We just tried this place again and won’t be going back. The service was awful, dirty tables everywhere and it wasn’t even that busy. Our server was so rude to us. I was literally in mid sentence and she walked away from me. My daughter found TWO hairs in her salad. We ordered two pizzas and only one came out. After a few minutes we just told them to forget about it. We had no refills on our drinks. It was really just a hot mess. Felt gross after leaving. Pizza is somehow good though

15 minutes after walking in the door we had someone walk up empty handed as if wondering why we were there. I asked if we could get food and drinks and the table cleaned. Bottom line, been here before, liked the food, tonite was horrible service, very mediocre food. Just unacceptable for neighborhood where it resides. Management needs to note the date of this post and consider the staff on the job. Terrible would be a generous comment.

Pizza here is pretty good. Really cheese I and staff is always friendly. Love the breadsticks. Seating is a little tight and the food takes awhile to come out even for normal crust. Something in the dough causes Intestinal distress or a heavyness even for pizza. But it’s an indulgence. And sometimes worth it.

Big fan of the«south of downtown» location. Never been disappointed even once on the buffet offerings even with a packed house… it’s always busy! But the fishers location has much to be desired. Less than 2 miles from my house. we’ve ordered take out there three times now and each time been less than satisfied. Breadsticks are about the only thing that doesn’t lack when compared to the«original». It’s signature deep dish is about ½ as deep with skimpier toppings… portion control at its worst. Definitely a more profitable pie. but we won’t be back to this location.

OMCHEEEEEEESE! And deeper than the ocean! I’m in love with pizza all over again, like rediscovering it… no, this actually disqualifies all OTHER deep dish pizzas from the fast food chains as just«not». And the breadsticks were soft and moist like, you know, REAL(aah) bread… you almost feel the comfort oozing off of me don’t you? So, got delivery, arrived hot and the tasted delicious! Price, soooo reasonable on the pizza front. Definitely a fan! Oh btw they have desserts, and sandwiches; and I’m going to try them ALL. Only drawback you latenighters, they only deliver til 9pm; so order early and reheat!

Ordered delivery online and really disappointing. I figured this would be similar to the South of Chicago in Fountain Square. I don’t recommend if you’re really in the mood for Pizza.

Overall this place is a nice neighborhood pizza joint. Really nice relaxed setting. The breadsticks were phenomenal! Nice little craft beer selection. We ordered both a deep dish and then crust and thought the deep dish was simply average as compared to some of the more authentic Chicago joints. The thin crust was great compared to other typical Indiana pizzas. Overall very pleased.

South of Chicago has been on my radar for some time now. Normally not a deep dish pie guy but have been in a pizza rut for a while and thought I would switch it up. Using the handy Eat24 Unilocal app, I placed my order hassle free online. I had a bit of an issue with the app in using the tracking feature but saw the time of 30 minutes so no big. Drove to the place to pick up the pie, paid, and left. After getting home and dishing it up I realized we had the wrong pizza. Seriously a bummer since it wasn’t even close. Noticed I had a missed call from the place and I called back to voice my displeasure. The apologetic hostess said she had mistakenly given me the wrong order and they had mine at the store. She offered to have it delivered or I could pick up. Told her I would pick it up… really not a big deal for me; these things happen and are small in the big picture. Onto the pizza… good crust, sweeter than expected sauce, generous cheese, not so much on the peppers and onions. Overall really good, even though I probably can’t tell a good deep dish from a bad one. Everyone in the family enjoyed it(and I have a half of an incorrect pie for lunch later this week). So not a banner visit but the pizza made up for it. Will look at trying some Italian beef and giardinara next time.

My son Enzo absolutely loved the Italian Beef trying it for the first time ever at 7yrs old. I’m now a believer as well after having it many times in Chicago. We’ve liked their pizza but now we can’t wait to come back for the beef and sausage combo.

An update: Since Giordanos came to Indy(legitimately my favorite deep dish pizza place), I had to compare the 2. South of Chicago Pizza(SOCP) really does hold its own with Giordanos. They both are good in their own right, and the sauce seems sweeter and brighter at SOCP, while bolder and tangier at Giordanos. Also, the wings are AMAZING. Same with their breadsticks. I can’t say I dislike any of the food here, although I have not tried their non-deep dish pizza. I do like the new-ish sign that they put up as well — very nice.

Since Giordano’s has opened in Indy, we’ve been on a bit of a hunt for some good Chicago deep dish that won’t require having to fight through the zombie hoards that seem to congregate around Giordano’s Keystone at the Crossing location. South of Chicago isn’t quite what we’re looking for, but it’s a good effort. The wait staff was very friendly and the Fishers location was clean and seemed well maintained. The pie looked absolutely gorgeous. If we were going on looks alone, I would have guessed the pie to be the equal of Giordano’s. Taste, though, wasn’t quite there. The crusted, floured Parm cooked on top gave the cheese layer a rough mouthfeel. And the sauce lacked character. The crust, on the other hand, was delectable. The onions were also very fresh and well prepared. And the pepperoni was flavorful enough. With a better sauce recipe, I think this might have become our new favorite pizza. I think we’re likely to try the«Deep Dish Lunch Buffet» sometime when I have a weekday off. If they could just tweak that sauce recipe to add some character, I think we’d become regulars. As is, I don’t think we’re likely to come back too much.

