Used to love this place but that changed today, order corned beef and it was the worst I had in a long time, I’m not a picky eater but it was more fat then meat on my plate… Won’t be back in a while

This is about the restaurant as an entity. Disregard for food and drink. My scarf from Nordstrom was left and then recovered by someone that answered the phone. Described to a «T» and said they would put aside in safe place until I could retrieve as I don’t live in the area. FF — I go there several times to find place closed — Sometimes early– and then when in area at a time they were open– scarf which had been located and put away safely — is now MIA and no one can locate. Not safe in the office isn’t good. Missing or stolen after being found, not a good thing. Employees not accountable– not a good thing. Thumbs down If you accidentally leave something there, it’s gone.

Favorite brunch spot in Michigan hands down. I will come here every day each time I’m back in the mitten! The grits and banana coffee are my favorite. Get the banana coffee ground to make at home. I take it all the way back to New York with me!

Ambience: Low. Its a tiny place, with tables very close together. U can hear other conversations. Wait staff: pleasant, friendly. Food: Great. Creative, yet hearty. They have some interesting varieties/herbs and everything tastes great. You shouldn’t leave hungry and its well priced. Note: To be totally perfect in the food category, Id have a more bold coffee and maybe a mild choice also.

Great food and amazing atmosphere! Toast is extremely busy for breakfast/brunch. Personally, I wouldn’t wait longer then 15 minutes to be seated — just be sure to go another day! I have been there a few times now, but still struggling to receive good service. The servers are usually nowhere to be found when I’m looking for them… a little odd but I guess that is normal there. The food is good — give it a try!

I have been to this place a couple of times. They have a great atmosphere even though it’s a little small. I have had their pancakes twice with the veggie sausage. I always order the pancakes with the real maple syrup. I would rate their pancakes a 5. I had their omelette with pepper jack and veggies… very good. They have a variety of cheeses for the omelettes, the grits are good and so are the red potatoes if you choose them. They are known for their toast and the have a variety of different toasts that come with their meals. The blueberry muffin was what I choose for my toast it was great. The wait can get long but that’s to be expected if the resturant is good. Try the banana coffee it’s good.

When we pulled up here, we were able to get a spot right in front, so I was immediately happy already. There was a line outside, but the lady directing us was so sweet and the wait was not even as long as I thought considering how small this place is. I love the way that they designed it, but it would be nice if it was a little bit bigger. It made the place seem more like home, though. The waiter was so nice and attentive. We ordered 2 of their iced coffees which were incredible. Then we both decided, per the waiters advice, to try eggs Benedict for the first time. If you go here. I highly recommend the eggs Benedict that has chorizo in it; it was amazing. I definitely plan on returning. Awesome breakfast spot.

Total awesomeness on a plate. The service was amazing, friendly and prompt. The Bloody Mary’s are to die for. Just enough spice and you can add BACON!!! I had the savory waffle… Dearborn ham and cheese was baked inside. My husband had the Chicken and waffle Benny. I don’t even like poached eggs and it was really good.

Bad experience here today! We were rushed out the restaurant which was so rude! Never going back to the ferndale location just Birmingham from now on! The situation: my party and I waited and hour and 20 minutes roughly to be sat which is fine and normal for a Sunday morning. We needed to catch up anyway. We were sat and the waitress seemed annoyed from the beginning but we continued on with our meal. 40 mi Utes into our meal the hostess asked us how long we were going to be because there was a table of 9 waiting. How inappropriate is that. We spoke to the manager and she was just as inappropriate about the situation and said that yes she has people waiting. But remember we waited as well. We were not done. Long story short they sent one of the patrons from the party that was waiting over to our table to ask us how long we were going to be. Another inappropriate situation. Also the patrons were all black just like our table. The staff kept pointing at our table and trying to rush us out and the manager came over and cussed at us and we just walked out eventually! I have spent so much money at this location and to be treated with such disrespect is so disappointing. There’s more but I think I’ve typed enough… Jennifer the manager is too rough around the edges to be a manager she sucks and she’s slightly racist! She tried to put black patrons against one another but it didn’t work sorry. Channel 4 is going to hear about this

Solid place for breakfast/brunch I tried the corned beef hash and the pumpkin pancakes. both were very good they make their corned beef in house so it’s not made with that canned crap. i just wished the potatoes were more crisp and more like hashbrowns than boiled wedges of potatoes. the pumpkin pancakes were not overly sweet and the jam and the cream made it extra delicious the banana coffee was nothing special but it wasn’t bad. just a flavored coffee. service was kind of slow

Most uncomfortable chairs EVER. The breakfast burrito was great. It was the charging for extra salsa that was off-putting. Then the extra charge for my friends potatoes after being asked if he wanted onions and peppers in them. Then the tiny glass of OJ for the big price. This nickel and diming rubs this fatty the wrong way. Maybe once I forget why I won’t go back may let me go back. It is going to be a while though.

