written by wife of user… this place is truly a shining light in the midst of a boring trip between LA and SF, and the abundance of not so great(suffocating, cramped) places to stop along the way. if you like practical and inexpensive, like my husband, this may not be your top pick. in fact, it will not be. but it is my favorite place to stop by far! ive never been moved to review a roadside stop until now. it’s cute, has an abundance of healthy snack options, and it’s airy and clean(though the bathroom doesn’t quite match the cleanliness of the rest of the place… but it’s not bad). if you like good ambiance, and also want to get a subway sandwich while you pick up your healthy and mildly overpriced snacks, this is your place!

Love this little pit stop. I’ve been driving back and forth from Oakland to LA for years, and now that I live in LA(past 13yrs) I still hit the 5. I decided to stop in here on a whim to get my daughter a subway sandwich and was instantly wowed! Tons of dry fruit, nuts, honey, and the like. This will be our new little pit stop other than In & Out… lol.

I can’t say enough about this store. I’ve been stopping at this store for years and they never disappoint. Clean, friendly, and lots of cute gadgets and yummy spices to purchase. I love their«Good Shit» spice and all the different«Shit» spices! LOL If I’m rushing to So Cal I may not necessarily stop here, but on the way back it’s a MUST as I always find something cute or fun to buy for a gift or just for me. Many times my family and friends don’t stop unless they need gas, but after bringing them here for their first time it becomes a part of their stop too!

Very nice little store w/Subway inside. Subway was delightfully fresh, flavorful, and good service compared to LA Subways… Nice change of pace from a gas station stop. This place is unique and worth a stop definitely. They have everything — fresh fruit, wines, beer, sodas, junk food, gourmet salsa and sauces. Great selection of dried fruits, nuts, and snacks. Best price on Jelly Belly confections — about 20% off retail so I stocked up on some more Jelly Belly for my round belly!

Funky little collection of trinkets and snacks, and clean bathrooms as well. What’s not to like? I’d definitely stop in again.

Best stop on I-5…Love the little toy and gift section. Creative and themed(never the same stuff each time)…quality items like Melissa and Doug and vintage style toys. Awesome selection of gifts too. I always grab something for my hostess or niece and nephews here on my way to a visit. Can’t believe someone said this store had cheap quality stuff. The locally grown food items(nuts and jams, dried fruit) are slightly expensive but they are local and natural. Clean. Friendly. Very nice.

Pit stop to la. This place was a surprise, a small shop among gas stations and major fast food restaurants. We only went in here because there was a Subways inside it. The shop was pretty cool, it has trinkets and other items that you could pick up as a souvenir. Other than that, it seemed as if most people came into this store just to use the restroom or to get a drink and some Subway sandwiches. There is seating outside in the front and at the back of the restaurant which was pretty nice considering you see the whole country side and the crops that farmers are growing. I think coming here in the evening would be more impressive as the background and setting of the sun will make it quite a beautiful thing to see.

Way expensive 9.99 for some veggie chips? Mangoes with food coloring. What? Why? Gifts are all cheapy and way over priced. No thanks. Walked out with nothing.

This is a co place to stop when on the road and have a healthy snack! There are good options for nuts and dried fruits. Subway counter is inside the store, with expanded sitting area. The store itself is warm and exciting: lots of interesting merchandise. Bathrooms are fresh and clean, which is surprising in a good way.

Subway doesn’t have real avocado. 3.5oz bag of Snyder’s Pretzels and an Evian was over $ 6. Still the healthiest stop from LA to SF.

Not what I expected inside, but perhaps even cooler? Bought some dried edamame for me($ 7.99), peanut brittle for him($ 5.99) and some dip mix(called Dip Shit by Big Cock Farms). hahahaha It was just too funny not to buy. They also sold hot sauce, wine, gifts, and other dried fruits, nuts and veggies. Clean store and friendly employee that helped me at check out. Glad I stopped in!

A pleasant surprise in the middle of Hwy 5 on the way to Disneyland. The staff was friendly and the store clean and organized. It a nice place to break the rolling hills of the drive to SoCal. Keeping this place in mind when I head back to SoCal in the next few months.

Fun little spot to stop! You can grab a sandwich and relax, and browse the nostalgic and fun collection of candy and kitsch. They even have an old-times ice box in the back. Reminds me of the one I’d pull an ice cream bar out of at a gas station when I was a kid!

Interesting market with subway, scorpion lolipops, nuts, red neck cups. On the way back/from NorCal/SoCal road trip. Yes interesting snacks. Clean bathroom. Subway inside has the promotional prices, nothing more expensive. However, the snacks there are pretty pricey.

Driving back and forth between SF and LA you need to stop a few times, this place was one of the stops. Plus: Nice clean bathroom Large selection of dried nuts and fruit with dome other«gourmet» food items like jams, spreads, and seasonings There is a Subway inside They have a small selection of the more traditional convenience food Less crowded than McDonald’s Minus: Kitschy tourist stuff for sale, as opposed to more useful stuff High prices, but what do you expect It can be hard to turn into the parking lot(left turn) when the area is really busy Really, it meets your needs if you need to stop quick and grab something. It would be better if it had more things that were useful to travelers rather than trying to sell a bunch of souvenirs.

I’ve got to believe that you have to drive by this place on 5 quite often before you’d really find yourself a regular customer here. I’m more than a little surprised it’s stayed in business for as long as it has. They have a smattering of odd knick-knacks, snacks, drinks, etc. Although they have plenty of different kinds of snack bags similar to trail mix and the like, there’s not much else to buy, given the location of the store, that is. If you’re getting something to eat right next to it(I believe there’s a Subway that shares the building), this store might make for some quick browsing, or maybe a small bag of dried banana chips, but in my opinion, there not a whole lot that’s special about the Westside Country Store.
