Five Star Laundromat

The pick-​up and drop-​off service here is great. They are very nice and the clothes come back perfectly folded and smelling fresh and clean. I think their prices are lower then many other laundromats in the neighborhood. The only draw back is they are not always available for pick-​up right when you need it. Sometimes you need to be flexible but they are very nice. I’ve also done laundry there and had no problem at all. There is usually space and they are friendly with my kids. Definitely recommend this place!

I just moved to the area and Five Star Laundromat on the corner of Church Ave and Stratford is the closest laundromat. Since I was planning to do my own laundry, I didn’t think there was much that could go wrong. I was quite surprised by my first experience at this place.
There is a large white sign posted in the window. It says, in bold red lettering, «Open 7 Days 7AM-​10PM.» I went back and forth to this laundromat, switching laundry, and went back at about 8:50pm to pick up my loads of laundry from the dryer. I found the gates down and the place completely closed, with my clothes and towels still in two dryers. I knocked on the front gate, knocked on another gate around the corner where a passerby told me the owner lived, called the laundromat phone number — all with no answer. I called again about 10 minutes later and a girl picked up. She told me the place closes at 9, and that if no one is there 15 minutes before 9, they close. First problem, the sign out front clearly states 10pm as closing time. I’m new here so I would have no way of knowing the «actual» time is 9PM. Second problem, I got there before 9PM to get my clothes! The phone conversation ended with the owner telling me to come back in the morning. She opens at 7am.
My boyfriend and I went back to the laundromat at 7am, only to find the gates closed AGAIN. We waited at least 15 minutes — in the pouring rain. When the same girl from the day before finally showed up and opened, she didn’t even acknowledge us. She didn’t say hello, she didn’t apologize. On our way out, I asked her what her hours are. She said she closes at 9pm. When I pointed out that the sign says 10pm and that I was there at 8:50pm and couldn’t get my clothes, she just brushed me off and went about her work. She could not have cared any less that a customer wasn’t happy with the service.
While I can’t comment on the drop-​off service, this is not the type of place or person that I would trust to hand off my laundry to.
