The service was not great, we all decided we wanted the Flat bread, Well when we tried to order the server said no one made the dough for it so we couldn’t order it. I got a over priced pork belly burger that was just OK. not one person at the table commented on how good anything was. I’ll go across the street from now on.

My wife and I went a few weeks ago and it was great. The atmosphere was cozy and unique, wait staff was attentive but not intrusive, and the food was delicious. Loved the wood fired grill within sight of the table. I can highly recommend the steak and the Lobster pot pie. Also, the charred green beans. Very good!

If you want pancakes for the kids– head to IHOP. If you want a grilled cheese with Sunbeam white bread and Kraft singles, make it at home. But if you want great food for a refined palate with a rustic atmosphere and fantastic bar — head to the County Seat. Great menu — great bar! Love the deck and live music. Good happy hour. Big fan.

Food was alright. Customer service not so much… especially from their manager, one of the owners. Along with our other food, we ordered a plate of 3 pancakes for the kids to split for $ 9 and they charged a «split plate fee» of $ 3 and let us know this on the check. It doesn’t say it on the menu, nor were we told. It’s not the money, it’s the principal and part of customer service. And, the owner said he charges that because it «messed with the presentation of the dish»…come on, it’s pancakes! Seriously. Don’t get the kids grilled cheese sandwich. It’s not made for a kid. Aged cheese and rye bread will not be a good fit for average kids. To top it all off, my wife took my little boy to the bathroom and while waiting in the hallway next to the staff area, she overheard the owner dogging us on our complaint and how cheap we were… get this, to his employees. That’s a way to train up your employees to be a 5 star restaurant. Good luck in surviving this tough business with that kind of service. We will not return. 2 stars bring the rating up from zero for the food, not customer service.

115 Livingston Church Rd, Flora, MS39071 We had a late lunch at the county seat and found the food tasty. They had a wide selection of beers and hand crafted cocktails as well. We all had salads and they were all fresh made with home made dressings. They also cure their own meats and bacon so be sure and give that a try as well. We will be going back next time we’re through the area. Urban Cowgill 2015

A terrible dining experience! Saturday night at 6 pm and they were out of several entrees and flatbread. We ordered the Drunken Bread appetizer which arrived burned on top. The hamburger was very good but not hot. The chopped salad was tasteless. The wait staff was very poorly trained. We were told that the chef and other staff were working a wedding outside that the restaurant was catering. No excuse! The manager did comp our meal and wine, but we will probably not go back.

Fabulous food & wonderful waiters & waitresses. The filet is wonderful. My husband always gets it & is NEVER disappointed. I however, am in love with«The Other Burger». I’m a blue cheese lover & it doesn’t disappoint. If you feel a little spicy, try the sugar snaps.

Burgers amazing. Appetizers delish. Bartender gifted. Pork chops are The best-ever. Steak– the house seasoning and open flame grilling give it one step above the others while the quality that you can’t get at home takes it beyond. The sides are great. Laid back atmosphere with some of the best food in the world — County Seat is gonna please. Bands, bar & food all in one place!!! Seriously, this place is special and I would know – I spend more than my share of nights in the foodiest of places: NYC, Dallas, LA, Chicago, DC, & Boston to name a few. This is true farm to table [and you know MS can grow ‘em(whatever that means)] CS has either the freshest or finest in-house aged meat you can find outside of a national chain. The boudin is off the chain, and I’m from Cajun country. Chef Jeremy’s seasonal menu is sure to have multiple items that make u want to come back for a taste and the classics that stay on the butchers block are must try items. My hubby and I… hobby as foodies — when we can afford it. To sum it all up, I’d eat here more than once a week if I could – I’m sad I live 50 min out. I mentioned laid back good things take time – if you aren’t as laid back or if your blood sugar is low then just be sure to order table bread or an app. To me, all food is cooked to order and it’s worth the wait. I’ve had better service – at 5 star rated places, what I haven’t had is the personnel attention and care of the owner and the managers of this place. Did I mention the pork chop? Took me 4 tries to find it in stock bc they kept selling out – obviously I’m not the only one that thinks it is worth the wait that’s for sure. This is my favorite steak house in MS.

WORTHTHEDRIVE!!! This place is a diamond in the middle of a developing area!!! From walking into the restaurant to leaving, EVERYTHING was perfect!!! From the hostess, to the waitress to the chef coming by personally to welcome us and check on us, PERFECTION!!! Everything that we ordered was EXCEPTIONAL!!! My wife and I chose this restaurant for our 8th wedding anniversary because of wonderful things we had heard from our friends. We were not disappointed. We both had drink specials that the bartender recommended. Mine was a special Old Fashioned with one big solid cube of ice and a candy stirrer. It was exceptional!!! My wife had a special martini which she also immensely enjoyed. Daniele was our server. She provided wonderful service and recommendations throughout the night. Both the carrot and tomato soup as well as the sausage and cheese flatbread were as good as they were unusual. These appetizers made us wonder, how could the entrees be any better than this? They were! We both ordered butcher’s cut steaks that were THEBESTWEHAVEEVEREATEN!!! We have frequented just about every specialty steak restaurant in the metro area as well as quite a few in other parts of the country. There is something VERY unique and truly satisfying about the quality and taste of the steaks at this establishment. It would be a crime to put anything on this steak besides a knife and fork!!! In fact, the steaks were so tender, you barely even need a knife!!! The steaks were cooked exactly as we ordered. They were very juicy and even more flavorful. It is hard to describe how good it was.(Writing this review makes me want to go back tonight!!) Just know that the quality of these steaks and the manner in which they are prepared, cut and seasoned is like no other place that I have ever experienced. The atmosphere, décor and service are all top notch. This place would excel no matter what city you placed it in. We are lucky to have it right in Madison County in the historic town of Livingston. You owe it to yourself to check this place out, even if it is just for a quick beer or drink at the beautiful bar. This fine dining establishment(where you can dress casually) is definitely a place you MUST try. You will NOT be disappointed.

