Excellent! Went this evening for the first time. Hurricane chicken and chicken parm were both great. We took enough home of each for tomorrow’s lunch. The desserts looked fabulous — bought a couple to take home because we were stuffed. We will be back.

Odd little place, but the food was great. You can tell they take pride in the food they serve you. Was a little dirty too but that is worth over looking for the quality of the food.

The ratings for this place are super surprising to me. Service was good, no problems there at all. Waiter was friendly and outgoing and quick. The food was a different story. The cream of mushroom soup my brother got, we’re both convinced it was condensed soup from a can with a few mushrooms added. Not good at all. My side salad with dinner was really bad. Clearly the whole salad was prepared hours if not days before it was ordered, and left sitting uncovered in a fridge. There was wilted old salad stuck to the side of the bowl it had been sitting around for so long. And brown edges on the salad throughout. Really really bad. Main dishes were stromboli and crab cakes. Stromboli had ham in there that was brown, nasty. Crab cakes were not rotten, but far from fresh either. Totally marginal. To top it off this place is really dirty, which is something I would normally overlook in exchange for awesome food. If this is considered a really good italian place in the Flint area I would hate to see whats considered a bad italian place. Wow! 2 stars because the service was good. The food is one star all the way though in my opinion.

This is a really unique dining experience. The restaurant has a quirky décor and is rather small with about 10 – 12 tables without much elbow room. The food and service are exceptional. While it is characterized as Italian on Unilocal it is more diverse than that. The menu when I was there included Scalloped Potatoes and Ham, Crab Cakes and a Perch dinner. All of it was delicious and the portions were enormous. If you go save room for dessert. The menu featured some truly decadent, homemade desserts that are big enough to share. I highly recommend Pesto’s and we will be going back.

There isnt much in the way of seating but the food makes up for it! I’ve had several sandwiches and desserts from here and not been disappointed once. Fresh ingredients like you may get at a home meal and scratch desserts. Worth visit.

I have been eating her for 10 plus years. I have never had a bad meal here! Do not let the prices scare you it is well worth every penny! Molly is one of the best waitresses i have ever come across. You won’t have room for desert but you MUST take something home(i recommend the carrot cake!)

I want to start with saying that the food is fantastic. I know the owner/chef takes extreme pride in what he does. Everything authentic and from scratch. Delicious. The reason I haven’t been back is because of the décor. It’s junky, with no theme, and dusty as all hell. It’s hard for me to be intrigued when you’ve got some old dusty photograph at eye level. If that place got a makeover, it would make a big difference. I would also then become a regular.

On a recent trip to Flint to meet my in-laws halfway for lunch(they’re from Bay City), we were supposed to meet at Bar Louie next to Barnes and Noble… However, after walking into a nightclub atmosphere(loud music where you can barely hear yourself think), we decided to look on Unilocal for something else. Our Unilocal search led us to Pesto’s… Unilocal has been very good to us. We walk into this little hole in the wall… The restaurant is completely dated, small, and dark. But, it’s quiet. So, we figure if we just get a decent meal we will all be happy. From the moment we walked in, Joey(our waiter) took care of us. From getting us a high chair for my baby, to explaining all the specials and any other menu questions we had. He let us know that everything is handmade… Down to the salad dressing. We were all excited to try the food. It all sounded wonderful! I had the fish and chips, hubby had the salmon puttanesca, and the in laws had a honey bear sandwich, thanksgiving dinner, and eggplant parm. On top of all that we had the French onion soup, and a few side salads. I can honestly tell you that this meal was one to be remembered. The fish and chips were fried just right, the salmon was cooked beyond perfect, the thanksgiving dinner tasted like my mom made it, and the eggplant parm… You’ve never had it like this. Even the French onion soup didn’t taste«standard». It wasn’t as beefy as I’m used to… It more of a sweet onion, and spices with their beef stock that was just absolutely fantastic. For dessert we ordered the chocolate éclair. It was heavenly. Handmade pastry with handmade whipped cream and custard filled this GIGANTIC dessert. We also got a pack(6 cookies) of their chocolate chip cookies which were just good. Joey also gave us a pack of the gluten free chocolate chip cookies which were better than the regular cookies. Joey was cracking jokes with us the whole meal, got us everything that we needed, and just fantastic customer service. This restaurant is really lucky to have him working for them. He is beyond fantastic with their patrons. We left planning our next halfway meet-up because my family couldn’t get enough of the fantastic food. They were discussing all the other entrees they wanted to try next time!

The food is the absolute best in Genesee County. Never had a bad meal here. The gluten free options are endless! Their GF dessert is amazing. Service is awesome! The building lacks luster but you learn to fall in love with this hole in the wall!

Very small setting(and the décor makes you think food might be lacking) but the food is delicious! usually I always get the pizza(forgot the name) but it has artichokes. The salads are plain BUT they have various dressings(which I believe are made fresh and they are GOOD). Staff is nice and friendly as well. One of my favorite places in Flint.

