Best Hibachi in the area! We try and go at least once a month or more when we can. Great service, great food and price. Baba is phenomenal!

This non assuming exterior hides a pleasant surprise inside. Normally I get very unexcited about anything a strip mall has to offer, but Babas caught me off guard. The inside is a little old school with the hibachi style grills in one room and a traditional sushi bar area in the other. Interior is nothing fancy at all but the service and food quality is where it’s at. We opted for sushi and we were not let down. The rolls were fresh, tasty, and looked gorgeous. Our waitress was kind and very attentive. All the employees really cared about our experience and the owner even stopped by every table to assure that(cool and humorous guy, BTW). This is now to be my new sushi home and I will just have to face the risk of possibly being seen in a strip mall in Fishers and losing all my street cred. Oh well, it’s worth it.

Yummy food. Super friendly staff. And the best spicy mustard sauce I’ve ever had! Love it!

I’ve lived near and worked in Fishers for over 10 years, and just now found this spot. OK, I really don’t know how long it’s been there, but I’m grateful to have finally stumbled upon this little sushi/hibachi restaurant. It’s located just south from the Kroger at 116th and Allisonville, on the south side of 116th. The staff are friendly and helpful without being intrusive. We selected an appetizer of shrimp and vegetable tempura which had a good selection of peppers, butternut squash, broccoli and potato slices along with two large shrimp. The tempura was very crispy, hot and not the least bit greasy. We then shared several rolls, with a variety of cooked and raw fish. All the fish was fresh and the avocado was perfectly ripe. Thinly sliced jalapenos on one roll added a nice kick. The sauces were tasty, but my only complaint is that all the rolls were dripping in sauce … a lighter touch would have been better. I don’t want my sushi tasting like mayo. Good enough to try again, and always glad to find another locally-owned restaurant that isn’t pizza or burgers.(I have nothing against pizza and burgers, but we have enough of those places already!)

I cannot understate this … this is the best sushi I have ever eaten. Delicious and fresh and $ 2 cheaper than the prepared kind from marsh. Nice atmosphere and really nice people. My wife and kids had hibachi and the chefs performance while typical was better than others I have seen … longer, more fun, more tricks, and just a great time. The place is only open evenings and sometimes that’s a sign a place is struggling … I hope that’s not the case here. I’m a permanent customer now and will be carrying out or dining in at least once a week! From the moment we sat down I was just in heaven. Great Japanese salad, expansive menu including a whole section of «cooked» Sushi! This is what I’ve been looking for! Most Japanese restaurants are such a disappointment and overpriced. This place is my new favorite restaurant! After the meal, I decided to order 2 more sushi rolls for take out so I can eat them tommorow. Only negative review I saw really was from Alexandria, but after looking, she pretty much only gives 2 and 3 star reviews and seems to do nothing but complain. They should remove her from Unilocal. Can you imagine living with her!!! Omg.

The food was delicious. Very flavorful. Probably some of the best hibachi I have had. Quaint and intimate. There seemed to be a lot of regulars. The staff new several patrons. Will definitely go back and take my family.

This to me was no different than any other hibachi joint. I asked for dressing in the side, got looked at funny for it, and it took halfway through the hibachi meal to get my salad. Since I did not want soup or want the butter infused rice and meat in the hibachi, and my family all have their soups and salads finished by the time mine came, I was very upset. Don’t get the hype that this place is special. The hibachi chef looked tired and did not care when he messed up his tricks. Though the food was ok, I don’t see this place standing out in the food, service, or ambience categories. Very meh feeling eating there.

Definitely old gummy gelatinous salmon. Great appetizers though, excited to see proper crab Rangoon in a restaurant and wonderful gyoza.

Hibachi never disappoints! Came here for my birthday and enjoyed the food. Had the chicken and shrimp, and there was more shrimp than I expected so I was happy to share with hubby and son. Service was good.

This small little place is great. The food was delicious and priced perfectly. The service was just decent but the owner came and talked to us which I always like. This place should get more recognition over the big chain Japanese steakhouses. If you are looking for a good place to get Japanese food and/or sushi this is the place to go.

The jalapeño appetizer and the double crunch roll was so good. The gyoza, dead boyfriend and Hawaiian was just okay. The service was a bit slow on an empty night but picked up after another waitress came in. Disappointed they discontinued happy hour with no notification.

