Most rude people I ever had the displeasure of dealing with!!! They advertise that they do private parties, so I wanted to see if they could host my rehearsal dinner for the day before my wedding(a Friday at 4pm). I am planning to have approximately 30 people there. I called several times without a call back and finally stopped in. I was told the owner or manager was«on his way» and waited over an hour, but he never showed up. Finally, the poor waitress(who was lovely) ensured me that the day I wanted was open and penciled me in, showed me the party package options(with prices) on their website and took my info, telling me she would have him call me when he got in. 3 hours later he calls and tells me that since the day I want is a Friday, rather than the advertised $ 26/head it would be $ 75.00PERPERSON. I say«wow that’s a little out of my price range» and before I can even say anything else the guy goes«ok, best of luck» and HANGSUPONME. First of all, if you don’t want private parties on Friday just say u don’t offer parties on a Friday! Secondly, there is no need for the rudeness! Not a good business choice to hang up on potential customers!

We are only in Fishkill, NY for a couple of nights and after looking at all the local Unilocal reviews, we decided to come to Trattoria Locanda. So, glad we did. It was Monday evening and it was a snowy day in April! We were staying at the local Hyatt House so we wanted something close. It was just the spot. Once we arrived there were few people there but everything on their plates looked great. We ordered a nice bottle of wine on the staff’s recommendation as the one we selected from the wine list was out. It was an more than adequate recommendation. They opened service with a delicious bread with an olive oil, garlic and zucchini dipping plate. Yum! We started with the fresh Mozzarella, tomato and basil(needed more basil) app which was great, especially the balsamic reduction drizzle. Our kids shared the ravioli with the marinara sauce and they enjoyed most of it, as always they got full on the great bread… My wife had the Chicken Marsala which she enjoyed and I had the Chicken Picatta. My wife was sad we were at a hotel and could not take the left overs home. The cannoli was a nice treat to finish. All in all, you cant fail choosing this place for a nice Italian meal. There is another Italian restaurant a few doors down, however, although we saw it and it rated well it had three $$$ and this location had two $$. For my money this restaurants quality was three $$$. I hope they don’t raise their prices and have people skip out because of the dollar rating. We skipped on the other place for this very reason. While we didn’t try the other Italian restaurant a few doors down, you cant miss going to Trattoria Locanda!

Love the food! It’s a small beautiful restaurant perfect for a date night. The food does take a while to come out but it’s well worth the wait. When you sit down they bring you nice hot rolls with an eggplant olive oil dip which I love!!! The owner is so cheerful and welcoming. The first time we went there we felt like we knew him forever. His wife and son are very polite and fantastic servers. We had the best wine we have ever tasted there and the owner recommended it to us he even said if we didn’t like the bottle he wouldn’t charge us for it. But we loved it! I have recommended this place to family and relatives and they all leave satisfied and happy 5

First time dining at this restaurant with friends. We really enjoying the cozy intimate atmosphere. The appetizer(portabella mushrooms with zucchini and fresh mozzarella) was delicious. Everyone enjoyed their entrees, the wait staff was attentive and prices very reasonable.

Locanda is hands down my favorite place to dine in Fishkill. When planning a special family outing, Locanda is our first choice, since they always give us the attention a special event requires. It’s relaxing, the menu offers a good variety, yet isn’t overwhelming and the food is consistently great. The owner is knowledgable of the wines they offer and always suggests one we will like. I recommend Locanda for sure!

This is probably the 6th or 7th time we have been here and every time gets better. We always sit in the window and surprisingly this is the second time the owner has sat at the table right next to us. After hearing the specials I requested the Scampi but I wanted the risotto and added the sautéed spinach, it was to die for. The fresh mozzarella was fantastic, I love balsamic glaze as opposed to just balsamic & oil, it’s just the right amount. The staff is friendly and helpful and the ambiance is romantic and comfortable. If you haven’t been here, give it a try, well worth it.

We had a similar experience as Dan M. Not once but twice now. They were out of many items on the menu.

Locanda, a quaint little restaurant right in the fishkill village. Definitely a cozy and intimate environment, the food was pretty good and the service was good as well.

Just had an amazing dinner here. Was recommended by Uncle Jimmy from fishkill liquor and wow did he do us right! Food was awesome, everyone loved their meal, service was spot on from Kathy and the owner was gracious and accommodating. We would highly recommend this establishment for a great meal and we will most definitely be back.

