Great local restaurant. Definitely had that homegrown feel with all the regulars and the casual service. We got a kids monster burger, which is actually huge compared to most places. It was nearly the size of the adult bacon cheeseburger we ordered. I got the chicken pot pie, LOVE the homemade crust! The chicken inside was large plump pieces. The flavor inside was a little bland, seemed like it’d be better if they incorporated celery. They gave us free fresh from the oven cookies!

Really do like this place. Everything I’ve ever gotten has been good. They are known for the Chicken Pot Pie, & it is probably the best thing I’ve gotten here. My only issues are, that service is not the best @ times & sometimes the place doesn’t seem clean, especially the restrooms? This is a great late nite, weekend place.

EVERYTHINGISHOMEMADE. Every soup is unbelievably good. Broccoli cheddar is amazing, as well as their italian sandwich and hockey fries. Fries covered in cheese sauce homemade beef gravy and pot roast. Yum The pot pies are great, but when they run out thats it, they are gone for the night. Only reason i gave it a 4 is due to service. We generally have to ask for refills long after they are gone, and the server seems to check on you less and less. Food is amazing Service needs work

My sisters my mother and I made a visit to Pipers for lunch after making our annual visit to Michigan Memorial Cemetery to put a wreath on my father’s grave. To go and get a hot chicken pot pie at pipers was always one of his favorite things to do. This time I got the beef pot pie which I really loved. My mother had a Reuben sandwich, which she seemed to really enjoy. I’ve never been a Dan of corned beef but I may give it a try to see if my taste buds have changed. The thing that intrigued me about that was the beautiful marbled bread that it was served on. That’s what actually made me think gee maybe I should try that again sometime. Both my sisters got the chicken pot pie and they seemed to really enjoy that. The wait staff seemed to be very friendly and outgoing and that I really appreciate that in a restaurant. Our waitress let us know if you joined their program along Big Bear your combined points get you big savings. Also guess what? The coup de Gras Friday is cookie day. Free hot cookies for dessert. Now that’s what I call a Sweet deal! barn

Soups are delicious here! My favorite is the Canadian cheddar, but since the soups change daily, they don’t always have it. They also make an amazing chicken pot pie that’s cooked in a ceramic bowl. You can also order them to go(cooked in a tin foil bowl). The crust is so good, perfect texture and flavor, and The filling is really tasty.

Stopped in for breakfast for the first time, it was average. The hashbrowns had a funny taste and we told our waitress who in turn told a couple of other wait staff. At check out one of the waitresses was determined to argue the fact that they change their oil every day and no one else had complained all morning so it must be the taste buds. My hashbrowns were fine but my partners were well done, as requested. However, the well done crispy hashbrowns tasted like they came out of the deep fryer and the oil was getting old. We weren’t trying to get a free meal we just thought any food establishment would want to know if there was an issue. Instead we got an argument out of this waitress and were told we were rude. We left and won’t be back.

So tonight I was in the mood for a sandwich so the wife and I checked out this place tonight it was about 6PM on a Friday. We walk in the place and I’m thinking that I’m seeing an old country style place. We were greeted right away and seated. I don’t always go with the specials but it was Clam soup and a crusted Salmon. I tried the soup and I enjoyed it. We also ordered some Southwest eggrolls that had good flavor. I had the Turkey Avocado sandwich and when I took my first bite of the food I totally forgot about how the place is outdated with the décor. My wife had the chicken pot pie. She said was one of the best she ever had. The waitress was at our table non stop asking if we needed anything. Now most of the crowd in here were senior citizens but I would suggest that a younger crowd should check this place out. The food was really good.

The food is amazing. It is expensive, but as a special treat, it is 100% worth it. The service is all right. Everyone has an off day, I guess. The Italian sub is wonderful and so are the garlic parm fries.

This place is great! Homey feel, not big but has homemade food! I typically get a sandwich(Black Russian) and a side cole slaw or potato salad. Never had a bad meal here. Servers are friendly and attentive. The prices are fair for the quality. I love this rarely go downriver without stopping here.

