Definite date night or expense account joint for Findlay. Delicious appetizers and I really loved my bone in Cowboy Cut Ribeye. The bartender makes a great Manhattan too. Great selection of liquor but the wine selection needs some higher level options particularly if they’re going to offer excellent steaks like this. Excellent service and higher level atmosphere. I’ll be back again and again.

Had dinner here on a Thursday night. The restaurant was basically empty so would expect top level service. Ordered the wedge salad followed by the lobster ravioli and finished with the chocolate crème brûlée. The wedge was average with the star being a single strip of bacon which didn’t have much flavor or texture. The ravioli was very good but it deserved a couple of more pieces. As for desert crème brûlée need a freshly fired top and a silky inside. This one was cold throughout and had probably been in the refrigerator for a few hours. As I said the place was nearly empty and the service was okay. That didn’t stop them from putting an auto gratuity of 20% on a table of three people. I guess they needed us to make up for the empty tables.

The remodel is the best thing about this place. The 21.00 ravioli is a bit much and the food is not special. A few pieces of shrimp and scallops do not require a 36.00 price tag either. I’ve eaten a lot of places but this may be the first that ever CHARGEDFORDRESSINGONMYSALADTHATWASDIFFERENTTHANWHATWASOFFERED!!! Unheard of!!! Won’t be back again. I love nice dinners and don’t mind spending money but it needs to be worth it to return.

Just a head’s up: Under its new ownership, The Gathering is more upscale/pricier than Unilocal!reviews and ratings here would indicate, at least for dinner. If you’re looking for a quick, inexpensive family dinner, this is not the place. If you’re looking for a really nice place for a special night out, check it out. I’ve heard the food is «muy delicioso» — as it should be for $ 30+ per entrée.(But I do have my doubts that a wedge of lettuce can be $ 7 worth of «delicioso». Maybe bring your own lettuce.)

The gathering was a bit more on the pricey side than I had originally anticipated, but in no way to I feel I was shortchanged. The food was very well prepared and the service was great. I can’t make any commentary on appetizers, although the salads and entrees were delicious. Both my fiancée and I had steak, and the preparation was exactly as we requested. Mine came perfectly medium rare, while hers was medium. The accompanying sides were great as well — my ‘cowboy style’ meal with the poached eggs over biscuits was as tasty as it was beautiful and entertaining. Drinks we well mixed, too — not so heavy on the booze that it lost flavor, but not so weak that you feel cheated. The only knock I have on the rating came with dessert. The sac du bon was OK, but after a couple of bites was just too plain tasting as there was not enough sauce or chantily to go around, and the crème brûlée was underdone and had no crisp on top. With some refinements this might be a 5-star.

The food is typically excellent, but our recent experience was well below expectations. They would not provide a decanter for a bottle of wine we ordered without a significant upcharge(the menu said $ 50.00 upcharge) Yes, 50 bucks to bring out a decanter to pour the wine in to allow us to enjoy it more. I’ve never been charged for a decanter before, typically they want to let the wine breathe and at reasonable places it’s imprtant to THEM that we enjoy our wine… Not this place, they want to serve wine that is too young then if you want to enjoy it you need to spend 50 bucks to rent a 12 dollar decanter for an hour. Pretty sad. Our server said she would ask the manager if she can just bring one, the manager apparently gave a big NO to that because we didn’t get one nor a courtesy visit by the manager. Additionally, I was upcharged $ 2.00 for selecting blue cheese dressing which was offered as a dressing choice(no notice of additional charge), and another $ 2.00 for blue cheese crumbles(no notice of additional charge). I would not typically complain about slight upcharges to cover their costs but this was out of line and hidden. They clearly find running up the bill more important than the customer’s experience. We will not ever be going back and Rebekah has canceled all of her scheduled work events there.

Seems to be inconsistent in food service & quality. Good menu but unsure about consistency. Possibly different chefs? Change in mgt?

Fantastic meal, good service. Salad was fresh and just the right amount of dressing. My wife had a ribeye that was as tasty as any steak I’ve ever had. My halibut was flavorful and cooked perfectly. The bread served with dinner is a nice treat. So was the dessert. Will definitely visit again. Stopped in for another meal. Food was fantastic. Our server, Jordan, was great. The meal was a bit expensive, but I would put the steak I had against anything Mitchell’s or Ruth’s Chris ever put on my table.

Stopped in here with my husband who eats here regularly as he has clients in Findlay. The cobia fish was on special, so we both ordered it. Was cooked perfectly and the potatoes that came with it were fabulous. Also, I got the house salad with raspberry vinaigrette, which was great, husband got the Stilton, mixed greens tossed in balsamic vinaigrette with toasted walnuts, Michigan sun-dried cherries and Stilton blue cheese, awesome. Service was outstanding, ambience was great, and food was fantastic.

Sometimes half-stars would be really useful when rating places on Unilocal! This rating is based on three visits — one business lunch and two dinners. The meals were over a three month period, so I think I have a good handle on this place. Given the location and surrounding options, this is a pretty good white-tablecloth restaurant but they would never make three stars if they were in Columbus or Cleveland. The aspiration seems to be here, but the inspiration is lacking. For the prices, the dishes are executed well but the menu is uninspired. Food quality is fine but the menu is — well, boring. Pork chop, ribs, chicken, fish, pasta… you get the idea. This is a fine place to eat, but it is not a place to dine. Don’t expect anything unique here, but you will get a good meal with just about anything on the menu. Salads are well done and generous and that is always nice to see. The wine list is better than most places in the area, but the bar leaves something to be desired. The décor and pricing suggest«top shelf» — but if you are a brand-specific bar drinker you will find the premium aisle lacking here. The buyer should investigate more premium brands in almost every liquor category. Service was punctual, polite, and reasonably well informed. No complaints about the staff and at least one fellow seems very dedicated to being a professional server. Nice to see and there is progress being made here. My last dinner was with a business colleague. He had a couple beers, I had a martini and a glass of wine with dinner. We had salads and entrees. No desserts and the tab before tip was about $ 70. Not out of line, but probably steep for this market. The redesign of the restaurant is nice and the atmosphere is relaxed but not grungy. Kudos on the cleanliness and ambiance. Now find some inspiration for the menu! My feeling is the cooks are doing a good job, but the place needs a chef. I could make the argument this should be a 2.5 star place… but with some creativity and a good chef it could vault to a 3.5. Don’t be afraid to try the place — the new management seems to be on the right track.

**LOCALBUSINESS** About August of this year, this establishment was sold at auction. The new owner did a complete facelift of the old building and converted it into a more upper-scale restaurant. The menu also underwent a makeover and featured more bistro-like sandwiches and dishes. The prices increased, but that was to be expected with the renovations and appearances. The waitress seemed to not quite be on the ball, but it wasn’t the worst I’ve seen. I suppose one could chalk this up to opening day jitters. We were seated with a 25 minute wait at lunch. It was busy, so there’s not much to complain about there. I found my sandwich flavorful. Basically, it was a chicken sandwich with what I’d call an artisan bread. The thought was well placed, however the type of bread was mismatched with the chicken as it disintegrated in my hands(even with toothpicks to hold the rest of it together). I would recommend a more robust type of bread to stand up to the moisture of the chicken. In the end, I think they’ve done a fantastic job with the place. It has a little more character now, and I could see having a few business lunches here with some clients.