Baba’s is one of our family’s very favorite restaurants to visit! It’s a small, intimate hibachi/sushi joint, and we always have hibachi. Every time we come in, we are greeted by Baba himself, who is so friendly, always takes the time to talk with and remember my family, and puts on a great«show» for my young children. My 4 year old daughter loves going there just to visit Baba! Tonight we brought friends from New York, had an amazing meal with Baba, and we had so much fun! He even gave all the kids Colts winter hats! The food itself is always cooked perfectly, so delicious, and some great drink specials if you’re into Japanese beer. Highly recommend visiting this little spot — over and over!

Awesome awesome awesome bar. Came In with my husband on Thursday after work and everything was just right, from atmosphere to food. No points taken off for somewhat clumsy guy who tried to do tricks at hibachi grill — you gotta start somewhere ;)

What a pleasant surprise Baba’s has turned out to be. I just returned from my second visit and can confirm that the food is delicious and the service is pleasant and friendly– consistently. I have tried a variety of the sushi here now and not only is it absolutely wonderful in flavor and quality, the presentation has a little something extra. The art of taking a cucumber rind to make a votive holder on a plate is going well above and beyond what I would expect in artistry for a sushi restaurant with such reasonable prices! During my first visit the owner was extremely friendly and brought out a free appetizer for my friend and myself because he was trying it out to see if it should go on the menu. Such generosity on top of the friendly conversation we had gave me confidence that I would certainly be back. I’m so happy to know that Baba’s is consistently impressive!

Fresh sushi at anytime is heaven in my mouth, lol. So, they would have to mess up bad to get a bad review on the taste. And of course they didn’t! Top off good sushi with a SUSHIHAPPYHOURFROM5 – 7 and you have me strolling in to try it out! Happy hour is half off a special list of sushi, which, don’t worry friends does include the usual suspects: California, Unagi(eel), and Philadelphia, to name a few. The list is long, and inclusive enough to to make any sushi eater happy during happy hour, and of course includes sashimi as well. The sushi tasted great and was presented well, not as fancy and artful as I have seen; but I was there only the once. And I will try the their more elite rolls! Along with the sushi bar, Baba’s has hibachi grills and from what I saw the families that were there seemed to be entertained. it’s a very small place that feels intimate from the moment you walk in, about 4 hibachi grils to the right and the sushi bar is at the back with a small layout of tables. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Online you can find their website that is very user friendly and includes COUPONS! Happy eating!

Nope. This was not good hibatchi. Excited by the other reviews we decided to try this place out. That was our first mistake. Secondly it took 30 minutes for anyone to come to our table of 7. To long. After that the server was very attentive and pleasant. So he redeemed himself in that aspect. Next, after ordering, we were told they had no red meat in the resturant. It was only an hour after opening. Come on. Really? Stuck with chicken we moved on. The miso soup was just a bowl of chicken broth, the ginger salad tasted like mayo and ginger mixed and coated the salad like icing on a cake, rice was cold(how that happened from a hibatchi is beyond me) chicken was burnt, but the veggies were great. So all in all great veggies and good service equals 2 stars.

This was quite possibly the worst hibachi ever. I took my girlfreind out for her birthday and we both thought the same. The sushi seemed priced right and we like to try new places. This was the first and will be the last time we go. Our chef was clearly not qualified. It started by him trying to throw his spatula behind the back. He missed the catch and hit another guest. A little girl no less. He made no attempt to apologize or anything. Simply had another clean the mess for him. And then proceeded like nothing happened. He dropped other spatulas throughout the preparation of the meal. Then came time for the food. Not only was everything drenched in hibachi sauce but he first covered it in salt. Please remeber hibachi, soy, & teriyaki sauces are salt based. And I cannot state enough how much salt was on our food. Basically picture a dry rub of only salt. The chicken and steaks were turned into little salt licks like he was preserving the food for winter. One bite and we all started coughing heavily. My girlfriend and I both had to drink several glasses of water and still felt dehydrated. We will never eat here again.

Absolutely amazing sushi! The sushi chef and our server were both so personable. My boyfriend doesn’t eat sushi. He got the shrimp habachi and loved it! Im from out of town and was a little worried about trying sushi in Indiana and this place blew me away! The chef brought out complimentary flounder sashimi for me to try, and wow!!! So yummy! Definitely one of my favorite sushi places! Just writing this review my mouth is watering lol!
