We had a very nice experience here on a whim-ish pull-over on the way to visit family. I had the brisket plate — this was amongst some of the best brisket I’ve ever had, fall-apart-mouth-wateringly(if that is a word) good. They have a few BBQ sauces available but to be honest the brisket was so tasty it isn’t really needed. The various sides and salads were pretty good, but definitely the main event is what you show up for… Beware it is cash(or check… do people still use those??) only, so make sure to plan accordingly because this place is definitely worth a shot. Enjoy!

Hubba Hubba is set behind other buildings and is kind of like a little oasis. Lots of outdoor seating and on the day we went, it rained– a lot– but they have plenty of indoor seating as well. We were lucky to go on a day with not so great weather, therefore no long lines. Their pulled chicken is soft and melts in your mouth. Their fish tacos are so flavorful, you can barely taste the cod, which was practically falling apart on its own. Their cheese grits were delicious, and so were their biscuits. All of the sauces had something special, a personal fave(and the most popular sauce) is the carolina sweet sauce, and for good reason. It was amazing. Highly recommend!

I had my wedding reception here! It was a small family gathering and I wanted to keep it very informal. This was just the place! Food was really delicious, the portions were good and the staff was friendly and accommodating. The men all raved about the rack of ribs too.

The pimento cheese shrimp and grits are fabulous!!! Thanks for the warm outdoor space on this rainy, chilly day. We will be back!

Best BBQ around. We drive from Landrum/Greer to eat here. Their pulled pork and ribs are amazing. The rub is plenty good where you don’t even need sauce. But their sauces… are heaven. The mustard vase is probably my favorite but the chipotle and Carolina sweet are really good too. The cornbread, tangy beans and vinegar slaw are really great too. If you go on a Saturday in the summer try the smoked fish tacos… not as good as the bbq but they are the best fish tacos I’ve ever had. Great spot!

Awesome BBQ, choices of pork, chicken and beef. Several sides to choose from, pimento cheese grits and succotash were both tasty! Friendly, great service. Nice, outside patio area with large fireplace. Great to enjoy a sunny day in the mountains.

Flavorful food, great service and festive outdoor area as well as indoor seating. Pulled pork plate was tender and smokey taste was ideal with side or cornbread. Sauces are tasty and should try several of them. Also ordered the pulled pork bowl with cheese grits and collard greens was amazing. But the collard greens are so good I bought a To Go order and ate it later that day and it was just as good. Simply delicious food.

Came here for lunch because of the great reviews and long lines. Well total disappointment. The bbq was not good at all the sauces were thin and they all tasted the same. seating is outside so you are constantly battling flies. The baked beans were not even Luke warm they were cold and the potato salad had an over powering mustard flavor. The cornbread however was good and so were the bagged chips.

I really love his place — the BBQ is cooked perfect and the sides are delicious — everything is extra — ordinary including the beans and slaw — no canned crap here all made from scratch. The owner is super nice and is always making sure the guests and employees are happy. You could drive 100 miles to eat here as it is that good and the outdoor area is really nice — like a park in the mountains. Thank you for the effort you put into this — we will be back just not on a Sunday! HH

The best pulled pork in Western Carolina. The sides are sensational too. Kick back and relax with great food and local beer on tree shaded patio. If they only had a hammock …

Local BBQ Joint in a really cute courtyard connected to Flat Rock Bakery. The entrees we had were great– we had the Grits and Greens bowl and the Brisket, but I wasn’t over the moon about the sides. The vinegar slaw didn’t suit me and I love vinegar, and the corn medley was just not tasty. It’s rare that I don’t clean my plate with southern food and I just couldn’t get myself to finish the sides. Next time I will try the potato salad and collards. I would’ve been excited to see Mac and Cheese on the menu. The service was very friendly/fast and I hear that their catering(which is not limited to BBQ) is also great. They only have versions of grilled cheese for vegetarians, but that is probably a bit hard to expect at a BBQ joint. The biscuits and grits hit the spot and I will be back. It’s a nice place to spend an afternoon, and if you have room, you should creep over to the bakery next door and poke into the really cool store attached to it.

I was visiting Asheville on my annual GF road trip and Hubba Hubba was one of the places on my «must go here» list. We weren’t disappointed. The line was manageable at 2pm, and while we had to wait a bit for our food, it was worth it. I had brisket and pulled pork sliders that were juicy, smoky, and everything you want from barbecue. And the sweet tea is worth a trip all on its own. I probably would’ve given it 5 stars, except that the warm slaw was just kind of meh. I think that if I find myself at Hubba Hubba again, I’m going for more pork and a different side.

