We’ve been here at least three times in the past year and a half, and the menu has not changed much. The food is good, but we always look forward to more seasonal options. Regardless, the service is wonderful and friendly.

Used to be a nice spot for lunch/dinner. Been there about 8⁄9 times. Something has drastically changed. Food was barely worthy of a deli. Steak fries? Nope… Looked and tasted like they came from a bag from Sam’s club. Cubano(sp?) sandwich… Have actually had better at a deli. Steak strips(medium)…pretty tough and well, lets just say very over done. Lobster bisque? I thought there should be some(1 ?) chunk of lobster meat in there. Maybe they should call it lobster broth. Don’t get me started on the bloody mary… in a small wine glass? Really? Sorry to say we’re not giving it another shot. $ 85 bill and we had to go home and eat.

Absolutely fabulous food, ambiance, service. Went for lunch Memorial Day. Recommend the sangria, mussels, strawberry tomato salad, short ribs and baby back ribs are divine. The red velvet cake was also wonderful. Hands off to our server Cat. AND, they have this incredible book collection you can browse and read. The only point on which I agree with negative comments I have read I’d that indeed we had to ask for bread.

Prefacing this with, the staff couldn’t be nicer. But our experience was not great. Service was very slow, it was 45 min before they brought bread(we had to ask) and an hour and a half before we were served our entrees. The ribs were so burnt and dry. The outer layer was thick and tasteless, like dense cardboard, while the meat closest to the bone was dry and stringy. There was no pink smoke ring, it was like a slab of slate. The mashed potatoes were gluey and the veg medley was a dice cube of carrot and parsnip, salt and fat, nothing special. Staff took back entrée very graciously and commented the whole side came out like that today and they wouldn’t eat it either. Points for awesome attitude and honesty. Suggested medallions of beef in Asian sauce. Meat was well cooked at medium rare with the same disappointing accompaniments but the sauce was dreadful– burnt soy sauce mixed with what tasted like thick, sugary hoisin. Unforgettable as burnt vinegar. But at the second hour we were too tired and savagely hungry to return it. Ultimately, the people are nice and I like the concept but since our two orders were pretty bad and the service is slow, I wouldn’t bring anyone here. — — - Oh and after reading some of the reviews, please note that the owner of the resto has an awesome attitude about reviewers. So make sure you know where you’re going. This is a direct copy of the owner replying to a 5 star review of this restaurant. They sound like fun folks. Also, it’s a «site», as in website, not a «sight». “Comment from _____Reviewer I have been here on 5+ occasions and enjoyed my experience every time. Rachel and Cross are my two favorite servers. I feel misinformed and deceived– I probably won’t come to this place again. My boyfriend and I started off with the Boylan sodas. I am not normally a soda drinker, but needed a sweet, sugary drink. My boyfriend ordered another soda and I stuck with water. Our waiter brought us two more sodas and proceeded to charge us for them. I did not want this nor did I ask– seemed like a shady trick to add a few bucks to the tab. We ordered the $ 10 escargot as an appetizer. It was ok. We had to ask the waiter for a bread basket that he forgot to give us. We saw a couple near by order large delicious-looking burgers. So my boyfriend ordered the Woody’s burger and I, the lamb sliders. Toppings are $ 1.50EACH so we declined to add anything to our burgers. My lamb sliders came as ONE burger… a puny one with a subpar chutney on top. I am a lady who loves a great burger; this burger certainly wasn’t up to my standards. Our burgers looked as if they were constructed by a gorilla, thrown on a plate with no care. I regret not taking a picture of the ill-constructed plates. We got skimpy side salads and two little pickle chips. My lamb burger came to $ 17!!! The lamb burger is NOT on the menu– the $ 14 lamb sliders that I ordered were– i assumed it was a mistake or change of menu– I guess it’s my fault for not asking sooner. After receiving the check, I was enraged. Our bill came to $ 50. $ 12 on sodas, $ 17 on the lamb burger, $ 12 for the Woody’s burger, $ 12 for the escargot that I was able to get back down to $ 10. This was $ 48 + tip not well spent. Either the staff is misinformed or there were shady gimmicks happening to add a few extra bucks on the check… needless-to-say it was an unfortunate night out for my boyfriend and myself.

