This is our go to restaurant before a show at the Flat Rock Playhouse. Last night, eight of us dined on cocktails, wine and assorted appetizers and entrees. One couple was celebrating an anniversary so we shared a beautifully presented and delicious assortment of desserts, also. My friends all raved about their dinners. I ate every bite of my tempura soft shell crab special. You don’t often see soft shell crabs on a menu in the mountains! Thank you, Season’s, for the special treat. The table was set nicely; the background music was soft and nonintrusive and our waiter Jay provided 5 star service! It was a delightful and memorable evening.

Very pricey for mediocre food– $ 275 for 4 with 1 bottle of wine, 2 were kids. We travelled here for vacation from Washington DC. We are used to paying high prices for quality food, and do not mind doing so. However, the quality just wasn’t there. In the other hand, the service was fantastic! Very attentive and personable staff that met our every need. There were four of us and we all started with the Grilled Caesar salad. It was tasty and the grilling added an interesting and tasty. Small portion and lacked wow factor. We each had steaks for dinner: 2 Ribeyes, 1 filet, and one New York strip. The meat was lifeless, thin and lacked any marbling… probably Select beef. The sides were also uninspiring.

Our travel group of 10 dined at Season’s Friday night, September 18, 2015. The restaurant and surrounding grounds are quite lovely. A visual delight from the get go! We were seated at a long table in the front room and for a long time we had the room to ourselves. This was just great because cross table conversation was quite possible because the noise level was very low. Our waiter was pleasant and efficient with one minor exception(see below). I believe everyone enjoyed their food choices. I had the pork chop which was one of the best I have ever had. My husband’s halibut was a bit dry but tasty nonetheless. We ordered one of each of the five desserts for the table to share. I believe everyone’s favorite was the peach turnover with panna cotta… So yummy! Our dinner bills were messed up(my husband’s dinner was on another couples bill) but since we were on our way to The Flatrock Playhouse for the evenings performance, and we were running a little late, there was no time to get the bill rectified. Not a huge deal. We would highly recommend that you have dinner here especially if you are on your way to The Playhouse.

I got four scallops for $ 28.00, service was fairly poor. I would not reccommend this restaurant. $ 7.00 per scallop and they were small.

We’ve frequented Seasons often when we first moved here 2 years ago. It’s a stunning setting and the ambience reminds us of rural Connecticut B&B restaurants that we miss. That’s the primary reason for the 4 star ambience. Tonight we dined with friends at dinner after a several month hiatus. The food was very good, nicely presented. The 30 $ bottle wine special was nice, even though it was a $ 10 retail bottle of wine. Service was professional and friendly. Seasons is a great place for a larger group who want very good cuisine in a great location. It remains expensive relatively speaking. And the newer restaurants sprouting up in Hendersonville will surely take some of the local traffic. If you are visiting the mountains go enjoy a special night at Seasons. Especially I can recommend Sunday brunch, it’s still the best around for creative excellent cuisine. If you have a larger group check it out, they do a great job.

It’s always difficult to criticize a popular restaurant but, the Seasons was a disappointment. Based on a personal recommendation and the Unilocal reviews we were so looking forward to a special anniversary dinner. Starting with the watered-down cocktails and the ordinary pan bread the dinner set a low threshold that was never crossed. The shrimp appetizer came with an aioli and cilantro sauce that lacked character. The duck entrée with wild mushrooms was very good except for the red pepper coulis which seemed flat. The gnocchi was a total miss. The rib eye was well cooked but tough and the chimichurri was unusually sugar sweet and lacked any tangy compliment to the meat. The roasted potato was so overcooked that it was inedible. Service was pleasant and prompt. The restaurant wasn’t busy and the noise level was very comfortable. The setting is lovely. Including a wine split the bill was $ 140 plus a $ 25 tip. Food was approximately $ 90 which seemed high considering the lack of quality. Really uncertain if we would give the place another chance when there are so many other options in the area.

The food is delicious. The scenery is beautiful. The prices are high. And the management does not give a rip if your meal is disturbed by noisy diners, so noisy that they were 3 tables away ! We left before dessert or coffee because we were tired of yelling at each other and repeating the same sentence. This is not a restaurant for the college crowd but we felt as if we had gone back in time. The management needs to «manage» these unpleasant situations or Seasons will lose loyal customers.

Don’t let the atmosphere fool you. The food is excellent and the atmosphere grows on you. We enjoyed every bite from the foccacia bread to the main meal of lamb and curried scallps. We did not have dessert. Everything was cooked as requested, and the flavors were wonderful, even the sides. We loved our waitperson Michael. I am so happy we found a local place that provides great food.

Oh, how we love this place. A different menu each night. Organic garden on site so lots of original dishes. Sauces are excellent and a perfect complement for the dish. Presentation and plate arrangement always amaze. Service is excellent. Prices are within reason for the food and the ambience. We’ve celebrated many events at Season’s: National Board certification; end of school year for many years; 60th birthday parties;Christmas; just glad to be alive, etc. Most accommodating staff. We love it and return at least 3 – 5 times per year.