Love the décor and the food! Everything on the menu looks delicious and everything we tried was. The mushroom omelet was packed with mushrooms and cheese. The Petoskey was surprisingly awesome. I have never had dried cherries in an omelet before and it was delicious with the bacon and the cheese. The cheesy grits and the homestyle potatoes were great sides. The best savory breakfast item was the huevos rancheros. Definitely get that if you are thinking about it. The B Street french toast was pretty great as well. The bread is deep fried and covered with bacon pieces, banana slices, and powdered sugar. Overall, the breakfast is FANTASTIC. The food is delicious and the service was great. The bathrooms were a great topic of discussion because they are not clearly marked with male and female markers. When I am back in Michigan, I am definitely making a stop in Ferndale to get me some Toast for breakfast!

delicious brunch spot! our party of five came here on a saturday afternoon. we were told the wait was about 15 minutes so we waited outside. after about ten minutes we were sat. the place is very cute and cozy, especially for a brunch date! the service here was exceptional! i can’t remember our server’s name(i’m terrible with remembering names) but he was great. he made sure to point out their specials for the day, and gave us plenty of time to make our decisions. i decided to order the two egg breakfast with bacon, and a biscuit with gravy on the side(love that they have this as a side option!) and for the toast selection, i chose the cinnamon challah bread. the cinnamon challah was freakin’ amazing, i finished all 4 pieces! it was nice and soft and toasty in all the right places! you didn’t even need jam for it. however if you do, they provide you with a selection of different flavors of jam at your table. the other folks in my party had the B-street French toast and omelettes! everyone enjoyed their food as much as i did. the biscuits and gravy were delicious as well, the gravy is homemade with nice pieces of delicious sausage throughout. i wasn’t a fan of the sausage because they were not crumbled enough for my liking, but it was still tasty! i will definitely be back, everyone here is so nice and very helpful.

I absolutely love Toast. I had an omelette: beet goes on with roasted beets, goat cheese, caramelized onions, arugula, orange balsamic reduction. It was absolutely delicious. I went on Mother’s Day with my parents and we were seated exceptionally fast even though they had a wait. I have to give a major shout out to Toast on their BACON. It is BYFAR the best bacon I have ever had in my entire life. That is all. Check it out.

YUM! I came here for brunch with a friend Saturday morning, I had been to the Birmingham location before but never have eaten here at the Ferndale location. They were able to seat us right away which was fantastic because I was starving. The chicken & waffles were BOMB. I have lived in Atlanta where they know how to make southern food and what I had at Toast definitely reminded me of that. The chicken was cooked perfectly and was crispy and hot, with the waffles melting in your mouth. I’m not a huge gravy person(gravy comes on top) but they were more than willing to put it on the side. This was quality stuff, and for the price($ 12 I believe) you really can’t beat it. It’s worth every penny and you’re more than likely to have some leftovers to take home. There are a lot of good brunch places in Ferndale, so definitely add this to the rotation. It’s more expensive, but for the chicken & waffles especially it’s worth it.

awesome brunch spot! very trendy with their theme and décor and the menu options are very simple yet delicious. i always get the french toast, but the eggs benny’s and omelettes looked pretty good too. the free coffee while you wait is pretty awesome as well. there’s even a few bar stools towards the back where you can grab something quick like juice, coffee, or mimosas etc. while you wait for your table to be called. simple menu, quick wait time, great location, and friendly prompt service. *Brad is the man, btw. –civilities.

Look, I love breakfast/brunch. Always have. So I KNOW when someplace hits it out of the park. I thought that after my first visit to Toast but, you know, it could have been a fluke. Well my friends, I’m here to tell you that it wasn’t a fluke. This place is the BOMB!!! And now they even offer bloody Mary’s and mimosas!!! It’s only gotten better! The menu is such fun. So many good options from which to choose. Just look at some of the photos other reviewers have posted. Go ahead. Yep, it’s even better than it looks! I was gonna post a few myself but when the server placed my bacon and Gouda omelet in front of me with the jalapeño cheese bread, I couldn’t contain myself long enough to grab my phone. And there’s nothing quite like melted Gouda in your eggs… They’re called gourmet omelets and that’s exactly what they are. Amazing. The French Toast options are plentiful and delicious. You WILL over eat. Guaranteed. But isn’t that part of the fun? I’ll be back next time I’m in Ferndale. I’m coming early. And hungry.

We wanted something a little different for breakfast but really something better and with a little edge to it. Ferndale does not disappoint here. The restaurant is small, not Fly Trap small, but really not much bigger. With the demand, there is almost always a wait. No big deal, grab a seat in the back and wait to be seated. On the weekends, there is a DIY coffee station while you wait and wait you will. Unilocalers noted to either try the biscuits and gravy or the daily special. I opted for the daily special which was a house-smoked pastrami omelet. I’m not a huge pastrami fan but I figured any place that takes the painstaking effort to make their own pastrami, is worth the risk. It paid off. The omelet was the right ration of egg to filling and a reasonable portion to boot. More importantly, the eggs were NOT overcooked. In fact, this was perhaps one of the best omelets I’ve had to date. Plus, get the rye bread and enjoy it dry. Don’t muck it up with jam or butter because on it’s own, it’s that good. My wife had had the B-Street French Toast which is made with French bread and has bananas, bacon and a proper bourbon sauce. By proper, this sauce merely captures the natural flavors of bourbon without being the slightest bit boozy. Upon a return trip, I’m going to try the Chicken and Waffle Benny as that seemed to be a crowd favorite. Service here was great. Our server knew the menu well and was solid with her recommendations for first time guests. She was also quick on refills even though she was swamped. Service here rounds out the experience. RECOMMENDATION: Absolutely get a fresh, squeezed juice AND a cup of coffee. ALLERGYWARNING: Many entrees on the menu contain peanuts and tree nuts.

I used to have mixed reviews about this place. At first we loved it. Then we had a 2 – 3 visit stretch with bad experiences about a year ago. We’ve been back giving them another chance ever since and they’ve been back to their good ways. Small place but it’s always busy. Parking isn’t the best but it’s worth the wait. I always order the same thing, grilled cheese and tomato soup. I truly believe they make, hands down, thee best grilled cheese sandwich I have ever had. They only serve it after 11am so we’re always there around that time. Their Banana Coffee is a must-try as well. It’s not something I can drink everyday. But I still have it everytime I go. It different. A bit sweet but not over powering. Just the right taste.