This was our second visit to this Restaurant. My wife ordered half rack of ribs kale and mashed potatoes. I ordered the salmon dinner with mashed potatoes and string beans. Food was well prepared. The price however was a bit high my salmon was $ 26.00 the piece was a small serving a strip around 1 ½ wide. On top of that the wedge salad was $ 9.00. This restaurant is not in NYC $ 35.00 for the salmon dish I felt was high. They should at least give you a salad. How ever service was very good. I’m far from cheap just like to get what I pay for

This is one of those reviews corroborating the very spotty performance of FTT. Having only been there once, I feel under-qualified to give a fuller review — but out of 4 diners in one visit, none of us were happy with our meals. Execution errors left and right coming out of the kitchen(overcooked schnitzel, rubbery langostino, overly sour amatriciana sauce…) combined with slow, inattentive service and higher-end pricing for Dutchess County do not add up to a formula that will have me scrambling to come back. I guess the broader point is that many of the Unilocal reviews of FTT suggest that you are taking your chances when you come here — some people seem to get terrific meals that live up to the sumptuous descriptions on the menu, but many do not. I fell squarely into the latter category.

Apps and entrée were great. The place is much larger than it looks from the outside. I was very happy with the portion and service as well. Definitely worth checking out.

Enjoyed a Valentines Day date here last night. I was hesitant to try this place for the first time especially for Valentines Day given some of the latest reviews but I went ahead with it anyway. I must say the food was good nothing outstanding but good. We started with the mussels and followed with the beef short ribs with broccoli and mashed and the salmon with broccoli and mashed. Again, the food had good flavor(the glaze on the salmon was particularly delicious) and the mashed were okay too, as for the broccoli… steamed broccoli is steamed broccoli not much you can do with it. HOWEVER, the biggest complaint we both had was all of the food was cool/cold when it came to the table(except for the salmon.) The mussels AND the broth they came in were room temperate at best, the short ribs were not warm at all, the mashed were cool and a bit crusty because they were cold but I will say the salmon was hot when it came out but that’s the only thing that had any heat to it when it arrived to the table. We skipped dessert last night but the menu did have several options. I think overall I would go back and give it another shot just really hope that they can adjust the timing of the cooking/plating/serving. Oh and also service was good. Waiter was friendly, precise, and welcoming.

Given the very mixed reviews that this restaurant seems to score, we were a little hesitant to make a Saturday night reservation, but we were definitely there on an ON night, lucky for us! Hint for all of you self-appointed gourmands out there: if the menu lists escargot as an option, you should probably shift your expectations from the usual Applebee’s fare. There’s nothing wrong with Applebee’s — this is just a whole ‘nother level. High chairs and default bottles of ketchup are not on the menu, so kindly grow up. You had a kid, you made a choice, and you cannot expect the entire world to bend around your dumb choices. Ordered the Asian beef medallions and duck, and both were great. Escargot appetizer, which we’ve never had before, was really good as well. Book décor was great, servers were nice, atmosphere was quiet and comfortable. If there’s a single complaint, it’s that the serving plates were SOLARGE that my date and I could not comfortably sit across from one another, as the diameter of both plates combined was literally wider than the table we were sitting at. The quantity of food did not match that excess, but the food was definitely an appropriate serving. We also ordered two specialty drinks, and both were super strong — which is good! Everything was really good, and $ 100 later on a luxury Valentine’s Day dinner, we were not unsatisfied at all.

