Georgetown Alterations

I had really high hopes for this shop after reading other reviews but I was incredibly disappointed. I took in a bridesmaid dress for some small alterations, I only needed about an inch taken off the hem and the top needed to be nipped in. I was given no indication of a roundabout fee but I wasn’t worried after seeing all of the affordable comments.
Well, I picked it up last Friday and was hit with a $ 103 bill. I literally almost threw up. The alterations couldn’t have taken more than an hour. When I questioned the amount, the rather rude woman just kept saying it’s a layered dress. My mother in law is a seamstress and confirmed they doubled what it would have normally cost. I mean really? $ 103?! This made the dress almost $ 300. No way in heck will I be back.

Their work is amazing. My wife took a leather jacket there that needed a new lining. The jacket came back looking amazing. The lining was better than the original — it was a work of art. She has had several other pieces done there as well and they all look great. They are also honest enough to tell you when an alteration will cost more than a new garment.
I took a sweater in to have a letter and some stripes sewn on for a costume and it looks perfect. The work is professional and the people that work there are not only good at their jobs, but they are very nice as well.

Great experience — the staff was super friendly. I took in a final sale J. Crew dress that I couldn’t return but was way too big, and in a matter of days (dropped off Monday afternoon, they said it would be ready Thursday after 3pm) I had a dress that I like much better. I think it was $ 14 total for the alterations, and they did a great job — you can’t even tell the dress was worked on.

I have been using these ladies for years! They do an excellent job! They are super fast and very reasonably priced! I have even had formal gowns altered there and they did a great job!

This place is awesome. Great work, quick turn around, and very reasonable on price. These people are fantastic.

I’ve used this tiny tailor shop for years. Tucked in a strip mall between Sahm’s and a Goodwill donation center, you might not know it’s there. The women who work there are experts at what they do. I’ve had many slacks and sleeves hemmed over the years, and they do a great job for a good price. They even helped fix a leather strap for my favorite attaché case, adding years to it’s life!
Don’t be put off by it’s small size and somewhat shabby interior (think shabby chic). These tailors get the job done! I’m more willing to buy clothes that aren’t perfect off the rack, knowing I can bring them in they’ll turn it into a custom fit.
