even getting water. Get this; we had a Groupon and a birthday coupon for free appie or dessert. Waitress said we could use both. We could not after getting the bill. We asked for manager. He wasn’t there… on a Saturday night mind you. We were told we could speak to asst mgr. we watched our waitress go over to hostess, about 75 years old and not very friendly, then waitress came back and said, «The asst mgr is busy.» We asked if that woman, the hostess, was asst mgr. Yes she replied. Busy just standing there? She refused to come talk to us. What is that about? Also, I’m on their email list. Lately, I guess to draw up business, they offer happy hour; $ 1.00 off drinks and appies. Really? A whole dollar? You need a happy hour menu with unbelievable deals to draw us all in. Not $ 1.00 off. Someone PLEASE talk to the owners; change what you are doing because it isn’t working… or close your doors.

I was so hyped to try these ribs for a while and finally did. Used to love this place before the rib focus change. I will not be eating the ribs again. I found nothing positive to say about them. Which speaks volumes. Nothing more to see here. Move along :) They used to hve superb rack of lamb but I doubt it is still as good if even on the menu anymore.

We had not been to Ginopolis’ for some time so this was a real treat. They are still a very strong 3 star. We started with Saganaki and it was good, but they don’t fire it at your table — boo. I then ordered the blackened catfish and ribs combo and they were excellent My wife got the crab cakes and liked them. Two of our guests got the brisket and were a little disappointed – too chewy. My son got the mac & cheese and said it was ok. My rate alone would have been a 4, but with others input I decided on a 3. Server 244 did a 5star job.

Went here a few times for drinks and food but will not return. First time we went there in the 6 – 7 pm time frame, sat at the bar, felt like a nice gentleman’s bar with a nice bartender wearing a tie. Yes its old and musky inside. 2nd time, same time frame but this time the bartender was an old lady that appeared to be in her 70’s or later at the bar. Ordered a Remy Brandy from the bottles behind the bar, it came with 3 – 4 fruit flies in it that the bartender didn’t notice. I also tried both ribs they offer as the house specialty. Nothing to write home about. It’s definitely a place for the older crowd as in over 65.

Food is flavorless and blah. Had the salmon ceaser salad and the salmon and it was dry. Boy had bbq chicken sandwich and I was very dry… nothing to talk about. House chips tasted like dry cardboard. Place was probably popping back in the day by the looks of their old photos. Smells like a dirty bleach rag. Sad I wasted $ 40. Oh… tge artichokes. .tasted like vinegar. .is anything fresh. With no one in this place… hot food would have been nice. Ewe!

If you’re in the mood for great BBQ, DON’T EATHERE! Ribs were dry, and very overpriced. Seriously, $ 25 a slab and TINY… which was OK, because they were lousy. I don’t know how this place has been in business for so long. Service was so-so, the atmosphere was dismal, and if you want to taste the food, just print out this page and eat it.

I should have know when we walked in at lunch and this place was empty. Then the waitress recommend we don’t order the brisket, thats not good. I ordered the pulled pork sandwich and couldn’t take more then a few bites, it had a stinky old smell and taste. The service seemed good, maybe it was just an off day.