When we arrived there were three groups waiting to be seated. We headed to the bar area where it is first come first served. They have table seating in the bar. The one downfall is there was one bartender for the 15 people at the bar & the 5 tables in the bar. Ordered the house salad, not much to it, but it was loaded with cheese. No complaints here. Got the deep dish with pepperoni, mushrooms, and banana peppers. Said in the menu it would take possibly an hour to cook at peak hours of business. Our pie was out in 15. It was delicious. Very hearty and an excellent marinara sauce on top. Interesting location in the middle of a neighborhood. The ceilings in the restaurant are tall & not a lot to absorb sound. I could see this place getting loud. We will be back because they look to have ample outdoor seating.

Nice place. We ate in the bar. Had a nice thin pizza which we enjoyed more than the thick we had a few months ago. Nice selection of beer on tap and had great service. We will definitely come back.

I’m originally from the Chicago area and I have been looking for an authentic Italian sausage beef combo like I love from back home. I finally found it! This place is the real deal. The sausage Italian beef combo did not disappoint at all. The taste was exactly as I remember. I also had the deep dish pizza which was very good. I’ll definitely be going back! *An added bonus is this sits a few doors down from Jacks Donuts which is my favorite donut shop. Reviewed and added pics for there too, lol.

Ate here last night via Eat/4. I will say the delivery took about 30 minutes longer than what I was told… And they never called to tell me that. But, I fault Eat24 more than the restaurant for that… Because life happens. I ordered spaghetti and meatballs(comes with garlic bread), their chocolate cake, and a can of coke. The garlic bread was decent. Nothing spectacular. Sort of like what you would buy and make at home. The cake, however, was a massive shining star. I could only eat half last night(plan on eating the other half for breakfast)… But that was because I was full from snacking while waiting that hour and a half for food. Absolutely not a reflection of the cake… Because it was wonderful. I also tried a meatball(before the cake),. Not the spaghetti, because priorities… I had to have room for that cake(I knew it would be good). It was also awesome. So overall it was a good experience!

Oh so good, nice buffet for lunch… Owners are really nice too. They stop by to chat. Told them one in Carmel would be great, good pizza comes up short in Carmel… Hope fully one of these days they will. My waist line will be in trouble if it happens…

We walked in around 7pm on Saturday, and it was busy. There was staff standing around and the one free table in the bar area needed to be bussed. The manager/owner? came from behind the bar cleared the table. We ordered garlic cheese bread, antipasto salad and a deep dish pizza. The garlic cheese bread was pretty good. Plenty of cheese and the marianara sauce was delicious. The antipasto salad was ok. Would be better with Romaine lettuce and price a little high for the size. The salad and bread came out pretty fast the pizza on the other hand took about 30 minutes. But it was delicious and yummy. And maybe we have watched way too much Bar Rescue. But I was a little put off by a bartender showing his chest to other customers, a group of three taking shots behind the bar, and the female bartender coming back inside and handling items never wasking her hands or taking off her coat. The service was great the first time I stopped by for a drink and some garlic cheese bread. But the place was pretty empty at 3pm. I am a little disappointed this time by the behaviors.

The first few weeks(months) that South of Chicago Pizza & Beef was open in their Fishers location were a bit rough. The pizza took forever, the staff didn’t really know what was going on, and the place lacked a friendly atmosphere. This has changed. Deep dish(Chicago style) pizza will still take 30+ minutes to fully cook, but it’s rarely more than that. And it’s delicious. If you’re a Chicago pizza fan then you need not read any further. Go get your pizza today. Their craft beer selection is also a nice touch. Recently they had taps from 8 different breweries across all major styles(including 3 Floyds Alpha King and Taxman Qualified). Throughout the restaurant they have some TVs as well for those looking to catch a sporting event. I assume they show all sports, but I’ve only ever seen NFL and College Football. As far as dishes other than pizza — I recommend the breadsticks. The cheese bread is decent. The spaghetti and meatballs isn’t worth ordering.

Sadly this is not a 45 minute Carry-out«Chicago Deep Dish» I was expecting. Maybe I’m wrong but I base it off of @Giordanos. All I could taste is the thick crust with minimal cheese and toppings. I really couldn’t finish the cardboard box, I mean pizza. I really wanted this to e great as live not far away. I’ll come back to try the bar atmosphere and other food items. P. s. The spinach tomato garlic bread was good, but not travel for that only good. ***update: I added a good layer of cheese to my leftovers and it tastes like it should. Not sure if I got a new cook or it’s usually light on the cheese***

The only downfall was that we were told 45 minutes for our pizza to be ready for pick up. When we arrived it was not in the oven yet. However, since the thin crust was most excellent I decided to give them an extra star. On that note I was quite upset with a worker complaining to me about another co-worker. Honestly, don’t bother me with your issues with that employee