Pipers has been a staple in the Flat Rock area for many many years. It was the perfect place for a visit with old friends. I ordered the turkey avocado sandwich with fries. The sides aren’t included with the sandwiches so you have to order separate side items. The sandwich was really good. It is nicely toasted with plenty of filling. The turkey is piled high with fresh avocado. Delightful! I also split some of the Neapolitan Cake with the girls. It was so beautiful from afar that I couldn’t take my eyes off of it. Well, the cake part was good but the frosting was not the best. It really looked better than it tasted. Very unfortunate. Our waitress was just ok. We had to ask a few times for drink refills. After she dropped off our bill she didn’t come back. We still wanted to order dessert after our meals. We had to flag her down for our additional food order. Lucky for her we were honest enough to pay for the desserts even though she forgot to charge us for them. Even though Pipers has been there for years, I think it’s time to revamp the dining area. Really needs updating. I do think there are some better options in the area with better service and food.

I’ve been to Pipers a few times. The soups are very good! I really like the white chicken chili. I have also had the southwest chicken salad very good served with a mexi salsa ranch, a very generous portion. With that being said they are a bit pricey for the type of place they are. A family of 4 can plan on dropping at least 50 bucks. There is a saving app you can text to check in and you get 5.00 off after you’ve spent 50.00 kinda a buggy type app and kind of a pain but it is something…

We just had breakfast there. I had the spinach mushroom cheese omelette and my wife had the potato pancakes. Wife said they have the best Potato pancakes(at any price) she had ever eaten and my omelette was excellent. Great hash browns too. Good service, clean place nice atmosphere. As far as diners go in their class and price range(for two and under 20 bucks), for breakfast anyway this one is tops.

Pipers holds a special place in my heart because this is the place where Mom and I most often ate after her chemo treatments. The waitresses recognized us and asked how Mom was doing. The consistent comfort food was a much needed hug. Their chicken pot pie kicks ass. You can get it to go too. I also enjoy their chicken salad in fruit with their fun little quick bread side. Fried chicken basket is nice also.

I visited Pipers for lunch for the first time on recommendation from a friend. On a Thursday noon-ish there were only 6 or so tables full. The hostess was very friendly and our waiter was nice and attentive. The atmosphere was cute, clean and attractive. That’s where the good aspects end. I ordered the chicken salad on croissant. It came out in record time. The croissant was cold from the fridge, soft and mushy. Not even remotely flakey. The chicken was dry and in such large chunks that I had to open up the sandwich and eat it with my fork. The«mandarin slices» were so dry and old I couldn’t chew them, and I think I had one or two little walnut pieces total. The dressing was the most bland i have ever tasted — if i had to guess I would say it was low fat mayonnaise and nothing else. Not even salt. The kitchen was generous with the leaf lettuce; a single redeeming quality of the meal. The sandwich was also served with a slice of tasteless cantaloupe. In February. I wonder why it didn’t taste good. I was still hungry because I couldn’t finish my sandwich, and thought a piece of pie would be good. But when I asked, the waiter informed me the pies are from Gordon’s. Yuck. I passed. I guess I should have tried the chicken pot pie, but don’t think I will be going back. Pretty disappointing food experience, even for downriver.

Pipers has been around for many many years, and the food has slowly gone from average to below average. You can only cut corners so much before it starts diminishing the quality of the end product. Pipers used to be 24⁄7 and had a booming«bar rush» business. They are no longer open all night. The food slide began with the onset of the oversized black plates and huge chunks of fruit as a garnish on nearly everything. Stick with breakfast. The waitstaff seems miserable. All I can say is the fish rots from the head down.

I came here the other week with a friend that is from New Boston. We settled on this place because we are broke. I mean really really broke and this place is pretty darn cheap. The food at this place is okay. It’s not spectacular, but it’s not terrible. I mean to be fair you really are getting what you are paying for. Our waitress had quite a bit of attitude. We were the only younger people in this place at the time, but we are also 27, so in comparison to the +65 crowd we are young. We had the exact same meals to even make the waitresses job easier. We learned that asking for coffee is apparently a big pain in the arse to ask for. It took us over 5 minutes to get the coffee. I had to also ask for them a second time. In between asking for them our waitress went back to the two other tables she was waiting on – twice. That was slightly irritating. Either way if you are in the area and need a cheap breakfast meal I would say this place is as good as any. I mean, really, how many different ways can you cook an egg breakfast? It’s pretty hard to screw that up.

The BEST chicken pot pie I’ve ever had! Every time I go here I try to order something else but I just can’t do it, the pot pie is my favorite & I drive over a half hour to get it. You can also buy them to take home & cook on your own but of course they don’t turn out the same as when you order them in the restaurant. They have a large menu so if chicken pot pie isn’t your thing you’ll definitely be able to find something. The restaurant is on the small side so you may have to wait for a table but it’s totally worth it.
