There is a new vender in the back in the food court, that sells really great cookies like you would find in a top notch bakery for only $ 7.00 per pound. The cookies are very fresh and taste great. They will offer you a free sample of any cookie they have. They also have a bunch of organic nuts, dried fruits, and great selection of fair trade coffee’s. It is worth a trip to this market just for this booth alone. The owner’s are a father and son team they dress up in white aprons with big white chef hats. They are really funny to watch together and are both very friendly and helpful. Did I mention the cookies are delicious.

It was a sunny weekend day and we were driving by so we stopped to explore the Dutchess Marketplace, but it didn’t take more than a few seconds to discover just how sad a place it is. In an emergency there were a couple of outdoor vendors in the parking lot flea market from whom it might have been possible to find something to buy(a used book for $ 1 perhaps?), but most of the«merchandise» was beyond hope. At least the weather outside was terrific, inside, where the names of many of the departments from the former low-end department store that had once inhabited the shell of a building remain, is remarkably depressing. The merchandise ranged from large lots of new, cheaper-than-cheap quality household goods just off the boat from other continents, to booths jammed with things that you(or at least, we) threw out decades back. Despite this some people were actually buying the food for sale in the rear where there are self-serve tables and also public facilities. Next time we’ll just keep driving!

Love it here. Someone says they are afraid of getting raped there. Getting raped is nothing to joke about it and its nothing like that. Unless you believe you will get raped in a entire store full of wall to wall people. Anyways the venders are great. Some toys looked used but the prices are good. A lot of antiques. A few food venders. There’s a message and hair place as well.

DUMPSKEAVIEGROSSSTOLENBOOTLEG Depressing and dark — I was actually afraid of possibly being Raped !! DON’T come here !!! No different then what it was 10 years ago. in the old Dutchess Mall Flea Market. PERVERTS and PEDOPHILES Was here with my daughter — and some creapy seller was trying to make a pass at her — SHESONLY12 years old — you PERVERT– you know who you are !!! Could have had you arrested — but the Fishkill Police said because you didn’t touch her, I couldn’t press charges… The Police said its not the first time they have had issues with «them flea market people»… Sellers are nasty, greedy, dirty and creapy… Looks like most of the stuff is either STOLEN, discarded dollar store crap or ” just took it out of the dumpster” shit… I’ve seen the same or better stuff in the garbage cans behind the mall. What kind of people buy used Playboy magazines, a broken vacuum cleaner, old cereal boxes(full or not, I dont want to know), 8 track tapes, illegal Bootleg DVD’s, nasty used refrigerators and washing machines, and a shitload of fucking Gross ass Beanie Babies… AND Flea Market sellers: stop stealing HOMEDEPOTS shopping carts and carriages for your crap – we can never find any shopping carts at HOMEDEPOT, cause you people at the fleamarket keep stealing them all…

If you love these two things… 1. flea markets/swap meets and 2. Road trips …go to Duchess county. This(market)place is amazingly huge and utterly full of people and stuff. I have given it three stars, not for lack of size or quality, but because I don’t enjoy flea markets PERSONALLY. This visit was prompted by my husband’s love of both things and the fact that we were celebrating our 3rd wedding anniversary in the area. My condition to him was we go when they open so the rest of the day was still able to be very full. Having gotten there when they opened, I discovered a table of fudge run by a delightful married couple situated RIGHT by the entereance. I am chatty so the lady there and I started a conversation and I told hubby to go wander on his own. Win/Win The fudge was indeed varied and delicious(they have samples and very good prices) so ask questions. They were both very sweet people. Several places hadn’t opened or had notes saying they were away till whenever. There was still 3 hours worth of hunting to do. A few items were bought at another food location which had many different dry mix dips and spreads(they also had samples out!) and a couple games at a video gamer enthusiast stand. There are restrooms in back to accommodate many people as well as several actual vendors of food. Ice cream, Latin, Italian to name a few. A good deal of shoe leather to be sure, but your eye has many places to wander and the people I spoke to were all very friendly. Worth going and I’d bet hubby will want to go again next visit to the area.

I visited today to see Bruno Sammartino. Bruno cancelled, thumbs down for Bruno. The marketplace is strange. There are some good food kiosks, like the gyro stand and the pickle place, but a lot of the vendors sell junk. There are some good antique shops and even a haircut place where a men’s cut is $ 8. You can’t beat that price. The one major issue I have with the Marketplace is the dim lighting. It makes the place depressing. You can see that only half the lights work. It’s odd that the marketer of this property would disconnect half the fluorescent lighting. I doubt I’ll be back but it was an interesting one-time experience.