This was an average dining experience. I didn’t mind the décor as others pointed out but we sat in the more rustic area– it was comfortable. Service was very slow throughout the meal. The food was just ok. Calamari was probably the highlight. The mussels were very small and there wasn’t much flavor to the broth at all. It definitely needed some salt. The beet salad looked pretty but was really acidic. I personally would have liked a different dressing. A few people around us had steaks/ribs that looked good. Id come back to try other things but wouldn’t re-order any of what we had. The mixed drinks(Manhattan & Martini) were made very well!

Warm, welcoming, quiet. Neat restaurant, in the vein of the ‘slow food movement’. Farm to table, uses fresh ingredients, directly culled from the Hudson Valley. Came with a friend for quiet dinner. Got it. Unhurried atmosphere, delicious cuts of meat; flavorful salads. Night was slow, very few diners. Dessert menu needs work. Rebel Reviewer says: 4 stars.

This is a very challenging review to write. I had dinner here exactly 2 weeks apart, same day, same time, and it was two completely different dining experiences. The first night, we left thinking we had struck gold and found the best restaurant in the Hudson Valley. We brought friends back the next week and were completely embarrassed that we had raved about a place that was so barely mediocre, and often outright terrible. During our pleasant experience, we started with the Arthur Ave. It was filled with meats, cheese, and an assortment of pickles, olives, sundried tomatoes, and 4 pieces of honey and balsamic glazed toast. For meals we had the Chippino(tasty, but lacking pasta. A way we had never seen this dish served), the pork shop(flawless), and the beggars purse(fabulous). Then came dessert. We had the blueberry crêpe as well as the pear option. Both were delicious, however, the blueberry crêpe was out of this world, and like paradise, as was the homemade whipped cream. Enter, terrible experience. We started, again, with the Arthur Ave. This time, the dish had no pickles or olives, but rather some bagged carrot shreds and some pickled onions. It also only had 2 pieces of toast… for 4 people. For meals we had the beggars purse(still tasty, but with barely any peas this week), the cornflake fried chicken(so dry that it was basically jerky), the beef medallions(ok), and the bolognese(not so great). The fingerling potatoes, however, were very tasty. Even though the meals were meh, we still raved about the dessert. We all ordered the blueberry crêpe and nearly spit them out at the same time. They were basically sticks of philadelphia cream cheese, wrapped in dough and drizzled with blueberry. They also lacked whipped cream. I’ve never seen anything so completely opposite, or which made me gag so much on the way down. We asked the waitress if there was a different chef or what the issue could be. She said she had no idea, and truthfully, looked quite scared. We explained that we had been only a week prior and were so happy that we came back, only to be very surprised. She apologized and then asked if we liked our desserts since they were all still on the plates. We then explained that the pound of cream cheese on each plate made them inedible. She apologized again and took 2 off the bill. Both visits provided very nice service and a well decorated interior, the inconsistency of the food, however, is something that will prevent us from ever going back.

Currently my favorite restaurant near my NY apartment. This place has nailed every meal I had here and the best part is all the food is local grown. The menu rotates throughout the year and is aways aligned with the seasons and what you want to be eating at that time of year. Ambiance is lovely and the parking is ample. The setting is quiet in the dining room and appropriate in the bar area. I prefer to eat outside under the awning surrounded by the shrubbery that makes you forget your how close you are to Rte 9. Overall I would highly recommend this spot for dates, business meetings, and adult group settings. Probably not the most ‘kid friendly’ menu in the world but it’s not so adventurous that you couldn’t find something for little ones too! It’s a gem, and definitely worth a try; all the dishes I’ve had have been delish and I’m confident in highly recommending this for a great night out with an extremely enjoyable meal!

Nice enough looking place. The food was not exceptional. The service was sloppy. We were 14 people. Some were fined before others were served. My vegan daughter ordered off the menu, asking for a chefs creation. It was disappointing. Before our meal, we took a moment to meet the owner. He was not a warm host. With just a little fine tuning this place could sparkle. Nuff said.

