First things first, I love the idea of this place more than the reality(at least at first try). To be fair, we ate off the brunch menu and felt like the options were limited with no kids menu the cauliflower hash was well seasoned and the tempeh burger was good. The tofu hash was passable and so was the coconut bar but I would order either again. This is just being picky but it was a really hot day and the like warm water was kind of sad. On the plus side, the waitress was really lovely and it’s cute inside and the two dishes we liked were great. We’ll try again maybe with the regular menu to get a better idea!

Disappointing … was expecting much better based on reviews. Kale salad was mediocre … texture was great but flavor bland unless a bit of ginger was on the fork. Miso soup and tempeh burger were tasty. Did not try a stir fry … did look good. Water served was warm, no ice. The restaurant is small and with a few full tables, felt very loud(difficult to hear own tables conversation). Entrance is in the back along neighboring restaurant’s dumpsters — parking lot is rough in a tight alley. In summary … some food is good, some ok … lousy location and interior. Not inspiring enough to want to return.

I have a soft spot for this place despite the fact that they have gotten rid of their classic stir fry on the menu which was my favorite item :(. Before its ultimate demise, it was a heaping plate of fresh delicious veggies and udon noodles and it made my stomach smile. However, I still go back and have warm fuzzies when I am there because fortunately they have other great options! I am not a soup person but I am consistently jazzed by their soups, and I’ve been happy whenever I have tried their specials. I like their veggie burgers, the shaved brussels, and their kale salad. Also, I would definitely recommend trying brunch here!

Have you ever been somewhere that tasted like home… for your soul; That tasted fresh, delicious and healthy, That makes you truly savor each morsel and weep when it’s over. If you answered no then clearly you’ve never dined at Om Café. If you answered yes then obviously you have. The shaved brussels were as delicious as they were on my previous visit. The real showpiece this time was the General Tzo made with tofu-ooh that was a treat to eat. It’s funny because after the shaved brussel I told myself I was too full since everyday I eat a salad for breakfast. Yet when the General marched to the table I decided to try it and leave it here since most food doesn’t reheat well and I don’t microwave food. Many forkfulls later I reluctantly got a takeout box. I just have to figure out how to heat it without nuking it for dinner. Anyway. Do your buds a flavor, your taste buds and get into the Om Café… Namaste

This place was awesome– the stir fry us great and the desserts were too! My friends and I loved it :) Personally not a fan of the Mac and cheese(i tried my friends) it’s more like a curry flavor from the turmeric– it’s NOT cheesy The general tsos is really good :) overall solid choice for vegans :)

Finally got to try this place today for brunch. We got seated immediately and the hostess was friendly and our server was attentive. I had the eggs Benedict which was incredibly delicious! The veggie sausage was soooo good — wonderfully filled with flavor. My friend had the nori roll which was huge and filling. Very peaceful atmosphere. Can’t wait to try it again!

Cozy and delicious! All of the employees put in a team effort and are very understanding when it comes to your questions or special requests(if encouraged by the menu). And I absolutely love that they hang and sell local artist’s work on their walls!

I cut dairy out of my diet five weeks ago, so I thought I had to try Om Café again. and, it has finally happened — I was satisfied by a Vegan meal from a restaurant, and the funny thing is I actually just ordered two sides this time(chips & salsa, and sautéed tempeh). I loved the organic coffee, it pairs well coconut creamer! The home made salsa was good, but as soon as I added a touch of sriracha — it was the bomb! I’m not sure if their chips are homemade, but that too was delicious that I was actually eating it without the salsa which never happens! That sautéed tempeh though, oh my god is all I have to say. I actually wanted the sautéed seitan, but they ran out, and I’m happy they did because then I wouldn’t have been able to try the tempeh which blew me away! I took a bite and it was like whoa, added some Tamari sauce and that was it — I realized that I had finally found the perfect vegan comfort food. To add to my excitement, the service was outstanding today — they were extremely busy, but I received my food within fifteen mins and was out in less then half! Kudos to the staff! Another thing I would like to point out is their beverage options — most is light and healthy, as they offer smoothies and tea! Om Café you rock!

Our absolute favorite place in Ferndale and we’re not even vegetarian! Besides the food being amazing, this little restaurant is cozy, warm, and inviting. We love coming in on colds night and sharing the brussel sprouts doused with lots of Sriracha. Other favorites on the menu include: Nori roll Tempeh burger El Mexicano Loaded vegan mac(satisfies the ultimate comfort food craving) I’ve never disliked a single thing on the menu and we’ve tried almost everything.

I am happy to report that improvements have been made since the last time I was here a few years ago, a client told me that conditions had improved. And she was right! I thought the food quality matched the prices now, the service was more abundant and friendlier, and the menu was a good variety and clearly labeled. I’ll definitely go back now.

I love that eating here makes me feel good about my choice that I feel good after eating the food. Everything is fresh and tasty and I imagine you could bring someone who is leery about a vegetarian restaurant and they would leave very satisfied. My only complaint would be that I wish they offered their daily specials at lunchtime because the pictures always look so good on Facebook! I have only been here twice, so I have not had a lot of menu items, but I recently had their house salad(lettuce cucumber, onion, avocado, and choice of dressing) with their mustard shallot vinaigrette dressing and hot shaved Brussels sprouts and it was fantastic! They also have a lot of vegetarian and vegan desserts.

First time here. Had a vegan black bean jalapeño soup. It was pretty spicy but good. Also tried smothered tempeh with mashed potatoes and lightly steamed kale. That was absolutely delicious. The garlic and dill gave it a very nice flavor. Chocolate coconut cake sounded too tempting to resist. Loved it. The service was superb. Definitely will be back

This is my favorite restaurant in Ferndale. Im a vegan and this place caters perfectly. I went here with my mother for the second time for Mothers Day Brunch. They didn’t have the Frittata available because they needed to perfect the recipe– but I will DEFINITELY be getting it when it’s available again. Vegan omelletes/Frittatas are the hardest to make. The service was awesome. We were helped by several waitresses who filled our cups whenever it looked empty. The waitresses were so kind too. There were some very small children who were making lots of noise but that didn’t disturb things too much. We had Shaved Brussels and Breakfest Tacos, both of which were scrumptious!

After what seems to be a decade of drooling over Om Café’s Facebook newsfeed mainly consisting of irresistible profiles of special dishes and seductive head shots of tempeh stir frys, I finally got out and tried my first Nori Roll. «I fuck with these rolls”-Vivian, hater of vegetarian/no-fish-involved sushi. Also, the lentil soup is sensual. My friend says her mushroom burger was beguiling as well.

Great for veggies and healthy. Cashew corn chowder and grill cheese were awesome. Small place. Enter from the back alley. Will go back for sure!

The entrance is in the back, strange but intriguing. Once we entered we found that this helped keep it quiet and intimate since the noise of the traffic didn’t accompany each new customer coming in. The staff had a touch of punk rocker vegan flair. No need to be intimidated. Our server was very sweet and welcoming. We admittedly just came in for dessert and tea. Vegan desserts are the best! Sugar doesn’t overpower the palette and they feel less heavy in the stomach. The chocolate-raspberry birthday cake was delicious as was the ginger brew. We look forward to coming in again for a proper meal.

Yes. This place is awesome and the food is great. The servers are hipsters without the bad attitude that I’m used to from Austin. The warm potato arugula salad is amazing and creative. The teas were an awesome addition to the visit. It’s a bit odd that you walk in from what seems to be behind the store, but whatever, the place is great. I didnt think I’d find a great vegan place in the Detroit area, but this really blew me away. I would recommend this place to anyone.
