Oddly, if I search Unilocal for bagels in Flemington, this store does not show up in the results. You have to search for it by name. I probably shouldn’t review the place, because all I had was a cinnamon raisin bagel with cream cheese and a cup of coffee, but it they were fine. They also make sandwiches with Boar’s Head products, so those should be good. The coffee is Lacas, according to the label on the carafes. Price was reasonable. There is some seating, but it’s not particularly cozy. On this winter’s day, the place was also on the chilly side, which didn’t help. They should perhaps install a space heater.

People must not Unilocal much out this way, because I am rather surprised at the lack of reviews for this excellent bagel shop! My girlfriend introduced me to this place back in the winter, when she shared some rather delicious bagels with me. However, I didn’t stop in to the store until recently to pick up a bagel sandwich to bring along on a hike in the Lehigh Valley. Flemington Bagel Company’s bagels are pretty close to the«real deal»: crispy on the outside, doughy on the inside, and toppings are flavorful/well-seasoned. I was pleasantly surprised to find that they use high quality meats and cheeses here. The grilled chicken with provolone sandwich I typically order was as good as I have had anywhere! Service is friendly and courteous and orders are filled quickly and efficiently. The shop is a bit off the beaten path — well, at least by New Jersey-standards ;) — and I have never had to wait longer than 10 minutes for my order to come out. I have interacted with the same woman(possibly the owner?) on every occasion and I get the sense that she really cares about the customers she serves. Lastly, I find the prices extremely reasonable here. The same bagel sandwich which costs a whopping $ 10 at the bagel shop near where I live is under $ 7 here and it is a relief to see that Flemington Bagel Company does not try to nickel and dime its customers by charging extra for cheese, toppings, etc. as is often the case elsewhere. I will definitely be returning any time I am in the area, likely before future hikes!

If you want an authentic New York City bagel this is the place to go. This was the best bagel I have had since leaving the city 20 years ago.
