I went a few weeks ago and there were more(useless) employees standing around chatting and gawking at customers than there were actual customers. My self service check out(no actual human cashier working) was a nightmare when 2 staff members who were chatting nearby, noticed a bin I was attempting to purchase was priced incorrectly. Both rude and unprofessional. I’m guessing this location is folding soon since no one up top seems to care about it. I wish someone would open an actual hardware store nearby, but until then I’ll take my business to the Wappingers location

Carlos who work at the Home Depot in East Fishkill is one out of two of the rudest employees I’ve seen working in the store.

My review is still a one star for this Home Depot(see my previous review). However, I’ll give one of their customer service employees a 5 star rating(Fitz), because he understood what had happened when I explained it to him and offered the 10% discount anyway(which I said«no» to, because I don’t want to do business w/Home Depot again) or offered to refund us the money we paid for the installer to come out and measure. However, back to another one star review for Home Depot in reference to their installers. When we were going to buy the door from HD, the installer came out to measure. My husband and I thought that the original door(Pella) had been put on backwards, because the screen was on the inside and the door looked as if it was on backwards, because the runner on the bottom(where you would put a bar/stick as added precaution so no one would try to force the door open) was on the outside. Well, the installer from HD agreed with me that it was on backwards. When we made the decision to get our door from Lowe’s and had the installer from a company that Lowe’s uses come out to measure, I mentioned the door being on backwards. He told me that it’s not on backwards. Apparently, Pella doors are like that and the screens are on the inside(our screen is missing a latch and that’s why we can’t use it). Pella has an option of a foot lock on their doors for added protection. I’m so happy that we decided to go with Lowe’s.

I went to Home Depot to purchase several bags of salt pellets for our water softener. Lifting those heavy bags isn’t something anyone looks forward to, but I found an orange cart and wheeled it over to the display of salt products at the front of the store. Within a few moments, an employee approached me and asked how many bags I needed and began to load them onto my cart! I then walked a few feet over to the quick check put and asked a very nice woman employee how to scan without lifting the heavy bag. She set it up for me in their automated system and in seconds I was paid, and following the gentleman out the door to my car. He loaded the salt pellets into to my car and I thanked him.(I was embarrassed I had no cash on hand to tip, so I thought the least I can do is offer a wonderful review on Unilocal!to both employees!). A mundane task was made a lot easier because of great hardworking and kind people. Thank you!

normally I would not take the time to post a review of a big box store like this unless I had a horrible experience or an incredible one – and it’s so fun to say that I’m writing because of the latter. seriously – down to the person including young teenagery-looking ones – every single employee is cheerful, happy, and *so* helpful. my husband and I were so struck by it we actually asked one of the super nice people – who turned out to be the store manager – what is the deal with the hiring policy? do you hire amazing happy people on purpose or what? and of course it’s absolutely purposeful. and after talking to him you see he’s just as nice as anyone there. trickle down, etc. so it’s a Home Depot and they have everything you expect at a Home Depot but when you go to a big box store and get treated like that it’s not an overstatement to say it really makes a difference in your day! incidentally where we live we are sort of equidistant between two Home Depots but we will always choose this one so it does make a difference :)

I love their location because it’s never crowded but it’s on a major route and next to the highway. My husband goes there a lot and I don’t mind going with him because I know we can get in and out quickly! The staff is very friendly and always willing to help which is a huge plus in a store this size!

I have to say I’ve had some very good help at this HD. A young man waited while we layed out our«closet» on the floor so we could confirm our measurements before he cut. the wood. Then he waited some more while we changed our minds and made mistakes. Then he helped us fix the mistakes by making extra cuts. I wouldn’t say that all the staff is knowledgable about everything they have in the store but that’s understandable I suppose.

This particular HD is a hit with me… much less crowded than its Wappingers and Mohegan counterparts. I have had many hekpful people assist me in my home care projects. Thanx Dave for helping me cut trim for my gathering room and Jim for helping NOT choose a certain wood product and steering me on to a better plan ! Returns are EZ and while some do not care for self check out… I am a fan!

This Home Depot is great… it’s 5 minutes from my home(alot closer than the other one in Wappingers or Lowe’s) and has everything I need to fix up the place. Rumor has it they even have the parts needed to make a time machine to go back to 1993(that’s when I’d go back to… things were easier then. Plus I could invent Google and Facebook and be a billionaire now). Clean, well-stocked, friendly and helpful employees, not as crowded as the other HD, I can’t complain.

Based on the fact that I inevitably end up here several times a week for one thing or another, I simply must give them 5 stars. Sometimes I joke I am there so much they should cut me a paycheck! As far as HDs go, it is not too different than many others. What makes this one stand out to me is how nice the people are who work there, who recognize me by now, and that it is pretty clean and user friendly. Is it perfect? No. But as far as accomplishing what they set out to do, I would say on the whole they succeed. If we could find most of the items needed at local smaller retailers we would buy there instead but when we have tried with at least five independent nearby stores, we have walked away empty handed and headed to this HD instead. I am not one for Big Box anything but sometimes there is just no other option which saddens me but I guess that is the way of the world in 2009. If we must go to HD at least it is this one as the nice hellos we get make it less of a bad and more of a good experience. 4.75 stars.