Went there for Christmas day brunch. Needed reservations, which was expected, but were seated before our actual time. What impressed me the most was that everything was fresh and homemade. You could taste the care and time put into the selection of items. Everything was great, but the spinach salad was to die for. The best I ever had. Great service and super friendly staff. Would recommend,

While driving back from an art fair in Greenville, SC, my wife and I decided to stop at the Season’s for a late lunch. We arrived right at 2PM on Saturday, very close to the end of their lunch service. Being a beautiful spring day, the restaurant was full, but we were lucky they had an open table for two right next to the window looking over the gardens which were full of flowers, birds, squirrels and bees. What a gorgeous setting for a meal! Humorously, we were accidentally given the dinner menus, which we had a chance to look over before our waitress apologetically replaced them with the lunch menu. The dinner menu was a great choice of beef, pork, two fish dishes and fowl … but that description doesn’t do them justice. Simply looking at that fabulous menu made me want to come back for dinner! Comparing the lunch and dinner menu was interesting. The lunch menu had a terrific selection of sandwiches, soups and sandwiches. The soup was a bean and smoked pork soup which was truly fantastic. I had their special burger and seasoned fries. Wow. Beautifully seasoned and cooked meat, with cheese and smoky bacon(which makes any food better!). This was accompanied by beefsteak tomato(which was ripe, juicy and delicious all by itself), homemade pickles and delicious locally grown lettuce. My wife had the soup and salad, a description which does not do it justice. It is amazing how using very fresh, locally grown ingredients can make a simple meal something to write home about. Combine delightful food with charming service and a view that is, in itself, worth the trip, and you have truly fine dining at its best. By the way, what makes the attentive, great, smiling service even more interesting is that the Inn was hosting a wedding(which the kitchen was putting the finishing touches on) while serving a full house lunch AND preparing for hundreds of reservations for Mother’s Day dinner! Wow, this place is good! Okay, I gave them 5 stars for lunch. Can I give them 6 stars for dinner? That will have to wait for later, because I will definitely be back.

Great imaginative mountain cuisine. Pricey but special. Nice atmosphere, large and well designed spaces. Have rooms for every size group, let them know what you are looking for. Service was incredible. Reservations recommended. Our family was given an intimate, private room for the special occassion of my mother’s 87th birthday.

This is your classic resort-style restaurant, with well-conceived conventional American haute-cuisine. The entres have the standard veg-starch-protein with high value on both flavor and presentation. Good use of local ingredients. The food was very good. The highlight was a Ceasar salad, with lightly grilled hearts of romain, onions caramelized in Balsamic, and the best croutons I’ve ever had. A bouillabaisse was pretty good, but they hammered the shrimp, and used Cobia which contributed little to the dish. Fried oysters were stated to be in tempura batter, but bore little resemblance to tempura. Basically just regular fried oysters, but they were good nevertheless. I initially thought the duck confit, done pan-asian, was kinda played-out, but came around to find it nicely done. Finished with sweet-and-sour sauce(eh), accompanied by braised local bok choi and turnips(great). The wine list, including wines by the glass, was excellent. Many solid affordable choices. The staff, however, was not very knowledgable, so you’re best on your own. But they were very attentive and nice and sweetly southern.

I stayed at Highland Lake Inn with family for a few days last week. I have many wonderful things to say about the property, but for the purposes of this review, will stick with one memorable evening at Season’s. We began with a stint at the bar and thoroughly enjoyed a beautiful smoked salmon carpaccio with a glass of Spanish Tempranillo. The salmon was served with a variety of flatbreads and capers(I’m not kidding) the size of grapes. The combination of flavors was phenomenal; frankly I’m still craving this dish. The wine was a perfect match, competently suggested by the affable bartender. While feasting on this hors d’œuvre we listened to a guitarist playing jazz standards. Off to a memorable dinner! There were six of us: Four of us began with a delicious gazpacho – having been raised in Spain, I appreciated that the chef got the complex mix of flavors just right. One person ordered the onion soup – not a French onion soup with the cheese and bread, mind you, but a rich blend of onions into a creamy goodness drizzled with molasses(which worked perfectly) and accented with smoked trout. I had but a small taste(watching the diet – sort of) but it was absolutely to die for. As for the main course, I had the seafood risotto, a delicious mixture of saffron based rice accented with scallops, prawns, crab and clams. My wife had the award winning bison osso buco which was like a perfectly cooked, falling off the bone tender short rib. Others in our party wanted a traditional steak dinner – one ordered the sublime NY steak and the other had the mouth watering rib-eye. I sampled each and can vouch for their quality and tastiness. My sister ordered the seared diver sea scallop salad, which appeared generous with the shellfish. My brother in law had the cheese plate which offered a variety of cheeses and breads for his nibbling pleasure. We paired this extravaganza of food with a Napa County Crossbarn Cabernet, complex and perfect with the bison and steak. Our server, Troy was a true professional: knowledgeable, attentive at all the right times,(no constant interruptions or the inevitable, «How’s everyone doin?») while maintaining a welcoming and efficient manner. Season’s is a great place to relax and unwind at the bar, enjoy good times with family, or impress a date without breaking your bank. Can’t wait to return!

Beautiful location! Quiet and low key. The presentation and selection of the Sunday buffet was lovely but the food is mediocre for the price you pay. Waitress was friendly and attentive.