When you think of North Carolina, BBQ immediately comes to mind. Without surprise, Hubba Hubba Smokehouse should be in your mind whenever you are thinking of BBQ and have Carolina on your mind. Be sure to check the website or call ahead of time if you are bringing out of towners here. We were originally planning on hitting Hubba Hubba on a Friday evening, but they were closed to the public due to a rehearsal dinner, on the plus side Hubba Hubba was still accepting dine out orders. This place always seems packed, so be prepared to wait inline. If you are with a group have some people stand and order for everyone while others scope out a table. There are pliantly of tables in shaded areas versus sun. The classic pulled pork is a killer and unbeatable choice. I opted for a side salad which was absolutely incredible and I could eat that salad for the rest of my life; more of that please! I was impressed with the cornbread and only jalapeños would have put that over the top! Two things that are worth mentioning: the management, the sauces. 1. The management. I was so impressed. The owner came by our table to introduce himself and started to make small chat. Several more times he swung by to ask how everything was, if he could grab us more sauce, refills and take our plates. Really impressive! 2. The sauces. What kind of sauce are you feeling? Do you want something adventurous? Go cherry chipotle! Something normal yet refreshing? Carolina! Low key? Try the vinegar. The sauce bar is something I’ve been missing since I left. I can’t wait to try more next time I’m back!

I gotta admit, this place DOES give you wood-burning smokehouse flavor, like the best of the mobile smokers. I’ve actually dined here five or six times, over the years, and it’s consistently great. The meats are decently juicy, but I haven’t tried the brisket, a risky endeavor with any smoker, as brisket is pretty low-fat to start with. They are rightfully proud of their flavor, but provide a series of sauces anyway. I tried a cherry chipotle with my pulled pork, and while it was good, I liked the sauceless flavor, just about as much. Their vinegar based herb/spice marinated slaw has a nice flavor, but I like 12 Bones’ version better. But the collard greens are so fresh and tasty, I glanced around for the greens patch, equal to 12B, and better than Luella’s. I love the 1930’s roadhouse ambience of these three side-by-side businesses, HH Smokehouse, the incredible Flat Rock Village Bakery and the Wrinkled Egg restaurant. While the smokehouse is not a restaurant per se, it has just about all the amenities. There are lots of outdoor tables in the lovely shaded dining area. Just gotta watch out for the flies that come to feast on the food(and the trash). They need to try the«penny in a ziplock bag of water» trick above each table, and/or create a fly trap area nearby. Other than that, this mélange of local dining spots is a real gem, enough to attract me from the zippier roads that bypass Hendersonville and Flat Rock. If you’re looking for a great local daytrip, use this place as your resting/dining spot, take the tour(and explore) the Carl Sandburg house, and a tour of nearby waterfalls, like Looking Glass Falls, Triple Falls, Hooker Falls, etc. Yeah…

When we eat Bbq it’s always Hubba Hubba’s. It’s perfect. It’s famous. Get there early to avoid the wait. Beer is served and you can bring your own wine.

Very cool place had the bbq pulled pork plate with slaw and beans. Slaw was a bit basic for my taste but pork was flavorful good smoke taste and vinegar sauce accented it well. Friendly staff and quick service added to the visit. The wandering chickens were a nice touch.

Apparently Southern Living has ranked Hubba Hubba as one of the top 10BBQ places in the south. I see why! We drove out to Flat Rock today after hearing rave reviews. We got there around 11:30 and probably a dozen folks were already there. The parking is plentiful and the setting is charming. There’s lots of seating around a courtyard, plus some covered areas that are almost indoors. There’s chickens running around which like to beg for food. If you don’t mind them, they’re kinda cute. If you do mind them, they’re still not bad. We decided to order the pulled pork platter, with beans and cole slaw, and the half-rack of ribs platter, with potato salad and deviled eggs. You also get bread with each order so we got the cheddar biscuit and the cornbread. With a beer and a coke it was still around $ 30, which is pretty good. From least to best, let’s start with the cole slaw. It was pretty weird. Neither of us liked it, but there wasn’t really anything wrong with it. The beans were good. The potato salad was made with red potatoes and was pretty good. All of these weren’t bad, but hardly amazing on their own. The cornbread and biscuit were both amazing. They were moist, flavorful, and clearly fresh. The deviled eggs were equally good. They had cumin or something, which was nice for sure. The ribs were awesome. They were smoky, thick, and delicious. They also had a ton of meat on them, like a crazy awesome amount. This being said, everything was crap compared to the pulled pork. No joke. By far, the best I have ever had. It was almost too amazing for words. I didn’t want to put any sauce on it, because it was so good. I did, to try the sauces, and regretted it. Highly recommend; seriously, I cannot recommend enough. They have six sauces. All are pretty good and you should certainly try each and every single one. By far, the best is the cherry sauce. It’s sweet, tangy, and has a great kick of cherry. Also, they only take cash, which a lot of folks complain about, but there’s an ATM on site. If you’re within two hours of this place, go visit it. You can thank me later.

We have been here several times now and it has been great every time. Great place but I had to hold back 5 stars because of the the following two things. 1: Increase the options for kids menu 2: Accept credit/debit Or at minimum say cash/check only on you information message voicemail. The food really does shine here. Good smoke, good dry rub and good sauce. While standing in line at SkyTop I recommended this place to 4 people who all showed up while we were there eating. I didn’t get to ask all of them but the two I did talk to said they would be back too.

VIBE: BBQ heaven. Order at window, pick up at next window then side outdoors on picnic table, under patio roof or upstairs on veranda. ORDERTHE: beef brisket, collard greens and potato salad. Corn bread is very sweet, more like cake than real corn bread. Southern Living magazine rated them #11 in their 2013 ‘Cue Awards. I agree!
