Fanta Cisse African Hair Braiding

Totally love my braids! Fast, neat, and done right. I got med butt length box braids. Mimi is awesome! This place is pretty popular but they do have a lot of braiders.

I’ve been there three times. The first time was okay, my hair came out good because I kept checking in the mirror how the lady was doing it. She had a bit of an attitude in the beginning or seemed has if she didn’t want to do my hair. My hair lasted me 1 ½ months. The second time, my hair came out okay. I asked for the same exact thing I got the first time but she didn’t do it that way, it was much smaller and the hair texture was different than last time. Even though I told them. That lasted me 1 month. Now the 3^rd and LAST TIME which was pretty recent (March 5) I got the same hairstyle just different hair texture which I asked for. I wanted my twist medium size. The lady showed me a medium and it was extremely small, she said it’s because the hair braiding texture. I don’t think that should be an excuse. Eventually she got the size I wanted. She was talking so much while doing my hair, took a break which was understandable but her time management was really bad. I was there all day, 3:30 till 9 something. It just didn’t make sense, I asked her if she thinks she’ll be finish by 8. She said she doesn’t know and continued moving the same pace. I was extremely upset and she seen that. After literally THREE WEEKS of having the twist in my hair, I’m removing it. They’re coming out on it own. I even went back there less than a week after I got it done because two came out. The owner told me I had to sit and wait for the lady that did my hair to finish someone else hair. The lady was doing micro box braids in someone’s hair, it was ridiculous that I had to wait when she was no where close to being done. I ended up leaving and the owner stopped me, she told the the lady to re twist whatever is loose. She had such an attitude. The owner apologized to me. I honestly left and told myself I will not come here again. I’m such a nice and understanding person but they got me to an extreme. Much more upset I wasted my money $ 150 to be exact. People did say I should’ve went to Harlem, better and CHEAPER.

They did an amazing job w braiding my hair its my go to place and all the ladies who work here are hella sweet.

1^st time I came here it was ok i left a nice tip. 2^nd time i came the owner (Fanta) was not in and the staff were rude as hell. I over heard a woman complaining and asking the women that was braiding her hair to be a little more gentle the woman replied in a nasty tone «this is how its done what do you want me to do».
I paid 120 for box braids two months ago and went back yesterday and they told me the price was 180 I told them and showed them pictures of my hair explaining how much i paid and they continued trying to get me to pay more than the last time. I paid 120 after telling them several times.
the woman that braided my hair was extremely loud and yanked my hair saveral times.
The staff at this place are rude and lazy.
Call before you go to make sure the owner Fanta is there.
Honestly I do not recommend this place I hope the service gets better.

Went there last night intending to get some crochet braids (not even sure if they do them as I forgot to ask). I got there at 8:30 and as it was late opted out of anything that would you knew take all night. I asked for a very specific style and even showed them a picture. Though I like it better than I did initially I still don’t love it and will take it out in a week. Was charged $ 10/​braid so $ 60. I realize my hair isn’t the same texture so wouldn’t look exactly the same, but I do not like the level of work that was done. The braid aren’t symmetrical or braided the same level of tightness etc. I wouldn’t go here again and I won’t recommend it to anyone. The lady that was doing my hair was incredible loud and talked over my head until the look on my face must have said I’m about to walk out of here. Also I asked them to grease my scalp prior to each braid and was met with attitude. I had to tell them my scalp must be greased. The second star is simply because they accepted late clientele. I saw other people who’s hair looked decent but the service definitely left much to be desired.

Everytime I get my hair braided, I always go to this place. Now my sister has her hair braided here too. It’s great !

Worst African hair braiding I’ve ever been to! Don’t come here if you’re natural! I arrived at 2pm they didn’t not start my hair until 5 pm, despite the fact that at least three of them were free. One also had a bad attitude when I told her not to comb out my 4c hair with a small, dirty comb because it was already detangled and blown out! Another one refused to do the hair style that I wanted which was short box braids with burnt ends! It’s just unprofessional and disrespectful! I am the customer and what I want to do with my hair should not be a problem.

I’m looking forward to getting my hair braided her tomorrow morning. This will work for me while I am out of the metro city of NY. I called at 9:30 and Fanta answered the phone. I got there and one of the operators was mopping the floor. I WAS IMPRESSED:} Fey, came in a few minutes and told me that she was going to be doing my hair. She was very kind and decided upon an excellent style for me:} Fanta only takes cash. The shoppe is up some steps and it is kind of a small community mall. There is a man in there who makes beautiful African clothes. The bathroom is tinee tiny, but this is NYC… Welcome to New York.

My wife goes to Fanta’s whenever she wants to get her hair braided. Fanta provides professional friendly service and great prices. We have recommended many family and friends to go to her.

I love this place. The hairstylists are nice and great at what they do. This is the only place that I get my hair braided in Brooklyn. The hair is provided with most hairstyles and they are open 7 days a week. It really doesn’t get much better than this.
Fanta is so nice and remembers her customers, which is a true sign of amazing customer service and business ownership!
