During a quick day trip to Flagstaff, we decided to hit up a park for a shady tree sort of picnic. When we turned the corner, we were pleased to find this park full from an art festival with live music and food vendors. Despite being busy, we were still able to easily find a shady spot under one of the many trees. There’s also a cute little bridge to walk over. Parking wasn’t bad, but make sure that you don’t park in the 30 minute parking spot, that way you can take a short walk over to the nearby shops after you’ve finished picnicking.

This is a cute little park. Every time I’m in Flag there seems to be some kind of event happening in the park, and therefore I almost always end up here at some point. Always tons of people here with their dogs, and with their babies. Parking can be difficult if there is a festival or something going on, but you will find a spot eventually!

Cute, little park :) The hubby and I spent hours playing frisbee, reading, relaxing, and playing with our dog. Nice grassy areas with lots of shade from pine trees. The park was peaceful but yet had plenty of action. There were families playing soccer, couples just relaxing, and people eating at several picnic tables available. A great place to relax and enjoy the outdoors.

Ooh — Grass! Wheeler park is great for plopping babies into the grass to play/be adorable, or for taking naps in the shade on a hot day. I like stopping here as I drive into town.

Wheeler Park has always been a peaceful spot and holds many good memories. When I first moved to Flagstaff, it was one of the places I immediately found downtown and I ate take out from the China Barn on a regular basis while hanging out with friends in the area. It’s located near the library, easily accessible, and well kept. The park is transformed throughout the year to house various events. Various festivals take place on the grounds and it was even the kick off ground for the anti-war protests that took place during 2002/¾. Great location. Nice park. Take your dog, your kids, your dirty hippie frisbees and hacky sacks, your Chinese food. You can’t go wrong.
