If you are looking for a fun outing check out Livingston Merchantile. I have been for brunch a half a dozen times and each time it is great. Each of the bartenders have a special talent for making the most delicious cocktails you will ever taste. I love their breakfasts. Once you are done dining make sure and walk around the town.

The town of Livingston FKA Flora, MS is literally in the middle of nowhere and seemed to spring out of nowhere. We ate at the more casual of the two restaurants. The food and service were good, not remarkable. The plate lunch was a fried chicken or roast beef. Both well prepared and tasty. It was like an upscale Cracker Barrel for the well heeled. Onsite there is also a candy shop, a gas station/gift shop and a wine shop.

A great, interesting spot for Sunday lunch after church. The Sunday Blue Plate Special offers fried chicken or roast beef along with two sides, corn bread and drink for $ 12 makes for a good value. The fried chicken is extra crisp on the outside and super tender inside and absolutely delicious. I choose the braised greens and potato salad with corn bread and sweet tea for an iconic Southern experience. Delicious food, friendly service, Mercantile local crafts, rocking chairs and beautiful porch experience made for a terrific memory.

The meal was good. Friendly greeting when you walk in the door. The only problem — we ordered water to drink. In 90+ heat, the water glasses were smaller than other drinks and no refills.

Livingston has good southern food at a pretty good value. That will generally be a 4 stars if everything else goes well. This gets 3 because it is a trek to get there from basically anywhere and the service is halfway in between table service and counter service that just does not work for the space or menu. This location is basically an entire town that a developer is hoping to coax out of the ground in the next few years. Maybe with more people there will come more things to do, but time will have to tell. Until there is more reason to go out there, you don’t need to bother making the trek for this. You can get the same and better much closer to town. MACANDCHEESELIST — I do have to note that their mac and cheese is delicious. It is the rich, processed cheese taste that warms your should and hurts your heart.
