New Jester’s Lounge

New Jester’s Lounge in Flint, Michigan captures location and atmosphere for locals. It gives its patrons a full dose of dark interior laced with neon beer signs, pool tables, an elevated DJ booth and, finally, an elevated dance floor complete with double-​rails surrounding it… AND… Poles! Yes, dance poles… or in some circles… stripper poles. This would be unimagineable for many but I lived and worked in Flint from 1981 — 1985. Not much has changed and beer drinking, dancing witcho honey and riding motorcycles in summertime is the cat’s meow.
NJL has enough HDTVs to satisfy a sports fan but I didn’t depart with the impression this was a Detroit Tigers or Lions gaming den. No, this place was a beer and booze palace with all the trimmings. Want unique? Try cocktails served in mini-​plastic beer pitchers. That’s right! Patrons can order up their favorite cocktails (one acquaintance I made was drinking grape vodka, Red Bull and ginger ale — looped!) in these plastic pitchers. Talk about sharing!?! Now that’s something that leads to a drunken orgy.
Why A-​OK? Because New Jester’s Lounge is for the local patrons, folks who live in Flint, Davison and nearby neighborhoods who expected low price beer and drinks, a cool (as in temp) to visit, and a place to get rowdy. NJL is a place I’ll wager gets rowdy, has women who dance all night twirling ’round the poles and men are rolling up their sleeves for action. Life can be grand at its most basic.

A great place to party on Friday and Saturday nights and a good place to eat anytime! I have ate here several times for lunch or dinner. The food is excellent here (hey, they were voted the Best Bar Burger in Flint). It is really quite good. Their salads are huge too — one of my personal favorites is the BLT Grilled Chicken Salad!
Check out the website too as they have a lot of benefits for local families (usually held on Sunday’s) where you pay money to get in; but it usually includes a taco bar and a chance to win prizes (usually a TV). Not a bad deal at all!