Giving 2 stars here might be a little generous. I did like the atmosphere. Rather cozy. For a Sunday night, there was a full house of diners. So there must be something about the food everyone else likes but me. I had the Stuffed Filet of Sole. Stuffed with Scallops and Shrimp in a Seafood Cream Sauce. In a nutshell, the meal was awful. Maybe its suppose to taste the way it did, but it was just not good. The stuffing was dry and I did not taste anything remotely like scallops or shrimp. The fish was a rather small filet that was over-cooked with a lot of stuffing. The sauce I had expected to be a «Seafood Cream Sauce» as advertised. There was nothing seafood about it. It tasted like cream of tomato soup. I did ask the waitress if there were mushrooms in the sauce. She said no but it did taste like it. It was just a poor tasting meal. Normally I would be more than happy go again and try something different, but our party of four also had poor meals. My wife and her sister had the Shrimp Scampi with Asparagus over Linguini. I am thinking shrimp scampi is made with olive oil with with garlic and maybe some butter. Again, the sauce tasted like canned cream of tomato soup. They too did not like their meal. My brother in law had the Veal Parmigiana. Lightly breaded veal topped with Mozzarella, in a Marinara Sauce. I have never seen him not finish a meal. He did not finish it and not because there was too much. None of us liked our meal. As for the salad, I asked for a garden salad with blue cheese dressing. The greens did not seem fresh. Not bad but I think it should have been better. As for the blue cheese dressing, I think they should have called it Mayo dressing with a chunk or 2 of blue cheese. On the very good side, they have an excellent selection of wines and they do serve mixed drinks. Service was pleasant. Not great, but nothing to complain about.

We have eaten here several times over the last year… The FOOD has always been great! The service was initially spotty but now they are getting a grooved swing! Our last dinner was outside and the service was perfect. We never felt forgotten and our glasses were always full. The only thing that I would improve is the front door to hostess station relationship. You enter in the middle of the table area and if you are unfamiliar you could wait a long time before recognizing that you need to walk in to the middle of the restaurant for a hostess. Other than that: Love it!

I had my bridal shower at Locanda this past weekend. Such an elegant place setting and the décor inside is cozy and intimate… from the wine bottles to the beautiful exposed brick walls. The food was delicious and the mimosas too. There was not a time that we had to call the server, Ashley over. Before the glasses were empty she was right there with a fresh filled glass. There were about 17 ladies and Ashley pulled it off flawlessly. Definitely a go to place for a nice brunch, catch up with some friends or an intimate date night. Thanks for everything with my bridal shower!

Ordered two entrees for take out last week. They sounded extremely busy over the phone, but the wait was only 20 mins. I had the Tortellini alla Panna(cheese tortellini in cream tomato sauce w/peas and prosciutto) which was amazing. HUGE portion, had tons of leftovers. My boyfriend had the Locanda Special(Grilled chicken with hot or sweet sausage and hot cherry peppers in a Marsala Wine Sauce) and he also liked it. Both orders came with Caesar salads which we swapped out for house salads with balsamic(very yummy dressing, cheese & olives– not a basic side salad) & the garlic bread that came with it was delish. Came to about $ 43 but the free garlic bread, salads, and huge portions made it worth it.

My family and I stayed in Fishkill for one night on our way to Boston and were very pleased to find this authentic Italian restaurant. It was pretty busy and loud-but hey-that really made it more authentically Italian. The food was really incredible and we enjoyed dishes including seafood, chicken, pastas and salads. Would definitely recommend!

Went 1st time for restaurant week. Nice ambiance and greeted immediately. Asked to sit wherever we like. Our waitress was incredibly friendly. Most of us did restaurant week menu. Plenty of standouts. Hot tail sauce is perfect! Calamari little rubbery for grilled but seasoned nice. All entrees wrre terrific. Locanda special is delicious. Nice balance of heat with a not overrating Marsala sauce. Sea bass was cooked perfectly and thier mash potatoes were tasty and not too creamy and not too lumpy. Desserts came after and thick chocolate cake and baklava gelato! Overall this is well above average and would definitely recommend going. 1 gripe is no carry in wine allowed when we called ahead and asked. When we arrived they wrre out of many wines on menu which I can understand. However I was rather upset when I saw a large table walk in(maybe the regulars Jeff E refers to in his review below), with their own wine bottles and saw the owner(I assume) assume greet them. Just have consistency in your policy. You either allow it or you don’t. Especially if one of the better wines recommended by your staff is a screw top merlot.

Can I give zero stars? Made a reservation for six and a child. On New Years Eve. We got to the restaurant on time and a party before us with reservations were also waiting outside. Reservations were not honored. Will never try this restaurant again. Very disappointed.
