We’re visiting from far away and were delighted to find this cute little kite shop. They have a good selection of kites. My feeling is that if you don’t at least carry Prism kites, you’re not worth a visit. These friendly folks have Prism, Sky Dog, Revolution, a range of foils and power kites, plus the requisite selection of line laundry and random doodads. I’d be lucky to have a kite shop of this caliber in my home town.

This is a cute shop the kind you stroll in & find interesting items. One item in particular was a 9″ Ghost Eyes tree ornament that I was told would reflect & glow in the dark. Upon hanging in backyard tree there was no reflection of ghost eyes. I called the store and was told by Pete that he doesn’t make them & could not back if they worked-funny how that mentioned when I was buying product. Can’t back them but will take my money. Pete then said I could get store credit if I sent back on my dime. Very generous considering I am 5 hours away and will never shop there again

«Let’s go fly a kite. Up to the highest height. Let’s go fly a kite and send it soaring». Like the song from Mary Poppins– the Fish Creek Kite store will have you reminiscing about your child hood kite flying experiences in no time. With hundreds of in stock kites(from the simple to the sublime) this store will have you rethinking that kite flying is just a kids activity. I was surprised at how inexpensive these beautiful kites were. Prices range from $ 8.95 for a child’s kite to $ 255 for a quad line kite(looked complicated), with the majority falling in the $ 25 range for a decent model. They also carry all kite accessories from bulk line, to spools to winders. The staff was helpful in basically re-teaching me all I thought I knew about kite flying(who knew there was no running like a crazed girl involved, screaming at your brother to «pull the line» Ha!) They show easy ways to get the kites to fly and remind you that even if you are using their kites for decoration– a kite must fly at least once to have a spirit– something it only gets from flying. The actual flying of the kite was fun– a great way to spend time outdoors. And even the trick I learned from my dad on how to «send a message to the kite» still worked(for those of you with kids– give this a shot– they will be impressed) Write a short message on a small piece of paper. Cut a slit in it and put it on the line. The wind will blow your message up to the kite– delighting kids and adults alike. I never take the time to do something so frivolous as to fly a kite. But on this sunny summer’s afternoon– I could think of no better way to enjoy the sunshine, hang with friends, and remember those carefree days of childhood.

Whimsy abounds. This kite store is chock full of simple and trick kites to entertain on windy summer days. They have a large selection of windsocks and flags for festive home decoration. They carry a wide variety of brands in a wide array of prices. Recently I’ve been somewhat fascinated with kiteboarding and am keeping my eyes open to the possibility of diving into the sport. In testing the waters, I asked the store owner a few questions, and was pleased to discover that he was knowledgeable about training, had a video running of some of some crazy snowkiting, and had some entry level kites that came with control bars and instruction videos. Alas, I did not make the leap this time.