Oh so bad. This place was just a mess. Let’s start with the décor. Although the bar and private events room are quite appealing, once you have time to really think over the décor you find that it’s utterly confused. 70% of the restaurant is a decorated like a rustic winery, 20% like a feminine country cottage, and 10% like an old school diner. Was the decorator unable to settle on one idea, or were there some sales going on that influenced the process? I don’t know, but I do know that there is absolutely no sense in the atmosphere. It’s not made any better by the old school rock being played either, which, by-the-way, was turned up during my visit without request. Big no-no servers. You don’t turn up music unless asked by customers. The restaurant is not your home, it is your work place. Rock out on your own time. Next, our server dropped off the specials menu without taking the time to explain the dishes. I get that the descriptions are in the menu, but there were no other guests in the restaurant, due to it having just been opened, so there was no excuse for not conversing about the menu. Ever heard of upselling? Yes servers, that is the thing you do when you want to make a better tip by increasing the size of the tab, while simultaneously creating rapport with your costumers. Oh wait, that’s right, you wanted to get back to chatting with the bartender about how much you love the music line up, so it’s understandable that you didn’t want to do your job… Moving on to the worst part of this dismal visit, the food. We ordered the country pâté to start. I prefer a smooth, spreadable pâté, but can enjoy the more solidified varieties given that they are spiced appropriately, and paired with complimentary flavors. The version at this little«farm to table» bistro did not in the slightest meet those expectations. First, the pâté was spiced with cumin. I’ve never in my life had pâté spiced with cumin, and will keep my distance from it from this point on. I’m a person who enjoys the subtle flavors of sweet spices mingling with herbs and savory liver in a classic pâté, so the addition of cumin to this combination is completely unappealing to me. Why? For those of you who don’t already know, cumin is a spice that will easily overpower a dish unless that dish maintains other flavors that are as bold. Pâté is all about delicate, aromatic flavors which balance and elevate each other while enhancing the best savory notes of liver while mitigating the worst. Cumin has no place in this mix. And to add insult to injury, the pâté at Farm to Table Bistro is served with gigantic dollop of sinus cleansing whole grain mustard and sun-dried tomatoes. I don’t think I need to go into exactly why these two additions only make this ugly dish uglier, so I’ll just move on. My friend ordered one of the specials for his brunch, the mushroom crepes. From the moment the dish arrived I could tell there was something wrong. For one, the bechemal was the consistency of plaster, and it was heavily laden with what appeared to be, and tasted like, cheap deli meat. After one bite, my friend and I also wondered how on earth the crepes could have been given the description of «mushroom», because there were so little of them that they scantly found there way into only a few bites of the whole dish. Sadly enough, my friend said he enjoyed their flavor, so had there been more he would have felt a little differently about the dish as a whole… not sure if the deli ham bechamel would have come across any better though. I order the octopus pasta special, which came out lukewarm, and more like a soup due to the pasta not being sufficiently drained. I didn’t get more than a few bites in before I just decided to eat at home later. Thankfully the server didn’t question my wish to have the dish taken back. That might have been his only redeeming quality during our visit. The only highlight of my experience at Farm to Table Bistro was the root beer. I can’t even remember the name of it, but by it’s pale color I can’t help but this it was Drink More Good by Jason Schuler; a Beacon, NY local who specializes in soda syrups. If I weren’t able to get my hands on the syrup for my home supply, I would probably go back to Farm to Table for another glass or two. Seeing as the Drink More Good store just opened in February, I’ll just head over there for a bottle of syrup and make my root beer myself.

Ate dinner at the restaurant tonight with my wife a and son and had a wonderful experience. The service was good and the the food was even better! The server made a few suggestions and we were very pleased with the outcome. I liked the décor and the ambiance was perfect. We really liked that the restaurant supports the local farmers etc. We can’t wait to go back with family and friends to share the experience. New favorite place.