I like Pestos. The décor is straight up funky, featuring mismatched chairs and tables and handmade artwork on the walls, but the food is expertly crafted, a real culinary experience. The building is a nondescript tiny hole in the wall, which isn’t really much to look at from the outside. Don’t judge it based on its less than fancy exterior, though! Terrific pizzas, fish tacos and sandwiches. Pay attention to their daily specials and dessert options. The prices are a little high considering the atmosphere, but you are paying for food quality and creativity. On a sour note, they don’t serve alcoholic beverages, but that is not a big deal to me. Maybe not having a liquor license cuts down on the overhead.

I have been coming here for years & love, love it! We drive for 1 ½ hours just to have dinner. The chicken marsala is the best! Very unique place.

In the middle of a long road trip, we were looking for a good alternative to franchise highway fare. We are so happy that the Unilocal reviews led us to Pestos! The service was friendly and prompt, the food was delicious, and we were in and out and back on the road quickly. :-)

We stopped in today on our way home from the western side of the state. We were so impressed! It’s small and cozy but the food was awesome! Took a little bit of wait time(there was just one server for the whole place) but it was delicious! I am a huge goody and there really wants anything hat I didn’t want to try! We will be back– and I can’t wait!

Pesto’s has been a family favorite for years. I love telling people about it. I wish it was bigger, but at the same time, I love the small setting. It’s cozy. While they always have the same menu for the most part, they also have daily specials. This place is really unique and I have yet to find another place like it. It is a converted house on the corner so if you are driving down the road, you wouldn’t know it was a super amazing place to eat unless you noticed the sign. I have never had a bad meal here and I always get something different to try new things. Oh, and the desserts. All homemade and all equally as amazing as their meals.

Took my daughter here for her birthday yesterday and was very disappointed. Two of us liked their food selections and of course my wife and I were not at all happy. Her crust for her stromboli was not cooked thoroughly and I had chicken parmesan that was over cooked and very dry. The wait staff did take off 50% for my entrée which in my opinion is only partially the correct thing to do. I was not asked if I wanted something else. The dessert was good and if I decide to return here in the future, it might just be a dessert drop by destination. Desserts are big enough to share and are a bit pricey but everyone enjoyed their meal ending.

My absolute favorite Italian resturaunt! I’ve never ever had a problem with food or service. You will not find better Italian food in the flint area! Helpful hint their Stromboli is to die for! Atmosphere is very cute and quiet but also very small so they don’t really have room for big parties. However pestos is perfect, honestly makes you feel like your at a little Italian resturaunt in italy.

Pesto’s is a small, cozy restaurant with an eclectic theme. They are located on Miller Road about ½ mile west of the Genesee Valley Center Mall. The restaurant serves lunch and dinner, but does not offer alcoholic beverages. They do have a standard menu and also post daily specials on their website. The hostess and staff are friendly and knowledgeable about the ingredients. The food quality, portions, and prices are reasonable. One of the daily specials I ordered was the«Healthy Eating» Pesto Tuna rare, and it was served juicy and tender. For dessert I ordered the Oatmeal Craisin Cookies and received six nice size cookies, five of which I brought home to share. Overall, this is a great place for a meal or dessert and I and will definitely be back for another dining experience.

When I arrived about 1:30 almost every table was full. My server spoke to many of the patrons as if they were regulars. By the time I left at 2:30, only me and another table remained. I’m not a huge sandwich eater but the sandwiches from diners around me looked great. I ordered the Wolverine and a mini garden salad. The salad came in a regular sized bowl and had pepperoni, olives, mixed lettuce and a bit of cheese and croûton. The yogurt dill dressing was delicious as was the breadstick – I rarely indulge in them but this one was worth it. The sandwich was quite large but oh so drippy delicious; the homemade bread made it all the better. ‘Second napkin needed. Agreed, the outside of Pesto’s isn’t enough to make you stop in. Yes, the décor is kitschy. Glad I left it up to my fellow Unilocalers and gave it a try during my travels. It’s worth the stop.

I don’t get this place. Driving past, you think that it is a place that’s well past its prime. You walk in, and the décor floats along the boundary of charming and tacky, and you aren’t really sure what you’ve gotten yourself into. But then you interact with the staff and you suddenly feel like you’re at home. Everybody is super friendly and goes out of their way to make you feel comfortable and that you have an enjoyable experience. And then you eat their food, and you realize just how this business is able to keep its doors open in an economy that has forced many restaurants to close shop. I can’t remember when I started going to Pesto’s. My grandparents live in Swartz Creek(I lived in NY and now DC) and all I know is that every time we go to Michigan to visit them, we have to go to Pesto’s. It’s honestly one of my favorite restaurants of all time(and I now live in the foodie paradise of Washington, DC). This place is also VERY friendly to those who have to follow a gluten free diet. One of their servers is a celiac and so they have a number of really tasty gluten free products. I don’t follow a GF diet(my mom does), but their gluten free pizza crust(which they also use for their GF sandwiches) actually hold up in terms of flavor and texture to any wheat-based bread. Also, I challenge you to find a more comforting bowl of French onion soup on the face of this planet. TL;DR you owe it to yourself to try this place out. You won’t be disappointed.