We got a crab dip that was not good at all. It tasted a little like cat food. The bread that came with the dip was stale. We also got a Tomato flatbread and it just was ok. Neat setting but the food was not that impressive.

DELICIOUS and fresh food. They make everything they serve and butcher their meats in the back of the restaurant. I ordered the stuffed rabbit and it was cooked perfectly and had lots of flavor. We ordered a side of Brie mac n cheese and sweet potato soufflé which was TODIEFOR. They are big portions so make sure you have someone to share with! Great experience and the staff is wonderful!

I’ve been here twice and the food is phenomenal! Balance the flavors of everything so well. Everything is farm to table, even the meat is cut in house(I don’t eat meat, but my boyfriend was impressed). The creamed squash soup is subtle and hits the spot. Beets and goat cheese appetizer was as expected in a good way. The tomato and kale flatbread is great because it’s got lots of veggies and I love toppings, also if your looking to save money, that alone would fill you up. A lot of people like the sweet potato soufflé, but it’s too sweet, more dessert-like than usual. If you don’t order the charred snap peas you will regret it. Same with the Root Veg stack, which has rutabaga that adds a magnificent flavor and if you’ve never tried rutabaga this would be the time because it’s perfectly made. Also the bartender is always accommodating enough to make my favorite drink, Aviation. That all said, I gave it 4 stars because the second time I went the service staff was very friendly, but two people were helping us and it caused a lot of confusion and we didn’t get our drinks for over 15 minutes. On top of that, the second time they had a woman singing cheesy cover songs in a cramped corner that was too loud and didn’t jive with the atmosphere at all.

I’m always hesitant to review a «new» eatery until it’s been open for at least six months, but I’m confident that County Seat is worthy of a solid four-star review, even though they’ve been open only a few short weeks. First, the space is absolutely perfect! The combination of wood, metal, great lighting, etc works! The service is very good. Not quite perfect, but they’ll get there. The food is fantastic. Fresh baked unique breads every day, with pickled veggie salsa, awesome burger(I’ll agree with earlier reviews that $ 15 may be a bit excessive), good duck fat fries, incredible chicken and dumplings! County Seat is worthy of of a trip to the newly created Livingston Township, the epitome of «build it and they will come». I hope they do!

This place wins the prize for the worst burger I’ve ever had, and way too expensive at that. I love burgers but I could barely eat more than three bites of this one, two of which were out of guilt because of the price. The waitress was combative when my husband asked to leave items off his burger and then never came back to the table. And whoever thought that three undercooked potato wedges would make a good side to an insanely over priced kid’s meal has clearly never met a toddler. Do yourself a favor and walk down the street to The Gathering instead of this place.

Wow! Just wow! Jeremy, my wife and I had a great experience. Great food, awesome staff and a comfortable atmosphere. I love being able to see the food being prepared. My «butcher’s cut» was cooked perfect and tasted awesome. The side are absolutely great as well — great menu. I feel we will be back many times. Great job!

This is a bit of a difficult review. The food is very good, some of the best in Jackson, probably. They focus on using fresh and local ingredients. Their style is harder to pin down as well, while most restaurants go for something like«let’s take traditional southern food and make it nice enough for a fancy place» The County Seat puts more of a creative spin on things. Some of it is a little rustic, but it is mostly delicious. If you don’t have time to read this review, basically, it is very good food, definitely worth checking out, but sometimes they try to hard on the food, it is a tad expensive, and a bit of a drive from most of Jackson. They do have a full bar area with some TVs going if you are into that. There is a private dining room to rent, and the main dining room has nice high booths. As is the risk with any place that is trying«new» and«creative» combinations, they don’t always work out. They make their own sauces because they don’t «believe in» store bought condiments like ketchup and mayonnaise. This turns out fine, any sauces and dressings we had on anything were very good. Let me walk you through my meal: I started with a pork belly salad, the two parts of the salad went together about as well as you might expect. While the pork belly was delightful(and this is coming off of a weekend of eating excellent pork) it could have stood alone from the salad. Also, as the salad was cold, the temperature the pork was served at(same as salad) was less than ideal. I don’t know how you feel about the flatbread trend, but I’ll go ahead and come out against it. Whoever said«hey, pizza is good, but lets take the sauce and cheese away and try to tell people it is healthier» was a good marketer with a bad heart. The County Seat has a section of flatbreads on the menu, which, while they sound tasty, are still flatbreads. The chicken, goat cheese and apple one I had was good, but with any flatbread, dry and unexciting. The burger was well hyped to us. As it turns out, it was very good. But let’s be honest, if you want a burger and you are within an hour’s drive of Cool Al’s, it is a mistake to go anywhere else. For dessert, we turned to the cinnamon brined caramel apples. These were served a little too cold to really enjoy, and the brining did not have quite the effect I was imagining(i guess I was imagining slightly more stewed, but that’s not what happened, clearly). The caramel sauce was very good and the pistachio crumbles were a lovely touch on top. Overall, like I said before, it is a solid 4 stars. The food is very good quality and they try quite hard to serve you something you have not had before. It is an inconvenient location, but worth a trip at some point to see what they can surprise you with.
